Rockfish Torquay, what a rip off,2 plates of sardines and chips £22.95 each 1 bread roll £3.95 ,won't be going back or recommending

Lyme: Visited in June - no issue with service. July a different matter entirely. Yes it was an evening but same staff so not sure why they felt a complete lack of motivation was appropriate. As for the business model, I'm not buying the sustainability/local spin entirely. The prawns may be "Sustainably caught in Northern Australia" but getting them to the UK, I doubt it. As for wines, only two are English (Sussex) asked for a bottle of their own label sparkling, some time later to be told out of stock, lost £58 sale there. Plenty of French, Portuguese, Spanish of course. How can a restaurant runout of own label wine. it's not that it goes off.
"Tomorrows fish is still in the sea" "sending it to our seafood restaurants each day before lunch" "daily landed" "This will be led by what has been landed by the fleet in Brixham that morning" really? When was Saturdays Sundays and Mondays fish caught? Is it really as portrayed?
On the plus side, they agreed to remove the wine and coffee we never did receive but was on the bill and knocked 10% off - not at our request, we would rather have had good service.

This is my fourth or fifth online order from this company and it is consistently the best online seafood company ever. The fish is wonderfully fresh and beautifully packaged, just perfect in every way. It's not cheap but is well worth the cost to get the best fish around. Well done chaps, keep up the good work

As an OAP with limited funds and an ardent fish lover, I would highly recommend Rockfish as a supplier. I ordered sardines and hake which was excellent thoroughly fresh and made a wonderful meal. The crab had a distinctive metallic taste but wasn’t Inedible. The most important thing for me was the £18 spend, which suited me perfectly, on most fish sites you have to spend a minimum of of at least £50. DPD delivery was excellent too and the packaging great.

We ate at rock fish yesterday, the meals we had were lovely, well cooked and the fish was very fresh. The waiters Hayley, Shan and Freya were most helpful and very friendly. It was a pleasure to eat there.

My friend & I visited Rockfish in Exmouth last Thursday. We went then, particularly because it is ‘mussel month’ Steve, one of the managers explained this, when I went in earlier to ask about it. He went out of his way to be so helpful, giving me a card so I could easily book. My friend & I absolutely love local mussels & fish. We have eaten there before. We chose the traditional Fisherman's mussels to share, which was delicious, accompanied by a glass of good Portuguese white wine to compliment it, advised by Emma our waitress, who was lovely throughout our stay, & was also training a new recruit. We followed the mussels, with the red mullet to share. This dish was also of an extremely high standard, beautifully presented & cooked to perfection. The limitless chips were very crispy & welcome. During & after our meal we spoke with Jess, the manager, who was helping out in the kitchen, & also met & complimented the chef who had cooked our meal. The atmosphere warm & cosy with fires on as it was a stormy day. We sat by the window, which was nice too, even tho it was raining. The staff were all so person centred & friendly, but very professional too, advising us both on what was on offer that day. Our visit to Rockfish Exmouth was a very enjoyable experience. Beautiful fresh and frozen fish! Had 3 deliveries now , the freshest tastiest fish and other seafood we have ever had. Will never buy supermarket fish again .

The sardines were tasteless, laid in oil and tiny! The new potatoes were watery and had been sat in water for ages. There was nothing else with it for £26!
This is the 2nd time I've been, 1st time was a couple of years ago and it was awful. Thought I'd try again and maybe things would have improved, but no.
Total waste of money and time.

Very pleased with today’s visit to Exmouth Rock Fish . We’re regulars at Exeter & we’ve been considering Exmouth our local for ages . Had a friend stay & booked on the terrace . Wanted a window table & Steven the Manager was going to move us , however we were settled in our table . Jason & a young lady looked after us really well . I’ve run restaurants & hotels my whole career so was nervous it might not be great. However it was so relaxed on the terrace, totally different to Exeter restaurant. I preferred it to be honest, relaxed , sea views great service & great food. I can be prickly but Steven was an amazing host & was aware of our needs & expectations. We loved it & had Sardines as starters , super 😍then Fritto Misto first class , after being in Ibiza & Puglia the last few months. Clean oil fresh batter, best yet.
Happy to praise my local Rock dish restaurant. Better than expected. Roll on Topsham & Sidmouth opening..

We have had some great fish meals in Brixham & Totnes while on holiday so thought we would try what we thought would be the best fish restaurant in the area,we was very disappointed,I ordered what I thought would be a lovely fish,at £40 just for the fish I expected more & when I look on rockfish,s website to see the whole sale price is £13.95 I don't see how it costs more than double the price of the fish to cook it ? I ordered the Dover sole,described as flaky but pulled apart in whole pieces,not flaky at all,over priced & not worth the hype

I visited the Torquay Rockfish restaurant on Friday on Friday the 12th of July at 6pm as a group of four, I felt uncomfortable telling you what I thought of the seating and food as I was with my partners mother on a celebration evening and in true British style did not want to cause a fuss.
We were shown to a cramped table of 4 persons, 2 of our party had mobility issues and used walking sticks which proved difficult to get seated. The table also seemed too small for drinks and food for four persons.
But in true British style we soldered on.....not wishing to cause a fuss.
All our party commented on how expensive your menu was, which was awkward for me as I had suggested your restaurant.
I ordered the grilled cod and side salad which undercooked and a very small portion, and the side salad was limp and came already dressed. I was going to share some of my cod with my partner, but my fish was so small, and she ended up giving me some of her chicken.
However, on a positive note the staff were all very attentive and friendly and we left a tip for them.
I will not recommend or come back to your restaurant as it is overpriced, and as a result the food is of poor value.
I hope you post my review along with all the positive reviews you have had written for you.
I have not heard back from the Torquay restaurant.

My day: wake up 05:30. Go for a run. Pick up the morning paper. Doorbell rings - it's DPD with my Rockfish order for breakfast: the freshest, tastiest crabmeat (for one) I've ever tasted. And what's wrong with fresh crabmeat for brekkies? The cod fillet is for dinner tonight. Also... as an old advertising man, I think your line (pardon the pun) 'Tomorrow's fish are still in the sea'. Very clever!

Ate at their Brixham some years ago and was reminded of that when eating at an other restaurant in Weymouth, passing theirs on the promenade as leaving.

Ordered a trial of six hake fillets to be delivered to us (150 miles away) the day after being caught.

They arrived as described, right on time and were absolutely delicious. This is the only company I will be using for fish - and I am a fishaholic - in future and wholly recommend them!

The Rockfish Plymouth restaurant a group of us visited last weekend - whilst the serving staff are marvellous, all the restaurants fish is fried in chilli oil, everything! If you don’t like chilli, and I don’t, then do not go there.
I won’t be going back.

The rockfish restaurant In Weymouth was my introduction into their world of superb fish dining. The quality of the food and service was excellent. Yes it is more expensive than the run of the mill “chippy” but the range of fish available is extraordinary and the portions are enough to satisfy the needs of the vast majority of diners. ( I can’t see many people being dissatisfied).
The staff are very knowledgeable on the catch of the day including the way they are prepared, presented and priced.
A great experience well worth a visit.

Great venue, fish was lovely but very disappointing chips ! Very friendly staff !

We have previously always been very happy customers, but this time we were very disappointed. The staff were excellent, nothing was too much trouble, but we thought that at the price of £24.95 for haddock and chips (the cheapest on the menu and seemingly not as fresh as usual) it was not worth it any more. To us it has sadly lost it's wow factor.

Wow! That’s all I can say really. What a fantastic find, awesome fish delivered next day and always perfect. Well done guys! If you are buying fish from somewhere else, give these guys a try you won’t be disappointed.

We visited Rockfish in Exmouth and had a really enjoyable experience.
The restaurant setting is really nice with a peaceful and authentic atmosphere. We chose to sit in the terrace area which had stunning views out to sea!
The menu had some great choice and it was nice to see local produce being featured at what we thought was a reasonable price and was of good quality. I can highly recommend the fish tacos!
The only reason I have given four stars is because of the service as we found the staff were a little busy so it was difficult to get their attention to request extra drinks etc.
Overall a great experience and would certainly visit again

We visited Rock fish in Exeter, a lovely situated restaurant next to the river. Its clean tidy and well presented with friendly attentive staff, although there were only 8 people in there, so might be different when it's busy.

I ordered the Rockfish tacos. It was very different to the menu description, heavy cumin in a soft wrap, rather than crispy tacos, salsa with avo with a bit of heat. More like falafel with fish fingers. I wouldn't order it again.

What I would order though is what my wife had, the Hake fish n chips, that was sublime, top class. The chips were excellent, perfectly cooked.... I'll definitely return here when I get the fish n chip urge...

As it was our wedding anniversary they brought us 2 glasses of bubbles , lovely touch.

Been back 5 times since this review. Chips excellent Hake brilliant.
