Vague table of benefits, any reason not to pay up
They have any excuse not to pay for anything. Spent €370 on scan & consultant fee and I haven't been able to claim €1 back.
Poor app/great team
Vhi claim team is great! However the App is poor. Not reactive, always delayed. Once you have submitted a claim receipt you have no chance to edit or just add a note.

I don't understand all the negatively, I find vhi wonderful, the most pleasant people on the phone. I was with laya and used waited 45 mins, and all the scans in the affedia centre were sold out to the public. Vhi swift clinic are for members only, in an out in 50 mins. People need to make sure their happy with Der cover and that their covered. Vhi can't just decide their not paying out that's a lawsuit. Look and read Ur terms and conditions before u buy

I pay a premium of 3K a year to VHI and I cannot get any Day to Day care service from their online consultants, because it is never available to book.
If you wish to book an urgent appointment for an online GP consult, for example, for your child, then the earliest booking is always, several days away. Why would anyone want to book a GP appointment, several days in the future, but this is what is on offer from VHI.
They will provide a ridiculous argument that this service is outsourced and it's not their problem, but the contract is between VHI and the individual, not the outsourced party; so it is their problem, but they will not accept that.
I have a vulnerable son and have raised several complaints re the lack of care but am constantly referred to the 12 month contract that I am bound to; despite the fact that they can't and don't deliver anything.
My policy permits my son to 7 independent online GP consults, per annum. We are 3 months from the end of the annual term and we have yet to have an online consult, because they are NEVER available.
I have a complaint open with the Financial Ombudsman as this is my last resort.
I urge anyone considering taking out a Healthcare policy to avoid this disgrace of an organisation and to choose Laya instead; who are much more professional.

VHI Clinic Airside
Just been to the VHI clinic and had a very pleasant experience. From onagh and Kieva on the front desk to Libby and Sandra the 2 nurses I attended all were incredibly nice and efficient ! and then Dr Geerish was outstanding such a lovely Doctor , he was so detailed in my check up had such a kind personality.

AVOID - Being billed for their mistake
I made a claim against my life insurance that I was entitled to. This was paid, when I submitted the second receipt (again that I was entitled to) they then said they made an error the first time and I owe them money for their mistake.
So not only did they not pay for my entitlement, they then want me to pay back the funds they approved.
Avoid VHI they are not worth it.

DO NOT USE VHI HEALTH INSURANCE!! I had the VHI International plan for almost 3 years while seconded to London. This costs just under £1,800 per year. I only made two medical claims during that period and on both occasions found that VHI will fight tooth and nail to refuse even relatively small once-off claims to see a specialist consultant (involving just a few hundred £). I would not like to find out how VHI will behave is you were to submit a larger claim (e.g. for surgery). VHI draw out the claims process in a hope that you will simply give up. By way of example, my optometrist referred me to an eye specialist due to a sudden decline in vision. This was incorrectly assessed (and rejected) as an optical benefit and following a lengthy (but successful) complaints process VHI was forced to reassess the claim. The second time around VHI argued that the referral letter from the optometrist wasn’t sufficient to support the £400 claim (£335 net excess) for a single appointment with an eye specialist on the basis that it doesn’t contain a diagnosis. The letter clearly states that I needed to be checked for underlying conditions that might have caused the sudden deterioration. Don’t waste your money (or time) on VHI insurance.
Carrickmines Swift Care is a disaster…
Carrickmines Swift Care is a disaster for walk in patients. There seems to only be priority given to appointment slots with no designated nurse for walk ins. The service is dreadful. if you’re an emergency that couldn’t afford the time to make an appointment you can expect long waits. You’ll be offered pain relief as an acknowledgment of the length of time you’ve been waiting but that’s it. I experienced a three hour wait with no triage to ascertain ‘walk in’ queue priority. VHI need to look at why there is no one designated to look after walk ins? Is that not the whole point of urgent care? Very disappointing for VHI members with an emergency! To add insult to injury you’re expected to queue again on your way out to pay. Surely this should be done at the point of check in. Very disappointing overall. That said the care given when you are finally seen is excellent.

Dental Portal is not working at all
Just wanted to submit my claim via the "new dental portal but unfortunately, I'm just getting server error messages every single time I try to submit. Then I called the service line to submit my claim via phone and was advised to email my claim, where I received an email saying it takes up to 5 days to get a reply. The benefits of my plan are great but whenever I try to claim stuff back or want to get a treatment plan confirmed VHI goes silent on me and end up having to pay for the treatments myself even tho it would've been covered by VHI.
I would not recommend choosing VHI dental to anybody and I'll also report my feedback to my company.

My mother and father have been with vhi over 40 years. My mam this year had to have a hysterectomy, and chemotherapy for ovarian cancer, she had to have a biopsy on her lung, not covered by VHI for one single thing! The HSE covered those ops. Absolute sham of a company. When you need them most. I would AVOID!!!!
VHI deliberately frustrate their customers.
VHI provides you with the ability to change bank account details online, so change the Direct Debit bank you're using. What they don't tell you is that this functionality doesn't work, it only looks like it does.
They only tell you it doesn't work after you think you've changed the details online and you get a bounced DD from the bank. When you call them they tell you, oh you can't do that online, even though the button online says, 'Update Payment Details'.
When you talk to their payments people on the phone it's like you're talking to a different company, perhaps it is?
Looking at the other poor reviews here it's also very clear that they don't even bother to read and reply to their unsatisfied customers. Not sure who the head of CX is but they need to broaden their view.
Excellent service at VHI Swiftcare Carrickmines
I needed minor surgery. Dr Malathi performed the surgery, was very efficient, kind and gentle. She also phoned me a week later to check on my treatment progress.
Follow up care has been superb from both in-house and "at home" nursing staff. All very attentive and pleasant. Every appointment has been on time. My thanks to all of you.
I detest VHI
I detest VHI, I found my experience with them to be expensive and unsatisfactory, the health workers I had access to were fantastic but VHI themselves are poor.

Attended VHI swiftcare clinic in Swords today. I must say the staff of nurses and doctors were exemplary in their care for my mother. I just want to say a big thanks to all working this Saturday 21st May 2022.

Stay away from this Health Insurance Provider!!!
From 2016 to 2018 I was with Laya, from 2018 to earlier this year, 2022, I was with Irish Life and had no issues at all. I managed all my family members (Wife and daughters) from my account, if I needed to contact support regarding my spouse she wouldn't need to be present and most important, those basic services like massage, vaccinations, prescriptions were always included.
Well, with VHI is completely the opposite, I mean, when they introduce you the product it seems perfect, or at least as good as the others, but it isn't.
As mentioned, one of the benefits I use the most is massage as I'm sitting all day and my back kills me, and they said "We also cover massage", BUT, they forgot to mention an important thing, while with the other providers the practitioner just needs to have an IMTA cert, with VHI you can only get massages from accredited Physiotherapists (what?!). Then, when they say they cover vaccinations and you check your claims section and that vaccination is there for you to choose (in my case chicken pox for my daughters) that doesn't mean they will cover it, at least in my case. They said my plan (Company Plan Extra Level 2 (Excess)) does not cover it, and when I checked what it covers, OMG, I was like, worst decision ever. 450€ per month for me, my wife and my 2 daughters and it doesn't have half of the stuff we were used to with the other providers. Guess what, I reached to my HR and asked them to cancel it straight away and signed back with ILH. If you're happy with them, good for you, but if you'd like real cover choose any other over this.
