Wooden Roots Limited is a music retail & lifestyle shop with a studio & workshop based on Bentwaters Parks in Rendlesham. We sell and repair West African Drums (Djembes) & percussion alongside accessories and apparel. We teach drumming via regular classes, bespoke workshops and annual events. What we offer is unique in bridging social and societal barriers, bringing together people of all ages, genders, abilities and backgrounds into a single space. We are accessible to everyone whether you can play an instrument or not and with no requirements to read music it means that no one is excluded. We see community cohesion from lawyers & accountants to an 8 year old whose parents use a food bank. We are a commercial operation putting back into society via our community involvement where we simply make people smile through drumming. We are making a difference to people's lives by creating a legacy through the value in teaching, protecting and promoting the instruments that we sell. Wooden Roots is deeply committed to their mission which is “Connecting lives through creating a safe and fun environment where our local community can explore and learn a culture they would not typically expect to find”.

Wooden Roots have brought authentic West African drumming and teaching outside of the cities. Elite drumming doesn't really happen outside of places like London. I'm grateful for their commitment and championing of excellence in an inclusive way. Also, they're classes are awesome! I challenge anyone to join in and not get lost in the vibe!
I have had 6 drumming lessons/sessions with Wooden Roots.
I have several health issues and I have found it extremely therapeutic. The Wooden Roots team are professional, skilled and, above all friendly. Participants soon feel part of the 'Wooden Roots Family'. My children love giving me Wooden Roots vouchers for Christmas and birthdays. These can be used in the shop, but also for drumming lessons.

Wooden Roots is a real gem located in Rendlesham in the Suffolk countryside.
The Wooden Roots team are so friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable teaching Djembe and other instruments from West Africa. The classes are for different levels of players from beginner to experienced taught with patientce and in a fun way by authentic skilled artists.
The children's classes are so much fun and really gets the children engaged, with drumming, song and plenty of laughs and so much support.
The yearly Wooden Roots experience is an incredible community event with artists from all over the world teaching a mix of different levels of workshops, improving your skills and making new friends. It's a great fun filled weekend.
Merchandise is high quality, looking and feeling great on!
We have the black hoodie which is so snug, warm and soft inside, like the tops they wash up well and the logos show no sign of wear and tear even after many times through the wash.
The cap and drum belt we have have also both been through the wash ( though I don't know if this is recommended) and came out well with no issues.
We recently purchased a Wooden Roots drum and case and even that was such a fun experience! Marcus took time to assist my son to choose a djembe that would be perfect for him, ensuring that he was happy with every element of the drum from the aesthetic to the weight and sound. We were not rushed at all and given alot of fantastic advice. The Djembe we chose looks beautiful, carved from djalla wood and headed with goatskin, and it sounds incredible!
The djembe case is very high quality, lined in a beautiful soft fabric, with a zip from top to bottom for ease of getting the drum in and out of the case. The top is solid protecting the skin of the drum and it has two pockets on the side for storing your belt etc.
The djembes at Wooden Roots at truly authentic and with the team on hand your sure to get a warm welcome, the best advise and support and your dream djembe.
We highly recommended, it's a 10/10 from us!
