Mixed results by same company, I would avoid in future
We booked an asbestos survey before purchasing. As the house was vacant they picked up the keys from estate agents and conducted the survey. The report came negative for the "samples" they took. After purchasing the house, a builder requested I test the artex again as we could not see any sample markings visible on the ceiling of the 2 rooms they claim were tested. Upon re-sampling with a different company the same rooms were tested positive! So question I am asking is were those initial samples even taken for them not to pick up asbestos in either rooms or the fact that we could not see any visible signs of sample taken?? Well Supernova were contacted regarding this and they offeres re-inspection and new samples to be taken, surprise surprise they tested positive for asbestos after my electrician has drilled into the artex which the report by Supernova stated was not asbestos. I would avoid using such companies in future and do the sampling myself. You can not tell me 2 rooms which had asbestos artex were tested negative and then re-test was positive, you are supposed to take samples from different areas of the room, go and train your surveyors how to take samples properly.

The survey originally commissioned was an Asbestos Management Survey, which is commonly undertaken during the property purchasing process to identify accessible asbestos-containing materials and assess their condition.
As clearly stated within the survey report itself, a Management Survey is not suitable for refurbishment or renovation works. Where building materials are to be disturbed, an appropriate Refurbishment and Demolition Survey is required before those works commence.
Regarding the differing laboratory results, textured coatings such as Artex are non-homogeneous materials, meaning asbestos fibres can be unevenly distributed. As a result, samples collected from different locations within the same ceiling can return different results.
Nevertheless, we fully appreciate your concerns and take discrepancies in asbestos sampling results extremely seriously.
Upon receiving your complaint, we arranged for a further inspection and additional sampling entirely free of charge, with updated findings subsequently provided.
We are also reviewing the original sampling circumstances as part of our internal quality assurance procedures. We have also asked the lab to re-test the original results.
Customer safety remains our priority, and we are committed to investigating concerns thoroughly and taking appropriate action where required.
We regret the concerns this situation has caused and appreciate the opportunity to respond.

This proces of the survey was quit thurough and im pleased with this part.Second part i ask nova for a quote on removinf all materials found to have asbestos,they had the necessary info for a accurate quote.A quote was sent and i was gobsmacked at the cost,i imediately questioned this quote,and was told an error in addresses had taken place,A new quote was pesented several thousand pounds less ! My thoughts trying it on !! maybe maybe not.This work is not crazy expensive as people would make out to be. Be dilegent be cautious ,reviews are left by many people,stupid and naieve people who dont recognize a good job from a bad.Just get many quotes and dont dismiss the cheepish ones,They might just be the ones that are quenuine.

We would, however, like to address your concerns regarding the subsequent asbestos removal quotation.
As you correctly highlighted, an administrative error involving the property address was identified within the initial quotation. Once this was brought to our attention, the error was acknowledged and a revised quotation was promptly provided.
We would like to reassure you that there was absolutely no intention to overcharge or mislead you. The original quotation was issued in error, and we apologise for the confusion and concern this understandably caused.
Asbestos removal costs can vary considerably depending on the type and quantity of asbestos-containing materials, accessibility, required control measures and the complexity of the works. We always aim to provide accurate, transparent and competitive quotations based on the specific requirements of each project.
We fully support customers obtaining multiple quotations and making informed decisions when appointing contractors. We are always given feedback that we are very competitive across all divisions.
Whilst we appreciate your disappointment regarding the initial pricing error, we are pleased that you were satisfied with the quality of our surveying service.

I had a fire door installed in my very…
I had a fire door installed in my very newly purchased property. I was there to hand over keys and expressed this was the only set I had and that I couldn't be there during what was meant to be a 2 day install, keys were meant to be left in lock box but only new keys were left not the key for the shared front door. The new door is also scratched, marked and there's debris left in mine and shared spaces.

Have all in writing when using Superniva service
I was drawn to use Supernova Asbestos Group because of the very positive feedback and reviews I had seen. Unfortunately, my own experience has not been the greatest.
We decided to proceed with the asbestos survey because the property we are buying has polystyrene ceilings, and we were concerned about the possibility of asbestos-containing adhesive being used. Before the survey, I specifically discussed with the surveyor that a sample from the ceiling would be taken and tested as part of the survey. However, this sample was not taken during the initial visit.
I tried contacting the surveyor afterwards to discuss what had happened, but unfortunately I did not receive a response. I then contacted customer service, explained the situation, and was told that taking the sample was considered quite invasive and therefore had not been done. However, they offered to arrange for the surveyor to return and take the sample if we obtained the necessary consent.
We obtained the consent and arranged for the sample testing and a further visit to the property on a specific date. A week later, I received an email saying that the survey was actually due to take place the following day, which understandably caused some confusion.
I contacted the estate agent, who was not aware of the arrangements and was also unaware that the surveyor had apparently not attended the property on the previous occasion. The surveyor had been provided with the key code because the property is empty, and the estate agent was understandably unhappy that another visit had been arranged without their knowledge.
To be fair, the sample was eventually taken, which was the outcome we needed. However, the overall experience was made unnecessarily difficult by the communication and apparent lack of coordination between the company, the surveyor and the estate agent.
My main advice to anyone using the service would therefore be: make sure you have everything agreed and confirmed in writing. Don't rely solely on telephone conversations when discussing exactly what is included in your survey or arranging additional work. Ask questions, get confirmation of what will be done, and make sure any appointments and changes are clearly documented.
The issue was eventually resolved, but the communication throughout the process did not give us the impression of the level of service we had expected based on the positive reviews that initially attracted us to the company.

We would, however, like to clarify a couple of points.
An Asbestos Management Survey is a non-intrusive inspection, and sampling that requires disturbance to existing finishes may require additional permissions before it can be undertaken. Once the necessary consent was obtained, we arranged for the surveyor to return and complete the requested sampling.
We would also like to clarify that the estate agent was informed of the return appointment, as we recognise the importance of coordinating access arrangements, particularly during a property purchase.
Whilst we appreciate that there may have been some confusion surrounding the appointment dates, we feel it is important to distinguish this from a failure to communicate with the estate agent.
We're pleased that the additional sampling was completed and that you received the outcome you required.
We take customer feedback seriously and will continue reviewing how survey scopes, sampling requirements and appointment arrangements are communicated to ensure expectations are clear from the outset.
