I was recently traveling abroad and needed to make an emergency visit to A&E. VHI were ready to assist, and acted immediately by opening a case and providing hospital with guarantees. They also provided me with an emergency SMS contact who responded immediately to all queries. This was very efficient, well organized service.
I've been with VHI for 3 years. I've generally just had great service and all bills paid. Recommended.

I’m stunned at the experience we’ve had this evening. Ive had a very bad flu including nausea, pain in my abdomen, frequent bathroom visits and a fever all day. I decided to goto vhi this evening, the one in dundrum - They have yet to update their Google business info to inform people that they relocated to Carrickmines - we got there and then had to reroute to Carrickmines, expecting to be seen of course as we pay €400 PER MONTH for family healthcare insurance. The new clinic isn’t even listed on Google Maps as of now and the dundrum clinic is still live with opening times and no mention that it’s been shut down.
I was simply told, at 18:10 that they are not taking any more patients today and it is now booking only….since when ? People pay those prices and use your service due to the fact it’s a walk in urgent care clinic. What am I paying for? You close at 20:00. I was asked to detail my symptoms and the receptionist then said since they are serious I may be seen - she went to talk to the doctors and they told her to pass on their recommendation I go to a&e….refused to even come out and take a look at me. There were less than five people in the waiting area.
I was denied medical attention almost two hours before the clinic was closing and told to go to St. James - We are now on our way to sit in st. James with a 4-8 hours wait time to be seen. This is not what I pay five thousand euros a year for and I will be making a formal complaint tomorrow, We will also be cancelling our 15 year loyalty to VHI tomorrow and taking our business to Laya.
Shame on you and your nonchalant unbothered staff.

I can't even give one star for this horrible insurance company. Every claim has been rejected on the bases of pre-existing condition. They claim covid19 was a preexisting condition!!!an infectious disease ffs!!!They wanted to rob your money only they will find a reason to reject a claim

PLEASE BE AWARE VHI TRAVEL INSURANCE WITH COVID COVER DOES NOT COVER YOU IF YOU CANCEL YOUR HOLIDAY DUE TO BEEN A CLOSE CONTACT OF SOMEONE IN YOUR TRAVELLING PARTY WHO TEST POSITIVE (EXAMPLE: FAMILY MEMBER).
WILL ONLY COVER YOU IF YOU TEST POSITIVE.
SO AVOID THE POLICY UNLESS YOU PLAN TO TRAVEL WHEN IN CLOSE CONTACT TO SOMEONE POSITIVE.
POLICY IN PLACE SINCE DECEMBER 2021 AND WAS IN FORCE DURING THE PEAK OF PANDEMIC (XMAS AND NEW YEAR PERIOD). GOVERNMENT GUIDELINES TO SELF ISOLATE WHEN IN CLOSE CONTACT WITH SOMEONE WITH COVER.
GETS WORSE AS WILL COVER YOU WHEN TRAVELLING AND HAVE TO CURTAIL THE TRIP IF SOMEONE IN TRAVELLING PARTY TEST POSITIVE FOR COVID 19.
NOT SURE WHY THE COVID COVER FOR CLOSE CONTACT IS DIFFERENT BETWEEN CANCEL A POLICY AND CUT SHORT A TRIP.
JUST MAKING PEOPLE AWARE AS YOUR CLAIM WILL BE REFUSED.
DOES NOT GIVE PEACE OF MIND WHICH IS WHY INSURANCE IS MEANT TO EXIST.

Bad online consultation experience
Horrible experience with an online consultant. Arrogant, condescending and rude. He wrote in the notes that my English was poor. Well, I wasn’t aware that my proficiency in English language is being examined. What was actually poor was his attitude, his ability to ask the right questions and to listen. Totally not personable and made me very uncomfortable.

Was told I would be issued with a prescription for a topical antibiotic with the online doctor (still awaiting this prescription 6 hours later and they’re now closed!!). Was a waste of time as I now have to attend the swift care clinic tonight anyway as I know I need oral antibiotics.

Being a new member to VHI through a company provided benefit, we were guided to what VHI can cover and which falls under state healthcare.
Advise on how best to obtain treatment for each was precise and helpful.

Incredibly slow to answer their phones
Incredibly slow to answer their phones. They blame coronavirus and working at home (1.5 years into the pandemic). Then you end up getting cut off. I have never encountered a company that puts so little into their customer care division as VHI International
As a client
As a client, they fob you off on an ongoing basis when you suggest an improvement to their service. They leave all communication to junior staff who have no idea of the implications despite addressing issues to seniors. In a nutshell, they simply do not give a dam, you are a number in the system and that's that. Place you business with an organisation which has the capability to listena nd learn!

VHI dental. Absolutely infuriating service. Claim submitted in April, nearly August now and still waiting. Being passed from person to person and all ask for the same information again!! After a string of emails and phone calls from me, I am still waiting. I asked politely and tried demanding for someone to call me back and no-one has. I feel like a pestering beggar and this service is costing me money!!!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND VHI DENTAL!!!!!!!
Horrible customer support
Today I received a service from online doctor. He was 11 min late. Didn't even acknowledge or apologize that he was late. I was referred to the Emergency. I had to call the online doctor for referral sent via email as my app didn't download. I waited more than 18min and they weren't able solve my issues. I am a Google employee and our service should be platinum. Not even close! I will raise this to People ops internally too.

Outstanding experience
I’ve had VHI for a few years and never had to use it at all. At the end of December I decided to go and check for an injury that wasn’t getting better.. due to the pandemic I was reluctant in going but I’m glad I did. I am so highly impressed with the swift clinic in Dundrum.. from the reception to the X-Ray ... everyone caring, attentive.. clear information given and guidance at all times. Dr. Fardeen Who took care of me was great... explained me everything about my complaints etc can’t recommend enough. Will be upgrading in Feb. Thank you to the team!
