The situation is stable.

I’ve been using Webdock.io’s entry-level server for a month now, and its performance has been consistently stable without any issues. Compared to other major cloud service providers, I haven’t noticed any differences. The only distinction is that Webdock.io doesn’t offer on-demand hourly billing, and I hope they can integrate and launch this pricing model in the future.

The Best!

I have rarely found a service as perfect, user-friendly, prompt, and professional as Webdock. I'm not a programmer, and being able to use and manage a website through Webdock is an experience that would make you want to donate if you only had the financial means. I'm sorry guys, all I can do is thank you for the work you do. Thank you so much, you are the best!

Mandated telemetry

I rented a VPS through these people, expecting a typical arrangement. Appeared to be so on the surface. After configuring the server how I wanted it, I got some perfunctory email a few weeks later stating that I had removed their dashboard software. Apparently this violates the terms of service.
"you are required to not delete the LXD/Incus Agent application in your KVM server"

"If you remove or disable incus-agent or lxd-agent from your server, almost all functionality in Webdock will break and we will be unable to provide any support."
Sounds good to me! Certainly don't want them snooping on my tin foil hat rant pages and private government conspiracy theory portal!!

I manage everything via SSH. Don’t need their fancy UI, don’t want their support. Told them this and asked why their agent is forced on me . Crickets. Two weeks later, server terminated.

Considering how cheap this service is, and their mandated 'telemetry', complete with automated enforcement.. This is a data harvesting opp 100% (GDPR compliant of course, whatever that is worth these days), and at every chance they seem to want to sell you more crap. Oh SSL, wordpress, domain name. No thank you mate I just want to rent the damn VPS and run it how I please. No I am not mining coins or causing undue load or anything like that, just running a crap non profit personal website where I write increasingly unhinged rants about everything I dislike, and manage everything, configure everything myself.
Webdock is deffo getting a hit piece now! ! Resplendant with flashing gifs and marquees.

Not really sure why there is mandated hand-holding, or mandated management software.

Their server image is preinstalled with so much junk, the minimum disk size is half full from the get go with a bunch of crap. PHP, mysql server, sketchy dashboard telemetry services. The whole kitchen sink, and they wonder why I threw it out the window and stuck to SSH?

No response from support, barring automated suspension emails. God forbid I just want to run my geocities page in peace, now I have to return to self hosting or find another provider. Would have been happy to continue using webdock for 20 years otherwise, had no problems with uptime or load.

Dear Wayde. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review! Now, as to telemetry - we don't really spy on our customers in any way. What we do however is occasionally pull the list of running processes in customer VMs and correlate that with usage data. This is to catch malware, hacking tools and other nefarious stuff. This benefits legitimate customers in that we can more easily keep our platform clean, and if a customer has been hacked we can inform them in a timely manner.

Beyond that, our LEMP/LAMP stacks just come with standard software and everything we have done in those stacks is fully documented. We do not install any spyware :)

Our base OS images are the clean images as provided by the vendors and built by the Incus community (our open source hypervisor software). So nothing untowards happening there either.

Beyond that, the main reason why we require the agent software to be installed according to our TOS is that without it, our support team has no access to the customer instance in case of a support request and we indeed have zero visibility as to what the customer is running. That and the fact that all of the tooling in our dashboard which interacts with customer servers rely on the agent to function.

If you don't want or need any of our featureset, I am sure there are better barebones VPS options out there, where all you get is a VPS and nothing else. That's not what Webdock is - we are all about easy management, great support and timely monitoring and alerting. And for that, we need the Agent software running.

We are pleased to see you were happy with uptime and load/performance at least!

They are awesome!!

They are affordable, and their customer care service is spectacular. They solved issues I was having with my domain name provider, saving me a lot of headache. And they are still assisting me with my setup

I’ve only been using this VPS provider…

I’ve only been using this VPS provider for a few weeks, but I’m already blown away by the quality of their service. From the initial setup to everyday use, everything has been smooth, fast, and rock solid reliable.

Provisioning a server took just minutes, and I was up and running without a hitch. The performance has been consistently excellent — fast response times, no lag, and enough power to handle everything I’ve thrown at it so far.

Even more impressive is their support team. I had a couple of minor questions early on, and their response was almost instant helpful, friendly, and clearly experienced. It’s rare to find that level of support from day one.

Despite only being a few weeks in, I’m already confident I made the right choice. If things continue like this (and I have no reason to believe they won’t), I’ll be sticking with them for the long haul. Definitely one of the best VPS providers I’ve used highly recommended

WebDock.io shady business practices and not caring about customer

WebDock.io tries to take your money in ways that don’t feel honest. They billed me for a server I barely used for a few hours, and there’s no clear way to cancel it or get a refund. When I reached out to their support, the staff just repeated that I had to pay, even though my usage was under 24 hours. They brushed off my concerns and didn’t offer a real solution or any help. I have used them for months and had no issues by this time, clearly they don't care about you even if you're their customer for quite some time. The server itself had terrible latency, which made it almost impossible to use for anything important. If you’re looking for a stable hosting provider, it’s best to avoid these shady business practices. Their service left me frustrated and out of pocket.

Hello! Terribly sorry for the late response, but I wanted to understand what really happened here, and it took us a while to track down your account and support thread.

Now, we have a 24 hour refund policy after you create your server - and following that, cancellations are until the end of the current billing period.

You have been with us since May of this year (thanks!) and still are with us, which is great.

I see the issue arises from one of your servers which was created back in May - you then created a new server and moved your data to the new server and contacted us on July 2nd. This was 1 day into your next billing period. You have now canceled the old server and it was slated to be auto-deleted August 1st.

Seems to me all this is about you wanting a refund for this old server on july 2nd. Thing is, you didn't pay your invoice, so in fact you didn't pay us anything (exept for a paypal top-up following the invoice issuance, I assume to cover next payment for your new server)

Our team made the judgment call that since you had been with us for a few months already, there was no reason to believe that you didn't understand how our subscription billing works, and it didn't help your case that you hadn't paid your latest invoice (which included your new server).

We appreciate that you are upset about the situation, but in all fairness this is how most if not all subscriptions work: You pay for a certain period, and if you cancel you have the service until the period ends. This is how it works with many cloud providers, except for the ones advertising per-minute billing.

In any case, we decided to clear this up for you today: The disputed server was deleted today and we cleared the outstanding invoice (so we have also, in effect, given you a month free for your new server) and brought your account back to good standing.

Hope this is to your satisfaction and that we will have you with us for some time yet!

Positiv oplevelse efter 4 måneder

Jeg har haft en lille vps server i 4 måneder nu hos webdock, til noget mail backup, mest for at få en fornemmelse for stabilitet og drift. Det har bestemt været en positiv oplevelse, internetforbindelsen er god med lave ping tider. Afprøvede en tilsvarende vps service med adresse i et baltisk land og selv om serveren fysisk stod i Ballerup var ping tiderne meget svingende.
Vil til at flytte flere services over til webdock.
