Augusto 20 I had a friend put $500 dollars on this card for me. The money was to be for medical expenses. The card does not work. I tried to use it over the phone, I tried to have the card swiped. Its always denied. I contacte the company and they said that if the card was not used they would refund the money. I still have recieved nothing. This money can be the diffrence in me ever walking again or not. It took me time to save the money for this and I can not afford to loose it.
I am a ending this review, I would like to give you more detailed information.
I am currently in Nicaragua and the money from this card was to pay for a plane ticket back to the US so I can get surgery. The card was bought in the US and I attempted to use it at American Airlines in the US. I recognize the card May not work in Nicaragua but all attempted interaction took place in the US.

The card was purchase at a Walmart in Miami Florida on August 20.
After email exchanges with this company, i am done doing things their way. Instead I will post my experience on social media sites. I will ask my friends and followers to do the same that others dont fall into this trap. I encourage others to do the same. There are also 2 fb pages where people complain about vanilla gift cards and share their nightmares.

⭐☆☆☆☆ Absolute nightmare. Locked my $500 immediately and ruined my plans.I bought a $500 Vanilla Prepaid card at a retail store, and it was successfully activated at the register. Following instructions, I called the number on the back of the card to check it. The very first time I tried to use it for an urgent online purchase, the system locked the card instantly.Now, my $500 is completely frozen. I am currently out of town and needed these funds today for specific online purchases. Instead, customer service told me I have to wait days for a replacement card to arrive in the mail—which does me no good while I am traveling.Customer service was incredibly difficult to deal with, showed zero empathy, and refused to offer any compensation or help for the massive inconvenience they caused. This company effectively hijacked my money. Avoid Vanilla Prepaid at all costs. They will leave you stranded.

Easy process, quick delivery (egift)

I've never had an issue with the gift cards for less than $100. Last purchase was $450. If i could give a negative stars, -100 stars. Buying the card was not the issue. Having it hacked and no help from customer service is. Started on June 30th, 2026. A week after purchased the gift card. i tried to use it and it was declined. went on to the website. stated something was wrong with card. Called number on back of card. Got a rep, they stated to send in all the documents to an email. proof of purchase, my license with my number removed. bill showing my address and name. edited all the vital information for protection. i was told i would be getting an update within 7 days. i is now Sept 11th. After numerous calls and emails. i am told it will take a few more days and to wait for update. i am under the impression no one is handling the fraud cases. i'm just getting the run around. So buyer beware!!!! if you card gets hacked on a large sum. Don't expect any help. the call center is out of the country as well.
Update: Sept 18th, 2026. Received email after this review. Email stated I would receive refund check in 7-10 days. I will update if I do receive it. but it is still unsatisfactory of Vanilla Gift card support to not respond until this review was published. Vanilla Phone support kept telling me I would get an email response after 24-48 hrs each time. Never did. Until after this review.

I love the easiness of ordering, and I love tha they verify your payment with your institute. It also gets delivered at a timely fashion.

Vanilla gift cards are so great to give. The process is so easy. Love giving the "use your own photo" for special occasions.

The gift card comes with a website and toll free number for support and card balances. But you cannot use the card number because everyone requires a name on the card. If you enter your card number on their website, there's no way to know if the 19-digit number is 16 digits plus the CVS or not. If you call the toll free number, there's an automated system and no way to talk to a real person. This company has no interest in providing a product or service or helping after the sale is made.

100% fraudulent business.
Took funds & delivered fake/unusable gift card.
Email given to Paypal is unmonitored & useless.
Several phone numbers all lead to foreign speakers who just waste time for zero results.
Paypal does not cover such losses at all.
BUYER BEWARE !!

Addendum after seller's deliberately wrong info request:
This was for an e-gift card, delivered via email.
Thus there is NO physical card with numbers to share.
This seller is very tricky & uses misdirection to hide behind.

Update: I tried updating a photo with a Happy Birthday message to my Brother-in-law. It was a decent picture of both him and his wife from when they were teenagers with a simple Happy Birthday message on the photo. This time my Happy Birthday Visa Custom Card was rejected. This is my 2nd order. The 1st Photo Uploaded Vanilla Visa Card went perfectly and was again a basic decent birthday message. The quality of the card is just as clear as the original and lining everything up to allow for the Visa insignia along with the Vanilla and DEBIT designations work out perfectly. I took my business to another Custom Photo Visa Gift Card provider service. They accepted my birthday wish photo I uploaded for the Visa Gift Card without issue. That service is Giftcards.com. They require that it be a .jpg format, which it was already in. My Brother-in-law will be so happy when he receives his Custom Photo on his Visa Birthday Card with his wife of over 40 years. I was thrilled to find another service that used real people instead of AI to review customer uploads. Giftcards.com was also easy to use.

STOP buying these cards as gifts!!!
They're a nightmare!
They block purchases, there's no customer service whatsoever.
Please stop purchasing.
They will be forced to step up or step off!
These are NOT specialty cards to one business or franchise.
They attempt to hold on to the monies and not release the actual gift.

This company is a joke, I purchased a card and checked the balance to make sure it was activated, within 5 minutes of checking the balance and driving to the store it the funds were used in a different town and I called after a long exhausting battle I finally got through to a customer service agent they said the funds were on hold and I would have them back in five days. What a lie that was I never got the money back the stolen funds were not returned and they keep telling me I used the card. I kept telling them how can I use a card in five minutes in a town I don’t even live in.
They are crooked and will not help you if your funds have been stolen. DO NOT PURCHASE CARDS from this crooked company and useless customer service.

I’ve always thought these gift cards were a scam and today proved me right when I tried to use one that I received as a gift, in-person, at Lowe’s to go towards appliances. I activated it following the instructions the day prior and today it was declined. I had to pause my transaction, I then re-checked the card balance online and it said the card was deactivated for “security reasons”. The associate at Lowe’s was patient with me as I called the number on the card and was informed the transaction that I was trying to make “was suspicious activity” and that I would have to wait for a new card in the mail taking up to 10 business days with no option to reactivate the current card and continue with my transaction, despite being able to give every detail of the card in my possession. What makes even less sense is they then asked me what address to send the new card to when they think my current use and possession of the card is suspicious. I have my doubts the new one will work, if it ever arrives at all. Please do not waste your money on these cards as they have a fee to buy them and often do not allow the recipient to use them as they intend to. Cash, store gift cards, Venmo or other money transfer apps are definitely the way to go.
