I hired Story Reel Studios to create a trailer for my new novel, Valley High, Mountain Low, and I’m absolutely thrilled with the final result. I’m a filmmaker myself, so I had a very specific vision for the story, characters, tone, and pacing, and I’ll admit I’m pretty particular! 😄

We went through several rounds of revisions, and the team was responsive, patient, and willing to keep working with me until we got it right. They listened carefully to my feedback, made substantial changes, and even went the extra mile on the final round.

The finished trailer is beautiful, emotional, cinematic, and genuinely captures the heart of my book. I’m proud to share it, which is ultimately the best thing I can say about any creative collaboration.

The final product meets and exceeds my expectations.

I paid for (apparently) just a shorts video, which is fine. However the Facebook ad I found made no mention at all about 30 second short, and ONLY talked about the longer trailer and including 3 revisions. After I paid, I filled out the questionnaire. The questionnaire specifically asked me to provide a script for BOTH the 30 second and the long form video, which I did. Part of the questionnaire asked me to describe the voiceover I wanted. I provided specific emotional language and direction that I asked for.

When I received the initial video, the work itself was pretty good quality. The voiceover was atrocious; literally sounding like an emotionless robot speaking. When I asked about fixing it, Irvin instructed me that I was not entitled to any revisions and that if I needed the voiceover fixed, I had to pay an ADDITIONAL $197 because it was "special request" or something.

Let's keep in mind that I only paid $99 initially, so now he wants me to pay TWICE as much to fix a problem that they flat out ignored, and now are calling it "special"?

Why would it take $197 to "fix" a problem that the original video only cost $99? I even explained how that didn't even make any sense since I could just request another whole video be made for $99 and STILL be under the cost to fix THEIR problem.

Then, Irvin offered to just refund it for me. I replied that I did not WANT a refund and that I would just take the video as it was and fix it myself.

Irvin, instead, decided just to refund it anyway.

Totally unprofessional. Would not recommend this company to anyone.

I was skeptical initially that my book was suitable for a trailer, but StoryReel Studios did a remarkable job in creating a cinematic and professional trailer for my novel, The Last Summer of Everything. I couldn't be more impressed with the finished project. The professionalism and dedication to customer service was also outstanding throughout the entire process. I will definitely be using StoryReel Studios again in the future.
