I cancelled my order due to lack of progress and dates for delivery. They still have my money over one month later. AVOID

I’d give less than one star if possible

I ordered A393 rebar mesh for a heavy duty garage floor being installed.
It never came. I chased and chased and either got no reply or broken promises. Had to put the project back twice due to failed delivery. After 30 days I threatened to cancel the order if not delivered that week. They cancelled the order anyway and said they’d refund me the same day (over £500). Refund never given. Three weeks on and I’m still chasing following more broken promises to get it refunded. I have had to raise a formal dispute with credit card provider. Thank goodness I paid on credit.
I wouldn’t touch this company with a steel barge pole. After more searching I got the product elsewhere within 5 days and saved over £100! I only went with these originally because of the promised speed of delivery. What a joke.

I ordered steel for one of our projects in March 2025 from STEEL WORLD UK LTD. The supplier was supposed to deliver the steel within a week, or at least within a reasonable timeframe, and install it as the project progressed. However, five weeks after the invoice payment date, they had delivered only around 50% of the order, and some of the steel supplied did not match the structural engineer’s drawings.
Due to these delays and issues, I cancelled the remaining part of the order and requested a refund for the undelivered steel. I gave them seven days to calculate the cost of the materials supplied and the installation work completed to date, and to repay the outstanding balance owed to us.
Unfortunately, they appeared unwilling to resolve the matter reasonably and showed no intention of settling the dispute.
As a result, we took the matter to court. The hearing took place in April 2026. They failed to attend the hearing, and after reviewing the documents and evidence, the court ruled in our favour. We received the judgment a few weeks ago, but they have refused to comply with the court order. We are now in the process of instructing bailiffs to attend their office to recover the money owed to us.

Based on my experience,
I would strongly advise others to stay away from STEEL WORLD UK LTD.

Made an order two months ago and the delivery never arrived. Chased my delivery and there was just excuse after excuse. Then requested a full refund after being messed around for over a month and now Im being messed around for the refund. NO reply to emails or answering the phone. The few calls I've had answered I've just been lied to again. This company is a bunch of con artist stay far away if you don't want your money stollen they owe me over £1700 and I've been forced to go through the legal avenue to get my money back.

Ordered 55 sheets of mesh the week before we needed was told delivery date , day of delivery was told be dropped on site between 1 and 3 pm, didnt turn up. Sent lads to site the friday no steel arrived and wouldn't anwser thr phone to tell us where steel was .
Had to send our iwn lorry to buy steel again from another stockist.
No answer by phone or email shocking service

Ordered rebar and mesh on 2 separate occasions both arrived as ordered and at the time agreed - would definitely use again!

Bought some mesh. Got Some advice from them which actually saved me money. Sale was quick. Delivered on time.

Quality and price of the products were great. There was a delay in the delivery (some of it was clearly due to adverse weather conditions) but there customer service really did everything they could possibly do to get us an emergency order. Thank you to Ari for working with me.

Helpful to make sure my order was delivered on time. Actually they really did beat a quote i had for 85 sheets of a393 regular mesh sheets. recommended. will use again if have another project!

I ordered the rebars for delivery on Thursday gone. Has not delivered yet and not replying to any phone calls or emails. As a result my basement work has come to a halt. I had to cancel the concrete lorry and pump, and labours. The worst company I have ever dealt with. I have asked them to cancel the order and if they don’t refund I will have to raise this with my bank as a fraudulent company

Ordered steel (£2700) 4th August and it took 3 weeks for 25% of the order to arrive. This was in accurate and they made it difficult to change out the issues. Waited 5 weeks and still 75% missing. Ended up asking for my money back. They took all the delivery fee from me before refunding. Don't touch with a barge pole. Can't organise a p!ss up in a brewery.

Steelworld UK advertise as the UK's largest supplier of reinforcement/structural steel who can deliver within days. Don't be fooled by the nice sales pitch. My order took 2 weeks to be delivered and even then it was incomplete. Reported the missing steel straight away but nearly 2 months later this issue has still not been resolved. After sales service is very poor. Contact with them by email, phone, etc has been very difficult as they rarely respond and when they do they just give an excuse and make no effort to actively resolve the problem. They say you can judge a company by how they handle things when they go wrong.....hence the one star rating. Avoid.
