I've checked my bank and no fraud, but I'm lucky. Everything other reviewers have advised is accurate. The website actually looks proper legit. Cancel your bank card and change passwords associated to the email address you entered.

The order, requires you to enter your bank details and you receive an order confirmation. You then hear absolutely nothing.... If you entered a password, change all other web based accounts which uses your email address and that password

I hope these people get busted

Unfortunately my story is the same as everyone elses but they helped themselves to all the cash in my bank and i should have read these reviews first.. i bought two childrens books from this site i wanted to pay through paypal which I didnt get a option for, so i stupidly entered my bank details in. no money was pending or taken then two days later got a email to say it had been declined. I went back on the site which looks legit to order again then thought theres something dodgy here no paypal and a email that looks professional but im not 100% sure! i thought im not trying to buy again id rather pay full price. Because its a week before xmas and no one had written in the reviews money had been taken out their account i was going to finish my shopping then cancel that card but ive woke up today to a empty bank account. Fraud department at my bank is sorting it out. AVOID AVOID AVOID

Same as all the other reviews, I tried twice to order a book and had the same message back from them, it appears to be a scam to get card details. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Ordered a book and checked back as they hadn’t taken the money and then became suspicious of the error page I received when I tried to check the order page .Also if you logout , you can’t log back in without a password reset -which is obviously a clever way of getting you to divulge your favourite password so please don’t do that either -I’ve cancelled my card. This is a clever scam and I’m not easily fooled as I am so careful-but the padlock and McAfee verification we’re convincing -reporting to ActionFraud CAB and watchdog

Same experience as everyone else. Have cancelled my card as a precaution.

Order placed and subsequently cancelled by the 'retailer'. At best these people are incompetent but in truth they are far more likely to be con men. As such I have reported them to the police (for all the good that'll do).

The fact they advertise that they offer free worldwide shipping should ring alarm bells!

Avoid at all costs (and never trust a company without a phone number).

Order cancelled and won't reply to messages - this must be a scam and should be shut down.

As everyone else. Book never arrived, money was not taken but as a precaution I cancelled my card.

So many people have been affected, someone needs to stop them.

The same as everyone else! Except I got no emails at all. No reply to my customer service email and book cancelled. So glad I didn't leave it last minute. Would have one unhappy girl! Gonna have to order a new bank card now!!

absolute scam Do not use They didnt take money but have my card details so had to cancel card yesterday .ps How can we report them ?

In reality I would have given these scammers a zero star! Can't stress enough, do not use Smyths Books! If you value your privacy and bank card details, this site can not be trusted and I find it hard to believe how they have an https web address. Like everyone has mentioned, they will take your card details and confirm the sale and then cancel your order a day or two later and send out some generic cancellation email. They don't respond to your emails and do not have a customer service number. IGNORE THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST!

Ordered a book last week, got an email to say item ordered no money has come.out.of.my bank yet. When I logged into my account it said there where.no orders placed. Emailed them.today 10th Dec 2018 and nothing. I've had to order from.elsewhere now. Not happy

DO NOT USE! Same story as everyone else and same email saying books were damaged! Thought they were part of Smyths toys when I ordered. No telephone number so cant make contact. Use Book People whose service was great or Amazon etc but not these!

I ordered 2 copies of a book , one as a present , ordered on the 1st Dec , no e mail to say dispatched , left 2 messages on the web site , no response its now the 9th and not heard from anyone , no tel number to contact direct , if I dont hear by tomorrow will cancle order and go else where , ps if anyone has money taken from bank account report to your bank card issuer to dispute the transaction , your bank can contact the business bank as they use mastercard and visa they have to adhere to the rules of usage ; (

The name Symths made me believe they were affiliated with the toy superstore. Same story as everyone else. I did receive a strange email today which made me check reviews. I’ve had to cancel my card two weeks before Christmas and I still don’t have the book my son has asked Santa for.

Email read:

Unfortunately our suppliers have contacted us and informed us that upon pre-shipment inspection your has been damaged. Our suppliers have confirmed the earliest delivery of new stock for the . Once received we can dispatch that day on a next day service for .

If you are able to wait until this date I can preserve your current order or cancel it.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding in this matter.

Edit 23/12/18: I received a text from Santander yesterday that they stopped money coming out my other account because they didn’t think it was me (seems I cancelled the wrong card). They cancelled my other bank card and changed my pins as an extra safety measure. Luckily, I’ve had no money taken out my account, but that is only due to my bank being savvy.

Don’t bother ordering your book from this site. The explanation for order being cancelled comes back to you as :

1. Your payment card may have insufficient funds or has been declined

2. Due to fraud prevention restrictions

3. We have been unable to fulfil your order

What it should say is they don’t have your book in stock. Based on other reviews go to another site as this company are a waste of time ordering from.

I have also had fraudulent activity on my bank account late December which I have also reported to Action Fraud to check on the legitimacy of this company.

Same happening to my partner ordered two books took the money then sent email that payment not gone through (it had) then a email two week after saying books were damaged in shipping.How can this be allowed 😡

Ordered 2 books. They then cancelled without notifying me. Now my order not showing under my account.
