Bought a book for £3, payment for the book was not taken but £1500 was taken from my account in fraudulent transactions. Don't go near this 'company'!

Same experience as others.
Book not received. Cancelled card today. Bank can't see any fraudulent activity atm so hoping Im ok because frankly I can't afford to pay for someone elses shoes.

DO NOT USE! Ordered a book and would normally ALWAYS check reviews of a website I’ve never used but for some reason didn’t this time! So annoyed at myself. After having had no confirmation email and no payment taken it was nagging at me that it wasn’t right. Then I looked at “my orders” and it said payment pending that’s when I knew something wasn’t right. Checked on here and low and behold it’s a fraudulent website. Phoned and cancelled my card straight away!

SCAM.

Thought I bought 2 children's books for Christmas which never arrived. After no responses to emails or website messages, i read these reviews and looked into it further. No transaction appeared on my statement, but later my details were used for fraudulent purchases of hundreds of pounds. Thankfully my bank stopped the payment and cancelled the card immediately.

How is this site still running?!

As with other reviewers, placed an order in early December and got the 'Unable to complete the order...'
Tried again just after Christmas and got an order reference that I then couldn't track on their website.
I sent an email enquiring about this, but got no reply.
I then saw the reviews below and have been checking transactions on my cards on a daily basis and saw two fraudulent transactions ordering tickets for shows or events.
Immediately contacted provider, identified the rogue transactions and cancelled card

I ordered a book for less than £5, then immediately read the reviews on here. There were too many reviews saying that Smyths Books were fraudsters. So whilst I haven’t had any money taken, I immediately got onto my banks fraud team, who cancelled my debit card immediately and put a note on my account. My bank fraud team told me that they were aware of Smyths Books and that they are a card harvesting website. I will be watching my bank account daily just incase of any attempted fraudulent transactions. AVOID.

Attempted to purchase a book in December. Payment declined as per others. Immediately cancelled the credit card as smelled a scam. Lo and behold my credit card company texted me yesterday to say there was an attempt to spend £102.00 on the cancelled card at the Nike Store yesterday. Credit card company isn't interested, police don't seem to be interested. How do these people get stopped?

Smyths books are fraudulent scammers.
I thought it weird how I couldn't pay by PayPal but now it's apparent, they are harvesting card details and spending money on them.
Police need to be made aware

I ordered a book on New Years Eve which has not arrived and no response to my e.mail. after reading these reviews I cancelled my credit card immediately. Thank goodness I saw them!!!

Bough a book on their website in November. All was well - secure sign while putting in card details, email to confirm order etc. A few days later I received an email to cancel the order (the same one as mentioned below) On Boxing day £33 was taken from my account to buy Domino's Pizza. My nearest Domino's is 33 miles from my home and I've never been to Domino's!! Called the bank and they have launched a fraud investigation. My cards have been cancelled as a precaution. Do not use this company, and if you have made an order - please keep an eye on all accounts for a few weeks as they don't take the money out for a while.

Tried to order something TWICE and they got rejected couple of days later via email, then I see really bad reviews and a couple week later (today) I’ve had a transaction come out for £100.44 to a shop I haven’t oreered from, or even been on the website!! Be careful

Same experience as others. I've had £2.5k taken from my credit card. Can't get hold of Smyths at all. The book I ordered first time, never came and I was advised the transaction didn't go through. Stupidly I reordered it and it hasn't come. Reporting this my my CC provider now.

Just like everyone else on here, tried to buy something before Christmas and the order failed a few times. Bank account was emptied on Jan 2nd. Disgusting people, not sure how it's allowed to keep running.

Tried ordering a book in November, like everyone else, had problems with payment/order.

Fast forward a month and card company sends me fraud alert text. Luckily the card I'd used has a deliberate low limit so the fraudulent transactions were flagged up straight away. Card cancelled and lesson learned.

This was the only new company I had used so can only have been them.

FRAUDSTERS, SCAMMERS, CARD HARVESTERS
Almost £4k of fraudulent transactions on 2 cards in 4 days over Christmas before I cancelled them all.
All stemming from a single attempted purchase at the beginning of Nov 2018.
Suggest you cancel any card you’ve used on this site (I have) and I’ve also reported to the police and given full details to the credit card fraud departments. Suggest you all make the same report and maybe we can close them down for good.

Same emails and experiences as every one else. Tried on a number of occasions to place order as reviews on their website was very good. Also recently had 2 different cards blocked due to fraud.
Absolutely AVOID!!!! No responses to communications.

THEY USE YOUR CARD DETAILS TO MAKE OTHER ONLINE PURCHASES. I tried to order a book for a Christmas present using this site as it came up cheapest on a Google shopping search. As per everyone elses experience, I received a failed notification. A couple of weeks has now passed and I've just received 3 transactions for John Lewis pending on my account. I have phoned up my bank's fraud team, notified them and they are sending me a new card.

Tried using at start of month - same emails received as stated by others. Tonight my bank informed me there was fraud on my account! Various payments to JD sport, Argos, ip website! And another attempt of £99.95 stopped!!!! Complete and utter rip off website - PLEASE DO NOT USE!!!!! Only place that could be doing this to my account!!!! Cancel your card - I wish I had!!!!

8/12/18 ordered a book from the site using credit card, no confirmation email received.
9/12/18 received this email...

If you are able to wait until this date I can preserve your current order or cancel it.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding in this matter.

I emailed them several times and no phone number listed on site, I didn’t receive any further communication, no transactions for Smyths books appeared on my credit card statement and no book arrived.
Today I had a phone call from credit card fraud dept saying a fraudulent transaction was blocked on my credit card, I checked my statement and on 27/12/18 there was also a transaction for Nike store Amsterdam that was not mine.
There are 112 negative reviews on Trust pilot for Smyths books. Most had received the exact same emails as me. A lot of people had also gone on to have fraudulent transactions reported on their credit cards.
I have reported to action fraud, please do the same so this doesn’t happen to other people.

Used this website and similar stories to other people. I have recently had fraud on my credit card and this is the only website I have used that card for. It says it can't process your card so you try your other ones and steals the info. I have reported this on action fraud and given there details to my credit card company!
