Just to remind people considering getting insurance with this despicable company, please reconsider. They do not back up their customers in anyway,a full explanation of the bump that happened to my self whilst my elderly mother of80 + was in the vehicle was totally dismissed as being my fault ,which now pushes up my insurance from 800£ to a staggering 3,450 £.
They feel this si great customer care. Please listen to this review because I personally feel this company is a complete fraud who wish to ignore and get out of paying out ,also causes you the insureee an awful lot of grief getting further cover from other companies.
Please heed my advice have nothing to do with them .
Admiral. Com seem to be a much better reasonable company .Just hope they have nothing to do with sommerset bridge the fraud company.

By the way this stupid company won't let me sub mit the real date of the incident which was in 2024 November, that's how corrupt they are so ignore the date I have stated

Somerset Bridge has officially refused to refund my money for 11 months, citing a Total Loss clause, even though the accident was 100% the other driver's fault. Instead of helping their client recover this money from the at-fault driver's insurer, they prefer to hide behind their terms and conditions and keep my money for a service they don't provide. I warn everyone – zero help for injured parties. The case is being referred to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS).

Was knocked off my motorcycle by a driver not performing mirror checks and doing an illegal u turn across the road. These clowns refused to investigate, claiming they could not get ahold of my witnesses. I do not believe they even attempted to do so, and when I asked for times and dates of calls to the witnesses they ignored my email and ghosted me, despite me being entitled to have them under the FOI act. They found me at fault for the accident despite it not being logically possible, and insinuated I was speeding whilst filtering on my beloved motorcycle. They illegally withheld a refund which they themselves told me I was entitled to, at one point emailing me that I was not due a refund whilst i was LITERALLY on the phone to an advisor who told me I was at the same time.

I reported these cowboys to the financial ombudsman and they investigated themselves and found no problem,
Surprise surprise. I then reported them to trading standards and they never responded after that.

I will happily amend this review when I am refunded my premium of £1408 for services which I have paid for but have not received. Until then, I urge anyone to stay well away from these idiots and from GoSkippy

Says you will get full refund if it’s cancelled within cooling period and yet they charge me £35 for it

I am extremely disappointed with the way Somerset Bridge Insurance has handled my case. I wish I had checked the reviews beforehand, as many customers seem to have had similar negative experiences.

I sincerely hope the government and the relevant regulatory authorities take notice of how customers are being treated. The way this matter has been managed has caused me significant financial and emotional distress.

On Saturday the 18th October 2025 I attempted to purchase car insurance to cover my renewal from the 28th October 2025 from GoSkippy (a subsidiary of Somerset Bridge Insurance Group of Lysander House, Catbrain Lane, Cribbs Causeway, Bristol, BS10 7TQ. The quote of £343.94 was from a comparison site. GoSkippy’s website had a fault and I was unable to connect. I telephoned the directly and everything was complete including payment from my credit card. After being put on hold three times I was eventually informed that I had no driving licence, despite having given them the number and having it in my hand confirm the number and dates. I have held a licence since 1967, (including HGV, PSV, motorcycle and advanced, with the IAM.) The insurance was duly cancelled and I received a refund 2 days later.

I then went to the next best quote which was £268.94 from Vavista, which I unfortunately later found out was also a subsidiary of Somerset Bridge Insurance Group. On receiving the certificate, I found I was not covered to drive any other vehicle with third party cover, (this was not apparent on the web quote). On telephoning Vavista to add this I was informed that they had no policies AT ALL which gave this type of cover. I’ve never in my life heard anything like this so I cancelled the insurance. I was then informed that there would be a £25 cancellation fee (even though the insurance would not become “live” until the 28th. I believe that I should have 14 days “cooling off” period but I was informed that that was not available from Somerset House Insurance as per their contract which at no time was I made aware of at the time of purchase, even though the law states I have as cooling off period.

Sell you insurance then when signed, they ask for documents, when they get them, they say policy needs changed and then charge you £50 admin fee, and £550 to keep your car insured otherwise you need to cancel, if you cancel you get charged £35 plus a months fee plus a finance charge plus plus plus. You are better paying the extra £200 and going with a reputable insurer
