They just DO NOT return the deposite

They just DO NOT return the deposite. From May I try to recieve my money back. I have all documents from my bank that the money, 825 pounds, are on there account from March 8, but they just simply answer " our bank said they do not recieve your money, or simply ignore my emails. They do not give contacts of somebody responsible , only one guy "Jose" who repeats his lie again and again. This place just steals money(((

Nash House is the best!

Staying at the collective in west London and it’s been amazing! Impeccably clean, my room is super cute with its own en suite and a mini kitchenette I share with one other. There’s social things on every day, you just check the chalkboard! I’ve seen reviews complaining of dirtiness but it’s a private room so the cleanliness is up to you? The shared facilities I used so far (big kitchen, outside terrace, the gym) is cleaned regularly, I also like to rewash and wipe surfaces before I use it personally anyway and there’s always products readily available to do that so I cannot complain!
Front staff are wonderful, Daniela showed me around and explained how the services worked - she was super lovely!

Dirty, small and outdated

The hotel rooms are dirty. Cleaning ladies try their best, but the materials are not there (dirty sheets). The room is very small (almost ridiculous) and outdated. The beds are uncomfortable and small. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Poor management

Just an update.
I have now left the collective and feel totally defrauded by them.
All my calls/texts/emails are being ignored.
The manager who replies to complaints does not respond when emailed.

No internet, no heating, tried to defraud me,lack of security

The wifi doesn’t work! Its been 4 months there hasn’t been one day were I have been able to join a meeting and not drop out. I work full time and I am completing a masters part time. I spend all day in teams meetings, calls and lectures. The speed test shows that the internet is unstable. When a colleague or teacher is sharing a screen, you cannot see anything. You drop out of calls every 10 seconds and then get constantly told off for it. You cannot stream or watch netflix, you cannot present on zoom or teams as the internet cannot support this. Cannot upload to sharepoint either which messes up files. The advice I was given by the IT team was to forget the collective network and enter the password EVERY SINGLE TIME I have a meeting or call. This is an absolute joke, I have around 4-5 meetings just at work a day. Who has time to forget and re enter the password. This also does not work!!

Another thing is the heating. For 3 months I’ve had no proper heating and keep on freezing. When I asked for an update there’s always a new story with the main boiler or parts being ordered. You have to have maintenance come and bleed your radiators which then lasts an hour or you go with days with no heating. It is winter and I’m on a higher floor which makes it even more cold. If you want to experience what it’s like in the arctic this is the place for you!

Denying that a payment was received and asking for more money even after confirmation from collective finance team and bank statements were shown. I have never missed a payment in my life and to be told that i will get chased for this is absurd. I sent numerous emails and kept having conversations at reception asking for an update to look into this matter. They denied receiving payments when there’s emails from them confirming they have! Nearly 3 months later and they have finally admitted they have received this after continuous chasing. They do not believe the emails THEY send!

So I left to visit my family and staff members decide to enter my room to check the wifi. The knew how to open my door but did not have the capability to close the door once they’ve left. They left the door open for others to have a field trip and be able to take my things from my room. Every time I leave my room I check my door twice to make sure it is closed. I’ve even sometimes gone back to check this. Yet staff members think it is acceptable to leave my door wide open for others and their acquaintances in my compartment to go through my things. There is no point in trying to be safe or careful as the team will make sure all your things are available for everyone at all times at the cost of your expense. There’s no point in having a key. I cannot comprehend how someone leaves a door wide open against the wall. How does one not realise the door is open? If it was slightly open it can be justified that it looked closed. I just don’t understand how someone can’t see the door is wide open??? I’ve never seen the gym door be unlocked and always have to swipe my card to get in. Yet some staff members cannot apply the same principle or respect to tenants living areas.

All your concerns and basic needs which needs to be met gets ignored. It’s like talking to a brick wall. There is no wifi, freezing, feel unsafe and do not want to leave my things unattended now and worst of all nearly got defrauded.

The facilities are great like the gym, bar and restaurant. Some of the staff members are really friendly and try their best to deal with other people being incompetent. They try and make this a better experience but it is frustrating when nothing gets sorted. These are basic needs. It's unnecessary stress.

Avoid

The Collective haven’t returned our deposit and ignoring all emails and calls.

We moved out 30th Nov and were told our room is spotless with nothing to be deducted and that it would be returned to us within 20 days.

Disappointed

Disappointed at the hygiene here. Our room had dirty cups, sink, spoons and kitchenette area. We had no tea and coffee and the tap was hanging off. I had to go down to reception three times but no joy. We had to go out and when we returned we had one teabag and one coffee but cups & spoons still dirty and tap still hanging off. The shower/toilet stank of sewerage and we couldn't shower for fear of it coming up the pipes. Very disappointing stay.

Filthy rooms and poor service

The hotel from the onset looks lush and appears to be a very good 4 star hotel. However, the reception team are not like most hotels. They handed me my fob without telling me where to go or what floor I was staying at. The lift service is terrible. You could easily wait for 5-10 minutes waiting for a lift and it will probably stop at most floors. The worst part of the stay are the rooms. Filthy and tiny rooms enough for one person. There were two of us staying in a box. There were stains on the walls, the bathroom was tiny. They don't clean the rooms. The breakfast was a strange experience. We waited for approximately an hour and a half for our breakfast even though there were only one other table the entire time.

Small, expensive and dirty room with cockroaches

I have stayed there for 1 month in the collective Canary Wharf, the staff there are friendly. I have read a lot of reviews before moving in I thought I have prepared the worst case scenario however I saw something scary in the room in the middle of the evening!!! Cockroach!! I was panicked and contacted the manager. They come back to me 2 days after saying it was the first time seeing it in the collective. And blaming it might come from me! But I was there only the third day that time. And I didn’t cook or brought any food there.. the pest control come to my room a week later and put bait in my room!!!! I was even more scared to see more of these myself! But he said it probably just one rare case… but few days later I saw another dead body of cockroach in the room!!!!!! Can you imagine how I felt?! I was so scared and even during sleep was thinking about that! I paid almost 3000 euro for a whole month to stay in this so call 4 stars place but I have to experience this?!?!?! I contacted the manager straight away. He didn’t get back to me again after few days. And telling me that I can move out if I want he can refund me the rest 5 days staying. But that time was already mid term break other places were fully booked and he just ask me to move out to solve this. But I have been living in this scary place without someone to do anything about it for 3 weeks. And the manager ignored me after this completely!!!! I cleaned every single corner of my room during the time I stay there I was so afraid to eat anything in the room! I really don’t think it’s a 4 star place. And I know because I already paid so they are not going to do anything helpful.. I just felt helpless and scared when I’m staying there. Not mention I also saw a mouse at the entrance of the collective one evening! I really don’t know how this place manage their hygiene and everything I tell them they don’t believe until they see a image. So I took pics to prove everything I said are true.. apart from this major issue. They also have other small issues like heating not working I had to release the gas in the heating myself everyday!, mold on the soap box in the room, cleaning people come in to my room and left an opened half empty bottle of water in the room, etc..
In conclusion I don’t believe this is a 4 star place and I don’t think it worth the amount of money I have paid! Because I have paid so the manager just ignored me instead of solving the issues..

Filthy, run down, ineffective, uncomfortable, and a waste of money.

I hated every second of my two months living in The Collective (Canary Wharf).

Tiny and completely overpriced rooms set to an unchangeable and uncomfortable sweltering temperature; run down facilities with damaged and worn furniture and fittings; the most worthless gang of front desk staff I have ever encountered, that neither knew how to organise the collection of deliveries or behave professionally - plus they can't be contacted with a simple phonecall when needed; cinema and TV rooms that are nonoperational thanks to defective technology and worthless maintenance staff that are unable to repair them; dirty corridors; elevators that often take 6-8 minutes to arrive and then stop at half the floors in the building (often with nobody waiting there); gross and overpriced laundry facilities that need a good clean and service; disgusting and dirty shared kitchen facilities; lots of noise and disruption (often late at night) that interferes with rest and sleep; a bin room that often has no bins, just piles of filthy rubbish; questionable tenant safety protocols (there was a fire in building before I arrived where tenants felt that they were in danger, were confused and unclear about what to do, and believed safety procedures were flawed and inadequate) and, finally, dreadful communication that failed to address the property going into administration and it's impact on tenants before it broke as a news story.

My advice? Stay away from The Collective. It's a waste of money which could be better spent on any type of short- or long-term accomodation in the area.

Book novotel instead

I would say both me and my partner restrain from complaints as much as possible as we try to find the positives, but here there really aren’t many apart from decent interior design. Unfortunately we had an unenjoyable experience staying our first night at The Collective. We understand that this is a shared living environment offered at an affordable price, however when booking our short stay we expected more than received as on arrival our room had been left in an unclean state, with unclean walls, very very unhygienic plates and cutlery, as well as distasteful looking marks on the bedsheets.

Considering there is a global pandemic we had really hoped our room and cutlery would be cleaned properly, as it was not, this increased the anxiety of our stay.

Our room was very warm with no air conditioning meaning we had to sleep with the window wide open, distrusted by the train line noises late at night and early in the morning. We wrote to the hotel via the email asking if anything could be done but was met with no reply. We are still waiting on a response! We still had our second night to come and hoped to stay somewhere else given the conditions we faced the night before however having no response to our enquiry to leave the second night we were not in the financial position to leave to stay elsewhere.

Furthermore, there was little to do in the area and the hotel facilities including the pool and spa were still not open it cost 2 of us £22 pound on underground to get anywhere of interest.

Wished we booked Novotel near by!

Nice but not recommended

It’s a nice place to stay but I wouldn’t recommend. It’s small and fits your needs like being in a caravan, but we had a couple issues. First being we put up the cleaning sign every morning and it never got cleaned, the second being if you have allergies don’t bother. When I made the booking we got breakfast included, I told them one of us was coeliac and they said that’s fine, I called a week before we went to remind them and then upon Check in told them again to which they responded ‘oh I’m not sure, we can’t guarantee it’. When breakfast came it was not coeliac acceptable. We took it to the restaurant where they didn’t get told and they swapped it out for some gf toast. The next morning was gluten free cake and a yogurt and the next day was great gf toast with toppings, yogurt and fruit. The facilities are lovely with a great top floor pool with fantastic views and the restaurant was absolutely beautiful. But for what you’re paying and what you get it’s not worth it.

Save yourselves the emotional harassment

My far the worst mistake of my life. Do not believe anything they promise. You will be treated like a criminal serving time. The staff both on site and the head office have an ego bigger then the job they do. When you confront them about their fake promises you will be evicted. It’s been nothing but an emotional and financial abuse.

Poor communication, bad management

Ok I wasn't going to write a review but there are small things that are driving me mad. I'm staying here for a couple of months. 1) It took me over a week to just sign the contract and get access to the app for booking communal spaces. I had to go to the reception 5 times. To ask. For my. CONTRACT. No one could find it and the teams don't communicate with each other apparently. 2) Again, it took me a few visits to the reception to fix our window and blinds. 3) There is an annoying sound in the room (very high, almost like ultrasound) coming from the electrical equipment box above the door. After a few complaints, an engineer came to me and said that it can't be fixed because it's just poor quality equipment, how do you like that?? The maintenance team eventually put 2 layers of soundproofing material inside that box (which is technically against all rules because there's holes for a reason – it needs to be ventilated or it could burn up. 4) It's 9pm right now but I still need to finish some work. I went to the 'communal spaces', so heavily promoted online. It felt very stuffy, the AC wasn't working. I went downstairs and they told me that only the maintenance team can turn on the AC because they have some sort of security code. WHAT? Your 'communal spaces' have no windows and no ventilation, and your AC turns off and only the freaking maintenance team can turn it back on – so when the maintenance team goes home, the communal spaces are unusable??? Very poor quality, teams are inefficient, nothing happens here until you go to the reception 5 times and waste hours of your life.

Don’t be fooled by the ‘amenities’

I love the rooms and the community, but seriously, don’t be fooled by the ‘amenities’ which are always faulty.

Forget about cinema room - it just doesn’t work most of the time, and they will do their best not to help you so your time is up even before you can use it. Gym has a lot of missing weights. Can you really work out without proper equipment? This was raised multiple times but were never really solved. Sauna and jacuzzi are often out of order/not available/cold to even serve its purpose.

Lastly, a lot of inconsistencies about the price is just outrageous. Never believe the first price they offer to you, and even if you accept it, there’s always someone who gets a lower one.

Great and helpful reception people though, plus amazing events arranged professionally, hence the one star.

The social aspect is great but the…

The social aspect is great but the prices are just ridiculous!

The events are nice and it is very easy to make friends however the prices are too high for what you get.

With similar (if not lower) prices you can find studios in other places that are double the size and with the same amenities (swimming pool, gym, cinema).
