It was so easy to book an appointment with Shuna to discuss hair thinning and hair loss. Shuna instantly put me at ease with her sunny and smiling approach. She wanted to know my concerns and understand my lifestyle, genetic background, my hair routine and diet before examining my scalp and hair. Shuna then explained what has been happening to my hair with suggested blood test and treatment. Would strongly recommend that you contact Shuna if you have any concerns about your hair or scalp.

I am so grateful for Shuna's expertise. Her advice about managing stress and changing my diet has provided me with relief for my scalp for the first time in years. The samples and products Shuna gave me to try also made a huge difference. I visited Shuna because I was losing hair and my doctor would not help. Shuna was wonderful - sympathetic and understanding. More importantly she gave me hair drops after testing my blood and monitored my treatment with regular follow ups. I now have not just more hair, but it is shiny and in great condition too. I have noticed my hair falling out about 2-3 years ago. It started when I got a new, more demanding job and then it increased when the pandemic (and home schooling) started. I put it all down to stress and thought it would sort itself out. I started taking supplements for hair but it made no difference. I seriously panicked when I started to see my scalp through my hair. I was referred to a dermatologist in November last year who diagnosed me with female baldness after looking at my hair for literally 30 seconds and said it must be in my family (all women in my family have a lot of hair regardless of age). He told me to start using minoxidil and to go on antidepressants to reduce stress which would not stop the hair loss but could help to slow it down. And that was it. I felt absolutely devastated and could not stop crying. I went online and searched for hair loss specialists; I truly did not know trichology's existed until then. I chose Shuna Hammocks (Sussex Trichology) based on her picture, she just looked so professional but also very kind. I thought that if it was going to be bad news, I could hear it from her. I was able to get an appointment with her very quickly. Shuna spent a long time with me discussing my diet, my family history, my mental health, she was so understanding and supportive. She diagnosed me with telogen effluvium and said that it was a temporary hair loss. After requesting some blood tests and getting the results she was able to identify what could be causing my hair loss. She contacted me promptly and suggested some changes in my diet, taking additional supplements and trying some different techniques to reduce my stress levels (I suffer from an anxiety disorder) and said my hair should start growing back though I may not have as much as I used to. I felt so relieved and so happy after seeing her; she has a lovely personality and can make anyone feel at ease very quickly. I have regular check ups with her, and I email her with updates and questions occasionally, and she always responds very quickly, and gives a lot of advice. I still need to work on my anxiety levels but I have followed Shuna's advice and my hair started growing back. I am aware that it will be a long process and that I will probably not have the same hair volume as I used to, but my hair is growing and I know I am in good hands. I could not recommend Shuna enough. Please do not go to dermatologists if you are concerned about your hair, please book your consultation with Shuna, you will not regret it; I do not know where I would be now without her. Karolina

I came out of my first appointment with Shuna feeling so much more positive and hopeful about my hair condition. Mother and Daughter visit

I visited Shuna along with my daughter the first week in January. My daughter has had a long standing scalp condition which Shuna has been treating successfully.
However I had concerns regarding my own hair and have now a diagnosis which although is detiriorating can be managed with the right help. I feel that both my daughter and myself are in very capable hands and thank God for Shuna.

I first went to see Shuna around a year ago as I was conscious about my hair thinning. Being a man it is difficult topic to talk about. Going to see Shuna was the best decision as it was in fact true that my hair was thinning and I learnt that the condition I have is very common amongst adults both men and women.

Since seeing Shuna she has come up with an easy and manageable treatment plan which has not only stalled my hair thinning, I have had a huge amount of re-growth too!

Shuna is very friendly and very understanding. Would highly recommend to anyone with hair troubles or worries!

I contacted Shuna for 2 reasons; an allergic reaction to a drug that caused a nasty flare up of psoriasis that had been under control for many years, but also because for 2 years I'd been very concerned about changes in my hair and hairdressers always dismissed them as 'nothing to worry about because it was just age related'.

I'd used a Trichologist some 15 years ago after a previous drug allergy which was far worse than 2nd time around so I knew the way forward was to see a Trichologist because NHS dermatology don't know how to effectively treat scalp psoriasis as its not the same as skin. Plus there was the hair thinning that was getting worse which I didn't think was purely down to multiple autoimmune diseases and medications.

Shuna was brilliant! With the 2 products and the instructions she prescribed my scalp psoriasis started to feel better from the first few treatments after several weeks of what could only be described as suicidal itching as I have psorebic arthritis that had also triggered skin. Oddly because I shower I found the hair products on my skin also helped massively.

As for the thinning hair, I hadn't been imagining it, Shuna diagnosed Female Pattern Thinning. Once the psoriasis had cleared up, Shuna prescribed some scalp drops to try and halt the hair loss. My hair scalp has responded well and grown new hair albeit slower in one particular area than I'd like. But there is new hair coming through which is the important part.

It's reassuring to know that I have the products in the cupboard ready to tackle any immediate flare ups, the drops for treating the hair loss, but also Shuna is just a phone call or email away for ordering more products or for a check up.

Shuna was absolutely excellent when I got in touch about my alopecia spot on my head, which I've had for years. At 25 years of age, I've never been to speak to anyone about it as I was very embarrassed and wasn't sure if anything could be done, but I'm so pleased I spoke to Shuna. She was very reassuring and completely understood my anxieties around it. Shuna helped me get some blood work done so that we could investigate it further and I'm hoping we'll see some results soon. Shuna is very knowledgeable and understanding about hair loss. Before having paid her a visit I was very worried and uneducated about my situation but I am now on a long term plan with a suggested diet which is no extra effort at all.

I would say if you have any worries at all then get in touch we Shuna because whilst your hair may not improve immediately, the education and mental stability that you gain without even noticing is equally as important when dealing with this issue.

I suffered for 6 years with an itchy scalp with nothing externally visible...I had been to the doctors,dermatologist countless times over this 6 year period ....the itching drove me crazy to the point at which I was using a wire brush for relief...I needed answers .
