All very good for 3 years making my grey hair darker then they changed the formula this year and it now makes the hair blond/ginger, not a good look at all!

Yep - ginger AF , and not a good ginger , more of a dirty old man who smokes 50 a day ginger. Waste of money considering it used to be so good

All the previous ones, hair a terrible orange, the Z22 batch is the one , which has now gone back to hair a natural dark colour, I did email company and they did say they would send out a free bottle, 2 weeks later, two bottles came, with the z22 batch on, it works for me again.

Vary disepointed, my hair is orange. I'll probable have to shave now.

I've been using the old Control GX 2in1 for years, and it's been Great!...a Saviour! I have recently bought the New “Improved” Formula without realising it was 'New Formula', but the result was a ginger colour to my hair. I thought it must have been an old batch or something. Then, seeing the multitude of negative reviews on Boots / Superdrug and Trustpilot websites, I understand why, and I'm horrified to find it's a New Formula!
The box code number was Z22A253, this contradicts some previous reviews which suggest codes Z22 are fine. It definitely wasn’t in my case; it turned my hair a ginger colour. Unless someone can tell me otherwise….this ginger offering seems to tie in with the Aloe Vera & Coconut oil ingredients added and mentioned on the box too.
Why change something when it's not broken? How could the company not see this is a different and disturbing product that will turn away 1000's of customers! Please return to the Old Formula...the New Formula is literally embarrassing and thousands of customers have lost face and faith with Just For Men Control GX .

" New Formula " which turns your hair orange! what a shame, I've used this for years and it worked very well.

I've been using Control GX for just over five years. It has always been excellent: because I work away I usually buy a couple of tubes at a time so have been using 'old stock' without realising that the formula had changed (as per the posts below). I opened a new tube last week and after about three days noticed that my hair had got gingery bits, and then two days after that a colleague asked if I'd dyed my hair ginger. I laughed it off by saying it must have been the unseasonably sun in the UK bleaching my hair or something.

I realised the formula had changed because the water wasn't dark grey/purple in the shower but didn't think this would lead to embarrassment. This is especially galling because the tube size has decreased by 20% so I've bought less stuff and got the wrong colour hair.

I've emailed JFM to ask what is going on (before I read these reviews) requesting help so hopefully they'll come through.

I have used this product since it came out with great results,the new formula has ruined my hair,it is now copper,how can they get away with this ,absolute disgrace,still no answers as to why they have changed it,will NEVER by again,avoid at all costs

I have used this product for a few years, I sometimes let my hair go white for a few months and then use control gx. I bought a new bottle the other day now I look like a 70s garnny with a blue rinse.
I look stupid, even dame edna everage wouldn't be seen with this colour. Anyone want to try and take an action against these jokers?

Control GX now turns your hair Orange. I have used this product for many years without issue, however, your new formula is awful and has left my hair an awful orange colour. Why is this product still being sold when it is not fit for purpose?

UPDATE: Followed recommendations on here and looked for batch code Z22. Much better results similar to old formula. But, sadly, no response from JFM despite emailing customer service.

I can't believe that I have found these reviews. I have used this product for 2 years and LOVED it. Bought a replacement bottle and I have orange hair and look like Beaker from the Muppets. Obviously, the company did not did enough testing. From what I can see there is a new version that has come back to market so I am off hunting for that replacement product now. Thank you for your reviews...

First time of use reacted with cyst that had been near my eyebrow for years and made it grow. Now have a huge scar on my face where the hospital had to operate to remove it. Product should be avoided and should not be permitted for retail

Jon, the batch code is embossed into the top of the box. Z22 is the one.

A few days on and resuts are pretty much like the original! :-)

I won't be expecting my free bottle from JFM any time soon then...

Control GX,….ditto pretty much everything Chris D said. The new dark bottle design ones seem to be back to the original or at least a lot better than the orange fiasco before. I also contacted the company and they promised a complimentary pack, when it comes in….that was about 9 months ago and am still waiting! Not sure where to look for the batch code, I thought it was on the crimped bit at the top of the bottle, but that number doesn’t seem to relate to any you are quoting. Better, but Just For Men or whoever’s running this, need to pull their finger out a bit more. J

I bought 4 packs of this product with the Z21XXXX batch.
I had to stop using it because my hair was turning orange. Yes orange!!!!!
IMHO the product that works(does NOT turn your hair orange) is the one that starts with Z22 batch and not just the one that starts with ZXXXXXX.......be careful!

I’ve used Just for Men for about 8 years with no problems until last September 2021 when I woke up with a itchy beard. At the time I did not think it was the beard dye as I’d used it for years with not problems. The next time I used it I noticed the dye was giving me a burning sensation. I washed it off straight away. That day my beard area started to itch and the skin was red. By the nighttime my chin area and both side of my face swelled and was leaking fluid. They obviously are using something different in the product even though I’ve read that they deny this.

Old one was great - why did they have to ruin it? Hair goes brownish red ... awful.

I agree with all the same comments regarding turning your hair ginger/orange. However, I complained to JFM a few months ago via their website. They responded quite quickly and also apologiesd. They offered to send me out a free bottle once they changed their formula. The bottle turned up in the post last week and the batch number starts with Z22. The outer packaging looks the same but the bottle itself is a different design. More importantly, the new formula hasn't turned my hair ginger/orange and over 3 days I've definitely noticed a positive change. Fingers crossed they get this new formula out in the shops ASAP.

I said I would follow up my previous review after I had used the product. I can confirm that the "Batch Z" does NOT turn your hair orange! I have been using it for just over 2 weeks and my hair is dark again with very little signs of grey hair, and no hair fall out. Although the box says to leave it on for 2 minutes, basically the longer you leave it on the more it colours. My hair was completely silver at the sides and about 60% silver on top so it took longer to remove the grey at the sides than on top, but i found after a few shampoos that it was starting to look too dark on top and too light at the sides, it didn't look at all natural. So over the next two days I just focused on shampooing the sides and leaving it on for 20-25 minutes and this did the trick. I now have same colour coverage all over. Just remember to look on top of the box for the batch beginning with Z.

Not even worth 1 star I bought beard and mustache dye black and ended up with chemical burns and itching on my face and if I'm not compensated I will go to the media about this ,as since I've read online that so many men have ended up sick with burns ,it's a absolute joke and this company is gunna end up with a massive lawsuit on there hands , hopefully I will be compensated and they will take this crap off the shelves before any other men end up the same as me and others ,I'm telling you do not put this crap on your face you will regret it
