We booked a car through Surprice cars but found that the contract was with Autoone when we were eventually taken to the Autoone branded offices in Venice - Surprice cars was in very small letters on the sign outside.
The car was very new and we had a good 5 days. On return my husband and I had both checked over the car but left it for a few minutes when the Autoone woman checked it over. She then said she had found damage being a scratch under the petrol cap over two panels and a wierd mark on the bonnet. The cost was almost £1000 which we had to pay for them to give us the relevant paperwork to make a claim. They became very aggressive saying that if we didn't sign and pay they would take the money anyway from the deposit. Afterwards we both thought they must have made the marks as there had been no sign of them minutes earlier. We were there for an hour trying to sort this out as luckily weren't catching a flight. We are now very wary of car hire firms as we never want to experience anything like this again. Avoid.

Be careful, do not rent a car from them!
It appears that the company AUTOONE (Surprice) in Bologna is part of an organized criminal group in Italy that fraudulently charges tourists’ credit cards. There are numerous negative reviews online from customers who have been scammed. It seems they intentionally rebranded themselves as "Surprice" in order to continue deceiving new customers. It’s very likely they will change their name again next season.
It's very possible that they are repeatedly charging different customers for the same damage. Many people online are saying that Surprice AUTOONE has perfected the art of fraudulently charging customers for fictitious damages, especially to windshields. Perhaps only a professional auto body technician could avoid being scammed.
How the brokers handled this situation is highly disappointing. Instead of protecting customers and removing such dishonest companies from your platform, they continue to refer more people to them. Serious negative reviews about Surprice started appearing as early as the first quarter of this year, which should have raised red flags. Be careful—before renting a car, check reviews online.

In the end it wasn't Surprice, it was Auto Europe terrible company. don't use. not in the airport (Naples) . had to walk ages to find them and then queue up for an eternity. seemed like a good deal at first and then.......had to pay a huge insurance premium (the same as it cost to insure my car at home for a year) one reason given was, tyres always get damaged in Naples (looked on the policy, tyres not covered). Got a speeding ticket :-( I didn't have to pay it but Auto One got another €65 out of my bank account). The only good thing about this company was the ride back to the terminal after dropping the car off. better than a roller coaster ride.

Ti derubano. Quando restituisci l'auto, controllano il minimo danno (1 cm) e ti addebitano la carta. È successo a me; non c'era modo che non mi addebitassero 250 euro.
Nello stesso periodo, a un uomo anziano è stata fatta una fattura con un danno molto alto; quando si è lamentato perché non esisteva (l'ho visto), due agenti lo hanno trattato con violenza.

Avoid. This company are crooks. Rented a 10 year old Clio already covered in scratches, most of which, but not all were noted when the car was collected. Upon return they highlighted a scratch that was there when I rented it but which they hadn't recorded. They then charged 850 euros before I could leave. Car had a faulty light switch which caused the battery to go flat. They are basically crooks. I will get my revenge.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS
In 30+ years of hiring cars in various parts of the world, this was without doubt the worst car hire experience ever.
Told us that pick up was from the terminal, WRONG, it’s a shuttle bus, get to pick the car up and are told it’s either basic insurance with a €1600 excess or to reduce the excess to zero it was €840! Im fully aware that hire companies charge a fee to reduce excess but €840 is ridiculous.
On to the car, 160,000km absolute wreck, scratched on every panel, interior trim peeling off, felt like it was about to give up any second. In all honesty the car was probably worth less than the excess payment. Upon return they even had the cheek to complain about some sand in the footwell.
My advice would be to hire from anyone but these con artists.

Some clear profiteering whilst there was a train strike in Italy.
I was forced to take out a fresh policy when there was a slight difference between my credit card and driving license , both clearly in my name.
The cheap rentals for 3 days turned into a £300 mammoth expense.
On returning vehicle the lady was pretty useless , and. To helpful. Due to the issues on arrival they gave me free fuel clearly documented in agreement file,to empty, she tried charging me for fuel. We had to walk away as her English was poor.

Cliente da anni di questa agenzia, stavolta mi è stata da loro rifiutata la carta di credito per il deposito a cauzione di 900€ perché non riportava i numeri a rilievo.
Non accettando loro contanti, sono stato costretto a sottoscrivere un assicurazione per i danni in eccesso della copertura standard. L’assicurazione x soli sei giorni è costata tre volte il valore del noleggio.
Stranamente la carta di credito è stata poi accettata x pagare sia il noleggio che l’assicurazione e la cauzione standard di 200€.
Consiglio di evitare chi usa questi mezzi meschini x estorcere soldi

Arrivata alle 9.30 in aeroporto, alle 10.40 dopo infiniti tentativi mi hanno mandato un videomessaggio per raggiungere il punto dal quale una navetta fa trasferimento per raggiungere il sito da cui si ritirano le auto. Sono riuscita ad avere le chiavi di una sporchissima panda con le luci diurne guaste alle 13. Questo è tutto il contrario del low cost…

Really wish I had read the reviews before using these scam artists.

Having read others comments they are all true. They will extract triple what you initially paid with ridiculous excuses like the credit card numbers having to be raised rather than flat on the credit card.

Eventually these thieves will go out of business as people become aware of their unscrupulous practices. AVOID.

Il nostro volo è arrivato con una ora e mezza di ritardo (ore 23:10 invece che 21:45) all'aeroporto di Pisa e questi di Surprice, nonostante le chiamate telefoniche senza risposta per una ora e una e-mail per avvertire del ritardo hanno pensato bene di annullare il booking fatto costringendoci a pagare un altra auto !! ...dovreste andare a lavorare nei campi invece di derubare le persone!!

Thieving and lying company, please do not use them ever as they are SCAMMERS. They wouldn’t take my card and insisted that the money I paid has nothing to do with rh, even though I proved it. They stated that I had to pay again for the excess insurance of £250+. The girl at the desk was diagusting and rude and unprofessional, clearly only has one time and that was pay more. There were two other men suffering the same fate. I eventually went to another desk and for a car and wa told that Auto One and Surpricw so that scam daily. I am so annoyed. Just warning you all. So not book any area via Auto One or Surpricw!!!

I am posting this to warn other travelers about my recent experience with Surprice Car Rental / Auto One S.r.l., Florence Airport.

Summary of What Happened
• I rented a car for 6 days, took detailed videos/photos at pick-up and return.
• Returned the car undamaged with a full tank — confirmed on-site by staff, and I signed a “no damage” form.
• Four days later, my €1,200 security deposit was charged to my credit card without any explanation or proof.
• Weeks later, I was told verbally there was “windshield damage” — but no credible evidence was provided.
• After issuing a claim to the Customer care department, the company sent me a check-in form- not the part I signed with my falsified/forged signature timestamped AFTER I had already left the location.
• Photo evidence they provided cannot be linked to the car I rented.
Why This Matters
• I have video and photographic proof that the car was undamaged upon return.
• I later discovered many similar complaints online about this same branch — with identical tactics: false damage claims, deposit withholding, and fabricated documents.
My Advice to Others
• Avoid this branch of Surprice / Auto One in Florence.
• If you rent from any company in Italy, document everything (photos, videos, timestamps).
• Research reviews before booking — patterns like this are a red flag.
I have filed formal complaints with:
• Italian Police (Polizia di Stato – Questura di Firenze)
• Italian Competition Authority (AGCM)
• European Consumer Centre Italy (ECC-Net)
I believe these actions are part of a rental car return scam, and I urge other travelers to be extremely cautious.

Et encore, si nous avions pu ne mettre aucune croix...
Nous conseillons à quiconque de ne surtout pas réserver un véhicule auprès de SurPrice Car Rentals qui est une véritable arnaque
Nous avions réservé à ce loueur via le site StressFreeCarRental un véhicule à l'aéroport de Naples en Italie du 10 au 21/08. Passons la galère pour trouver le parking des loueurs low coast (différent des loueurs institutionnels) dont le lieu n'était pas précisé dans le mail de réservation.
Malgré notre réservation, aucun véhicule n'était disponible à notre arrivée !
L'employé très désagréable a commencé par nous faire un véritable chantage intolérable en nous proposant un autre véhicule uniquement si nous acceptions de payer en plus 400€ de couverture de franchise, soit plus du double du prix initial de notre location (320€). Après avoir évidemment refusé il nous a dit qu'un véhicule serait peut être disponible dans quelques heures en fonction des retours de location mais que ce n'était pas certain. La raison était soit disant que nous étions en surbooking car nous n'avions pas payé la location en totalité à l'avance mais seulement 3€ de réservation ! Après 3 heures d'attente nous avons manifesté notre colère et notre ras le bol en exigeant qu'un véhicule nous soit fournit conformément à la réservation. L'employé nous a alors proposé un véhicule qui venait d'être rendu par un autre client mais d'une catégorie inférieure à celle que nous avions réservé (plus petit et avec une boite manuelle au lieu d'une automatique). Le véhicule n'était évidemment pas nettoyé à l'intérieur comme à l'extérieur et la carrosserie abîmée. N'ayant plus confiance dans ce loueur et ne voulant pas cautionner ses pratiques, nous avons refusé et avons été contraint de nous retourner vers un loueur renommé, ce qui nous a coûté 671€ au lieu de 320€ et notre après-midi (retour à l'aéroport puis au parking des loueurs institutionnels...) Ajoutez à cela le stress lié au fait que nous n'étions pas sûr de pouvoir louer un autre véhicule en plein mois d'août alors que nous devions partir pour 10 jours de voyage dans les Pouilles. Enfin je précise pour appuyer notre récit que la plupart des clients qui se sont présentés durant nos 3 heures d'attente, ont eu des surprises et rencontré des problèmes divers avec le loueur.
Conclusion, mieux vaut payer un peu plus cher auprès d'un loueur ayant bonne réputation et être assuré de récupérer un véhicule conforme à la réservation à l'heure prévue

No pick up from airport – We waited in the heat, walked 10 minutes with luggage. Agent said “you should have taken taxi.” Their shuttle does not stop at the airport. On return they dropped us in the middle of the road, told us to walk like animals! LIKE ANIMALS!

Credit card scam – When we arrived, they refused to accept our credit card, claiming it must be “embossed” with full name (no initials). We have used this same card worldwide for rentals, including in Rome and Bari, without any issue. Here, however, the agent was already prepared – he had the terms printed, with the line highlighted, as if reading from a script. It was clear this was not an accident but a regular trick. The result: every customer in line was told the same thing and forced to pay an extra €300. THIS IS NOT A POLICY, IT IS A SCAM DESIGNED TO TAKE MORE MONEY FROM YOU.

Dangerous car – flat tire – First car given had a flat tire. Luckily we spotted it immediately. If you drive off, they will charge you €600! ANOTHER TRAP.

Second car – terrible condition – Covered in scratches, passenger door did not open from outside, filthy inside with old tissues. Clearly they do not care about safety or cleanliness. DISGUSTING AND UNSAFE.

Time scam – They wrote return time 11am, even though we paid until 19:00. If we didn’t check, they would have charged late fees. ALWAYS DOUBLE-CHECK THEIR DOCUMENTS!

Fuel scam – They claimed tank was full, but it was not. Tried to charge us €25 extra. When we refused, agent became aggressive, shouting and calling me insulting names (“cazzo”). TOTAL FRAUD AND ABUSE.

Drop off – same mistreatment – Shuttle again dumped us in the road, not at airport. TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL.

BEWARE! Awful customer service however, that is the least of it once they attempted to refuse a UK driving license and UK credit card. Taking a holding deposit twice even though it was not supposed to be processed in the first place. Ended up signing additional contracts even though we had a contract with DoYouItaly. SURPRICE contracted in some way to the 3rd company Autoone was not on any paperwork we only found out who they were once SURPRICE collected us from the airport. Attempted to charge us for additional Insurance cover which we declined. Ruined our holiday with the stress caused. Others in the cabin at the time were experiencing similar service, some of which were families with children. Tried to charge for existing damage upon return, luckily we had video evidence to prove otherwise. Shocking behavior. Stay away from them and anyone connected to them. Reported this is not the end of it for us we will take this legal if required.
