I have just finished the Andy Rouse Wildlife course. All I can say is Brilliant!.
I can honestly say its one of the best photography courses I have done. Andy is so knowledgeable and experienced yet he is so down to earth and has a great personality.
He conveys his passion not only for the photography but also his respect for the wildlife he is imaging.
Great course, very informative, really enjoyed it.

Just completed the astrophotography course, excellent content and tips, really enjoyed the deep space section, not sure I want to go down that rabbit hole, or should I say black hole. 😂 Love that you have included the images to practice with. 10 out of 10.

Prior to signing up with “The School of Photography”, I had watched a number of videos from various people teaching photography. All were excellent, and I learned a lot from them and I wanted more.
I wanted to sign up with someone to get the both the courses and the feedback to improve my photography.

It came down to the instructor on the videos. I found many very good but I gravitated to Marc Newton from TSOP as I found him easy to watch, informative and felt he was talking to me in the videos.

I decided to sign up, and have not looked back. I have not completed all of the courses offered yet but I am working through them. The courses are easy to watch and follow and you can stop and start as needed. Life does get in the way from time to time and you need to go out and try what you learned.

Two courses that were of particular interest to me are Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.

I am in the middle of the Lightroom course at this time and specifically in the middle of the Masking portion. OMG! So transformational in my editing. I had picked up editing as I went along and thought I was doing well but now realize that there was so much more I could do. I am revisiting my previous edits and masking is the way to go. I cannot wait for the rest of the course.

Lightroom, is a full featured and powerful tool, but Marc has a way of breaking it down and making it understandable.

Since I signed up, almost a year ago now, a couple of new courses have been added which, is awesome.

Keep it up TSOP.

After reviewing numerous online photographic courses and reading their customer reviews, I settled on ‘The School of Photography’ (TSOP). It’s always difficult making a decision about such things as you don't want to feel ‘ripped off’ after spending a lot of money on a new adventure that you will invest a lot of time in but never the less, I went ahead and subscribed to TSOP which given what I know now the cost is very reasonable.

TSOP was created by Marc Newton who features not only as an instructor but as a guide and mentor. Marc’s teaching style for me is very engaging, he is ‘down to earth’ he talks to you not at you. Marc encourages you to get out there and experiment with your camera, getting to know what it will do as photos rarely turn out want you want them to be first time you click that shutter.

When you open the first page of the course you are initially presented with the ‘Beginners Photography Course’ which is a very good introduction into the basics of photography, i.e. getting to know your camera, understanding aperture, ISO and shutter speed and numerous other topics. Marc presents all this information not only in his video presentations but the course also provides a ‘Task Sheet’ which details all what you find in the videos.

Following on from the initial ‘Beginners Photography Course’ you are presented with numerous other courses i.e. Lightroom, Headshots, studio lighting, landscape, long exposure photography and several others. My initial thoughts were “but very little of this is of interest to me” Not So I discovered. So I started looking through several of the subjects I thought I wouldn't be interested in and discovered that even if you are not interested in studio lighting because you prefer landscape photography you will take something away with you and understood something about lighting or what your camera can do so don't dismiss anything. The courses are presented by established photographers and are experts in their field.

There is also a ‘Community’ within TSOP where members can chat to each other and submit their photographs for some peer critique.

On top of all this, Marc sets out a photographic project, challenge each month where he provides the subject matter and wants you to go out and take photographs with your own interpretation of that subject, submit them and he will then select a few submissions which he presents in a video with his own comments.

TSOP also offers a help line/email for any queries you may have concerning the course.

Finally, would I recommend this course? Absolutely, even if you are a total beginner or experienced professional everyone can learn something from TSOP.

Superb member based photography school offering a wide range of courses and tutorials covering all aspects of photography. Marc newton delivers the course content in a way that makes is engaging and easy to learn. Highly recommend !!!

I am so glad I chose The School of Photography to teach me how to use my camera! I've been a "photographer" for years (point and shoot, phone cameras), but have always dreamed of learning how to use a real camera. The lessons, teachers, and community have been helpful and easy going. It has made becoming a real and proper photographer seem like something that's within my reach!

One of the best parts about the school of photography is the real life application. As a visual, hands-on learner, I need to see things in action, not just read about them. The video lessons and practical application through assignments have made learning not only fun, but memorable.

I was encouraged by the fact that the instructors want me to start where I am with the equipment I have; I didn't feel pressured to buy expensive equipment. It's not about the equipment, it's about what you can do with it!

The Beginner's Photography course was a foundation that was so necessary and helpful for me. It's the foundation on which I will build the rest of my photography learning journey. Even if I didn't take any of the other courses, I would have been lightyears ahead of where I was before. The in-depth training on Lightroom and Photoshop have made a huge positive impact on my ability to store/categorize and edit photos. I've also completed the Portrait, Macro, and Landscape lessons in the portal, and am currently immensely enjoying the Wildlife Photography course. I've loved watching as different photographers use different equipment and methods, but all have the same basic philosophy that we take photos for ourselves: it doesn't matter if others don't like our edit or crop. We take photos from the heart, and they reflect our own personal style.

Thank you for providing an affordable, comprehensive way for folks to go from wannabe photographers to the real thing. I so appreciate it!

I had never heard of the school of photography and it was only when I purchased the book online whilst reading through I saw they had a website so I took a look and haven't looked back since.

This course has really helped me to get a much better understanding of it all. 

I have never been great at learning new things but Marc has such a way of teaching that you really do learn and take it all in. 

Since being on this course my photographs have improved every time and I am able to put what I have learnt into practice.

The best bits from the school of photography I guess that it would be that there's this whole little community online where you can share your pictures and are there to help,guide and give you support.

Although I’ve been taking the classes slowly because of my schedule. I have seen my photos improving and have appreciated the advice from other members in the Facebook group if I’ve found myself needing additional help.
I’ve referred my Dad to join the school too and I think he’ll be joining me soon.
I’m excited to continue to grow and learn photography through your classes.

I really love everything about the School of Photography. I had previously spent so much money on photography courses, and had I known that the school of photography was around I would have signed up then.

The School of Photography course has been fantastic, I have learnt so much as I was a complete beginner. 
I really like the task notes as I keep them in a folder and can refer to them, when needed. Notwithstanding, the videos that I repeatedly watch. I am continuing on, learning lightroom then plan to do the Macro Photography course. I highly recommend the course and would encourage anyone interested in photography to join as a member. I have already recommended the course to a friend of mine.

Well who knew ........ I have been using lightroom for a good few years now - and yet I am learning SOOOOOOO much from the TSOP tutorial on it - and wish I had done this years ago!! Marc you have just given me hours of my life back having just completed the copy & sync part of the course - Thank you!!!

I have so far completed the Beginners Photography course and Lightroom course. Both were great - I had to unlearn some of what I'd been doing, alongside learning a multitude of new techniques, tips and tools.
Marc has an easy to follow teaching style; excellent delivery, great use of repetition to reinforce messages and instructions.
Assignments and feedback sessions are useful, and I thoroughly enjoyed the live chat with guest photographer Robert Cannis.

Marc Newton's Photoshop course has been an absolute revelation. Despite my previous attempts with various courses on platforms like LinkedIn Learning, Coursera, and YouTube, I struggled to grasp the intricacies of Photoshop. However, Marc's teaching methodology and the comprehensive content he has meticulously curated in this course are exceptional. From the beginning, I saw a significant improvement in my understanding of Photoshop. Even though I've only completed one-third of the course, I created a visually stunning poster that exceeded my expectations. I just completed my Beginners Course. Wow! the wealth of knowledge and information in this course has taken my confidence as a photographer to another level. Just starting my course on Lightroom. On lesson 3 of that module and I already have such a clear understanding of how to set up and navigate through Lightroom (Sidebar: I'm using Lr and the lesson is base on LrC but I'm having zero difficultly following the concepts). These lessons are so comprehensive, clear, concise, thorough, ... I can go on & on with adjectives. Best investment I've made in a long time!

I absolutely loved the 'Complete Guide to Lightroom' course! It was not only incredibly informative but also a lot of fun. The content was well-structured and easy to follow, making it perfect for beginners like me. The instructor's explanations were clear and concise, and the hands-on exercises really helped solidify my understanding. Overall, a fantastic experience that I highly recommend to anyone looking to enhance their photo editing skills.

I am so glad I came across The School of Photography and decided to enroll. I got so much out of the Beginners Photography Course. I thought I had a grasp of the basic’s but with doing the beginners course I realized that there were some significant gaps in my knowledge. I love the choice in courses – currently I am doing the guide to Lightroom and the Long Exposure course. They are excellent. I am especially enjoying the different exercises completed to date in the long exposure course.

I really like the learning structure with the lessons about taking the photo and then the follow up lessons on editing the images. The resources provided have been very helpful in backing up the video lessons. The pdfs have been useful when I am out trying some of the things I have learnt about.

I took some pictures that I liked, but they nearly didn't work because I didn't really understand how to use the camera properly. So I looked online and found the School of Photography. It has made me much more confident with my camera and with Lightroom. I also understand Photoshop much better, although I don't use it much.
I have also learned useful things from other courses on the site, particularly on landscape photography and wildlife photography.

To me the secret of your business and your school is YOU. Your personality seems very sincere and caring. You make complicated issues seem manageable without minimizing them. My wife will sometimes listen in as I take a class, she has no real photography experience, yet she enjoys listening to you explain things in very simple and easy to understand terms. It seems that she may also start to have an interest in photography, which would be fantastic. The other general comment that I would like to share is that I greatly appreciate is how your classes don’t take short cuts. You do a great job of building knowledge by methodically covering fundamental items that I previously skipped in my desire to run out and take pictures. I am learning today, so many things about my camera and photography, that I had skipped over for years. I Love how the classes have been short so that they allow for us to quickly get onto the camera. I think it is important to take the lessons and quickly apply them in real life. I also, love that I can rewatch classes. I have on occasion, felt that I needed to review a previous class. It is quite easy to find the relevant subject and refresh my memory by watching the class a second (or fourth) time.

I am glad I pressed the button to subscribe to the suite of courses offered by TSOP. I am just over half way through the beginners course and I have already learnt more than watching endless YouTube videos. Marc is a great teacher. Highly recommended
