I would however like to comment on the latest.
Although the Knights Templar have gone and as John says their legacy survives, he may not be aware that
in fact Middle Temple derives its name from the Knights Templar who were in possession of the site that Middle Temple sits on. The origins of Middle Temple trace from 2 roots: the occupation of the Knights Templar and the replacement of priestly lawyers by a lay profession.
I am a member of the Honourable Society of Middle Temple and so are many barristers the world over.
