We Gave Them Power - They Punished Us For It

If you don't want to read the entire review, there is a tl;dr at the bottom of it summarizing the major points I wished to highlight.

I'm sure you've heard this story plenty of times just this year alone. After all, it was only this year that it started becoming a real issue.
You're at home, relaxing. You're interested in a game, a small title made by a small team, that happens to have some themes kids aren't meant to see. Maybe it just came out, maybe it's older than the hosting platform you found it on. And now you want to buy it. But, whoops! Now that you're ready to buy it, you look again only to see that it has vanished. You're confused, because it didn't violate any regulations of the platform, and it definitely wasn't breaking any laws in your country nor the country its developers were based in. But guess what? Your very own credit card decided that it was bad and needed to go, so the big company decided to threaten discontinued support for the entire digital retail platform if the game didn't go.
This happened. In July, our largest payment processors pushed for all of our largest gaming platforms to entirely remove anything that was deemed to "lack serious artistic value" as if they had any inkling of a care over it, over fictional depictions of violence and worse even as they profiteer from those same things elsewhere.

Visa, as well as MasterCard, are both responsible for this. They aren't subtle about their intentions; Visa outright announced their plan to swoop in and control the direction of gaming as an industry, totally leaving out the people who use it for mere, harmless fantasy. Art censored, livelihoods damaged, and outlets for psychological frustrations shut off entirely, as if asking to make the streets worse than they already are.
Realistically, they cannot completely kill off a culture without collapsing the industry it was turned into. Even if they succeed in a "complete" crackdown against adult content, the only thing that would accomplish long-term is escalating conflict, while at the same time forcing the growth of a shareware culture that passes files around for free purely because people often care more about being human than they do about fitting in with a puritanical mutation of the word "human" that more closely resembles the word "slave". And once all the soul of gaming is torn away--something that several big-name developers were already working on WITHOUT Visa's help--even the people who just want to come home after work and play a round of Battlefield, League of Legends, Call of Duty, etc., will have nothing better to do than walk away from it all, making this hijacked industry less and less profitable over time, even assuming those games survive that long (FYI, by Visa's current standards and outlined regulations, stories like Game of Thrones would be shot dead before a publisher could even look at them, and that's BEFORE getting to their "or if we just don't like it" clause!).

The worst part, however, is the fact that it's only been two months since it started by targeting a combination of adult fantasy and darker fiction--which, as anyone with any amount of reading comprehension can tell you, is fictional--and has already escalated to total silencing of just about anything that isn't either protected by AAA money or scrubbed totally clean of anything even remotely adult. This, paired with the sudden global push for censorship well BEYOND the scope of gaming culture, has left many people utterly shaken, even leaving many in financial danger as a direct consequence.

tl;dr: Visa (and others) have decided for you what you aren't allowed to buy, entirely separate from both the law and any degree of educated thought. The backlash has been strong, but not strong enough. There is no reason to take a puritanical stance like this against fiction when real life is, if anything, going to become WORSE as a result. People have fantasies for a reason, and entertaining those fantasies through fictional mediums does not hurt anyone. If, SOMEHOW, it hurts YOU, then that means you forgot that you have the power to simply say "no" and walk away. Visa is doing this purely to take control, and they have even admitted to it.

I don't think I like the idea of letting a company that exists solely to process payments suddenly use their position as the ultimate release valve to destroy everything they hate, especially if what they hate exists more to society's benefit than to its detriment. And I'm especially tired of the hypocritical puritan rhetoric people like them use to justify their acts of regression as some great return of morality--the very thing they demonstrably oppose by doing things like this.

Don't go cashless. It gives Visa the power to control everything they want to. Hold onto physical money.

Avoid (if you can...)

Banning stuff just because you want to makes you a dictatorship. If you are basically a monopoly (compatition does the same) it a worst. It sanattack on ourfreedom of speech! We can't allow a company like this to exist!

I can't put a Zero

I can't put a Zero, so I had to put one star!!!

I was on facebook and saw an offer from Starlink of a small disk with lifetime service included for $199. I instantly purchased.

I got a reference email reply. Upon examining the email address, it was unusual. I knew I had. I tried to reply, but it would not reply.

I called the Bank of Nova Scotia, and they transferred me to the claims department of Visa. I was told it would be no problem. They would have to give it 30 days, then they would refund me if it is a fraud.

About two months later, I got a form letter saying I was at fault for not protecting my card Info. I then called the credit card department and explained everything.

They told me I had to open an appeal! Like I was in court! I know they have insurance to deal with the fraudulent activity of their clients. This should prompt them to deal with us fairly. They refused to pay me and then slandered me in a letter form as the criminal.

I lost $200. They get away with it. I do not expect to hear from them for another two months. I told then I am taking this to a lawyer for the slander side of this form letter they sent.

I have not heard from them at all!! Stay away from VISA!!!! They are as bad as the scammers.

Versuche den Kundenservice über die 0800....zu erreichen scheitern. Nach etlichen Versuchen aufgegeben.
Dasselbe bei der Mail Adresse. Man bekommt einfach keine Antwort.
ABSOLUT UNTERIRDISCH
Ich werde mir einen anderen Anbieter suchen.

Pay By Master card on distance purchasing

Pay By Master card if you have one. The difference between Visa and Master card on distance purchasing. Did you know if you purchase on line or telephone, with Master card, if the product isn't as described you could be eligible for charge back they refund the purchase price, any postage including your return postage. That is as it should be, but the rules Visa work with are different. According to Visa charge back eligibility allows the customer to return the goods and receive a refund for the product only. So you will be paying for seller's postage and your own. What a rip off

Macht misbruik financiële markt

Vandaag bleek dat ik geen transactie meer kan zien van de maand augustus. Na een telefoontje blijkt hoe visa hiermee omgaat. Omdat ik overstap naar een goedkopere card (omdat de aankoopverzekering moeilijk doet en niet betaald en de gold dus te duur is) zou de overgang naar de nieuwe card de oorzaak zijn waarom ik niet kan zien wat er word gedaan op mijn rekening van visa. Ik vind dit verzonnen omdat mijn goldcard geldig blijft tot mijn nieuwe card is geactiveerd. Maar die heb ik helemaal nog niet ontvangen. Mijn inziens doet visa wat ze willen met de klanten, omdat zij weten dat je geen vakantie kunt bedenken waar je geen creditcard nodig hebt en de meeste andere card niet worden geaccepteerd. Ik vind dit macht misbruik en mij belemmeren om mijn geldzaken op een goede manier te beheren. En dan praat iedereen dat de mensen bij fraude niet opletten. Ik vind dit machtsmisbruik met betrekking tot financiële handelingen ten koste van mijn persoon

I was looking for a 👎 not a star

I only give it I star because there is no 👎. I received my new Serve card a week ago. I activated the card and haven't looked at it until today, a week ago exactly. I had problems signing into my account because of this crazy verify puzzle. Long story short. Could not sign in so I had to say I forgot my password. That's when I was asked to put in my CVV #
The number was faded out on the card. I thought it was the store card that I had previously bought. No it was the one I received a week ago. The card look like I had it for a year or two. 16 digit code was fading out also. The 16 digit was also located on the strip so I was lucky to read. the 16 digit card number is not what I needed to restore my account. Like I said my CVV number was faded out. That was the # I needed. How convenient

The best thing out of this experience is that I never put money on this card. Also i read some of the horror stories in these reviews, Boy did I doge a bullet!!! Sheeeesh

Disgusting practices from this company and CEO Ryan McInerney, forcing companies to censorship their content only because they don't like or find it offensive using nonsense policy to justify their illegal actions.
What's next pressuring people or companies about race, gender, or political opinion ?

Dont activate early credit/debit cards or your can get trapped far from home!!

Just so you know, Visa also changed their url to USA.VISA to hide all the negative reviews they are getting.

If you have VISA debit cards or credit cards that are being changed out early, DO NOT ACTIVATE new cards, or you can get trapped far from home, with zero resources to get you back!!
••Example of early change, a credit card says expires 12/28 but due to some reason, they send a replacement early with new card design but same card# but new expiration date and cciv#.
If you activate the new cards, you will end up with the same chaos my family went through, trapping us three hours from home, with no working card to access our accounts.
Visa made a change and had institutions change all cards out. When the new cards that retain the old card numbers are activated, they all stop working, because Visa's servers swap out the new expiration dates with the old and there is nothing your bank can do to fix this. Its VISAs problem they brush responsibility on the banks, and to hide this issue, they changed their website forwards so looking up their url will get you a new address which causes report websites like this, to not show their true bad reports. Usa.visa shows 4 reports when they have complaints in the thousands due to this issue.
