I'm still fighting for my refund. After two failed attempts to redeem my VisitBritain gift cards (resulting in two ruined London trips) I demanded my £60 back. Eventually a company called Cashstar cancelled my cards but with no refund!! There's nobody to talk to so it's all taking months of fruitless messaging. But I won't give up VisitBritian, or Cashstar or whoever you are!
Update: Wow! I got a response thanks to this post and a £10 credit as compensation. (no refund annoyingly) I'm in London again now trying to use my VB gift card at Sea Life. Spent all evening filling in online forms. Must've types their handy 16-digit and 9-digit codes a dozen times. Wish they accepted Paypal/Apple Pay/Amex or anything other than Visa! Each time I get right to the end only to get an error message!! My wife finds it hilarious that I've wasted so may hours of my life just to save a couple of quid by using this HORRIBLE company rather than just paying on the door as we always end up doing anyway. But I won't give up VisitBritain! The battle continues

He pedido una Visitor Oyster Card pero no ha llegado a tiempo. Para que me devolvieran el importe, tuve que mandar la tarjeta a su oficina en Inglaterra con gastos de envio de 12€. Este gasto extra por su puesto no me lo devuelven. He mandado varios mails porque no pueden cancelar la tarjeta y devolverme el dinero ya que lo cobran de la misma manera, pero la respuesta repetida de un tal Sr. Paul era siempre la misma que tienen que tener la tarjeta en mano para devolver el importe.

Kijkend naar de negatieve reacties op de site over het niet leveren, had ik er bewust voor gekozen om met de creditcard de kaarten te bestellen. Voordeel hiervan is dat je de kaarten binnen een week op je deurmat hebt liggen. Enige puntje van aandacht waar je rekening mee dient te houden is €8,49 invoerrechten. Hier ontvang je een betaalverzoek voor zodra de kaarten opgestuurd zijn. Na betaling waren de 4 kaarten binnen 3 dagen geleverd. Op de kaarten stond ook netjes het vooraf betaalde tickettegoed. Mocht je binnen en buiten de spits reizen met de metro binnen Zone 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 dan betaal je maximaal £22.60 of £15.90 per dag. Meer wordt niet ingehouden. Hou er rekening mee dat kosten met de bus of trein hier niet onder vallen en apart met de kaart verrekend worden.

Spent 70eur on two visitor Oyster cards and now Belgium post is asking 25eur for import duties. But VisitBritain was listed as the official seller in Belgium. Surely they should be shipping from inside the EU but apparently not. Of course they don't warn you during the buying process and I'm not even sure that's legal. I am now contacting them to see if I can refuse the package and get a full refund.

Like others, I also ordered Oyster Cards for a visit to London. They hadn't arrived to our home in Ireland by time we needed them.
The reason for the delay was they were held up in Irish customs who wanted fees and charges to release them.
On our return I contacted VisitBritain regarding a refund which was dealt with in excellent fashion.
I received a full refund without hassle hence my 5 star review.
Given Oyster Cards are really not required given the many alternative payment options, I think this could be better explained on the website. Also the likelihood of customs charges arising should be advised for EU purchasers which would remove many of the frustrations expressed here.

it wasn't clear that I should have paid customs to Italy to receive visitor oyster cards I ordered online. I had more 4,60 euros to pay when receiving the parcel. The tracking isn't available in Italy so we had no idea of where it could be and if we could receive the cards on time. I expect a full tracking after spending 19,90 pounds of shipment!

Scamming people with their prices. Your marketing material are all words with nothing to show for it.

You want to promote tourism to this country, put some LIFE INTO IT!!!!!!

If I could give this a minus 5 stars, it would really reflect on the performance of this outfit! I ordered and paid for a Visitor Oyster card on the understanding that delivery would be 8-9 days. I was notified that it was shipped and two weeks later still no card. I will be leaving in 2 days time and I tried to contact them two days ago with zero response. It is not the money in so much as the inconvenience as my understanding is that one cannot purchase a Visitor Oyster card in London itself, although I did ask them what I should do when I tried to contact. I feel absolutely ripped of and even before I start, it has left a blot on my trip.I wish that I had read the reviews before paying these shysters.

Ich habe bei VisitBritain für unsere Familie Visit Oyster Cards für eine Reise nach London gekauft. Der Bestellprozess war problemlos und die Karten kamen nach einigen Tagen an.
Mit den unglaublichen 18 EUR Versand- und Bearbeitungsgebühren hatte ich mich letztendlich abgefunden aber als der Postbote klingelte, wollte dieser nochmals 17 EUR Zollgebühren.
Hallo? Ich bringe die Karten doch wieder zurück nach GB. Es gibt bessere Lösungen als virtuelle Zusatzkosten zu erzeugen.

Habe mir zwei Oyster Karten für unseren Trip bestellt. Diese kamen auch rechtzeitig an und waren mit 25 Pfund deklariert!!
Alles bestens.

ho comprato 2 oyster card con 25£ ognuna il 17/9. ho scritto nell'ordine che sarei partito il 25/9 da casa. l'ordine è stato spedito tempestivamente il giorno dopo ma è arrivato troppo tardi (il 28/9). pagato 60£ per le due oyster (inutilizzate), 15£ di spedizione e poi con mia enorme sorpresa anche 18,74€ di dogana italiana in posta, alla fine ho speso più di 100€ per nulla.
gli ho scritto per lamentarmi e mi hanno risposto che mi possono rimborsare solo se rimando indietro la merce. assurdo!
non dovevano spedire se sapevano che le tempistiche erano quelle; altrimenti che lo scrivo a fare il giorno della partenza nell'ordinativo. non comprate da loro.
si può viaggiare nei mezzi di londra con la carta di credito contactless, come poi ho dovuto fare.

Die bestellten Oyster Cards nicht erhalten. Vorsicht Betrug!

Ordered 2 Visitor Oyster Cards London on 9-12 for 79 pounds ($99 total). I never received the cards before our departure to Europe on Sept 27. They said cards would arrive in time. Their tracking showed the cards were delivered to the Sarasota FL post office on 9-27; however they were never delivered to our residence and in any regard we had left so they would do us no good. Still have not shown up 11-13-23. Visit Britain WILL NOT REFUND THE MONEY! They are not reputable. Don't waste your money. FYI you don't need these cards-your credit card works for all transportation. Great system

Bij het in vullen van het adres die automatisch gaat is er na dat je okey hebt gegeven ergens iets fout gegaan waardoor er tussen huis nummer en straat naam een hele reeks getallen cijfers is gekomen op onverklaarbare wijze. Pakket is verstuurd maar dus nooit aangekomen. Ergens onderweg zeggen ze. Het pakket had zo nooit weggestuurd moeten worden. Ze zijn nergens verantwoordelijk voor zeggen ze en dus ben je gewoon je geld kwijt. Ga dus niet met ze in zee. Gaat er iets fout met een zending geven ze dus niet thuis!!!!

Amazing Day out at Alton Towers Firework Event days for £14.99pp!
I was informed of the National Lottery Days out promotion offering £25 off tickets.

I claimed the promotion and was forwarded to the Visit Britain website to claim the discount voucher. They had the tickets for Alton Towers marked up at £39.99 - including the dates for their Fireworks events, which normally cost more (online closer to the dates we’re £59.99 on Alton towers website!).

I entered the codes and purchased the tickets for £14.99. My tickets came nearly instantaneously with no issue.

However, I was sceptical this was a scam, the tickets said they were valid on 05/11/23 time 00.00.00, and expired on 05/11/23 time 00.00.01. I panicked right up until visiting, especially after seeing the reviews!

On arrival, the ticket barcodes did not scan. However, when the barcode was manually entered, the tickets went through without issue and we were granted access!

We had a wonderful day and the fireworks at Alton Towers were nothing short of brilliant and would happily use again!

I purchased tickets for a witch walk. Unfortunately I tested positive for Covid 50+ hours prior to the walk. I immediately contacted visit Britain via their online form. I received no reply for 48 hours and then a claim that I had left it too late. I had given more than 50 hours notice and their terms and conditions state 48 hours. They tried saying I made the claim 24 hours before at 6:55 am (I wasn’t even awake at this time) I sent my internet history as proof of when I went on the contact form and of the morning they said I contacted them. They claim this isn’t evidence. Terrible customer service. I don’t recommend booking with them.

Ich habe 2 Oystercards bestellt und leider auch schon Geld aufgeladen. Die Karten sind bei mir nie angekommen. Inzwischen habe ich mein Geld zurückbekommen. Der Prozess bis dahin war aus meiner Sicht sehr aufwändig. Statt direkt selbst beim Kurier nachzufragen (da ein normaler Kunde nur mit einem Chatbot kommunizieren kann) waren erst zig Emails erforderlich. Die ganze Arbeit, Zeit und Ärger hätte man sich sparen können. Am Ende bin ich aber froh, dass meine Rückerstattung angekommen ist.
