I see that others have had this problem with SIXT as well.
If you do a google search, you will see that this has happened to many people in many different countries, I guess it's a common practice for this scammer company.
Do not use them, listen to the 100s of people who've been scammed.
There's allegedly a scratch >5cm on the front bumper.
For this they are charging me a whooping 800 euros, it's absurd
Blatant damage overcharging
Hired car for 1 week. Incurred very minor scratch to underside of bumper. £150 repair in Uk. Got billed €741. Luckily had private damage waiver but this doesn’t justify such blatant overcharging.
Also got an inferior car to what was stated, although for the same money.
Will never use again. Wish I’d their awful reviews before I booked. Beware

I've been renting cars from many different companies for many years and never had any problems.
Yet, Sixt Slovenia have gone expert in scamming people over the years.
During my latest rental with them, I was pressed to pay more than 300€ for inexistant damages to the car (you can clearly see NOTHING on the check-out pictures).
How they operate?
No one would be there to do the check-out with you. Once you're gone, they have plenty of time to find inexistant damages to accuse you of, and eventually, there's nothing you can do except to pay.
After a couple of reminders (one-sided email, they NEVER replied to my emails), they will threaten you to use a debt collection agency to recover the money, and they'll blacklist you from SIXT worldwide.
It appears that a similar case happened to other colleagues of mine and Slovenian locals, with that same rental agency.
Truly unethical, unprofessional, and disgusting behavior,

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE SCAMMERS! First time renting from Sixt, but far from first time renting a car, and we’ve never had such a terrible experience! They are absolutely scamming people, and why Sixt corporate doesn’t care, I’ve no idea. Same story here, rented, no issues, on drop off they combed over this car with lights and grids, seriously they were inside the trunk, and sitting on the hood inspecting the windshield with lights. They “found” two chips in windscreen (there were a bunch of chips, only two were “ours”apparently, and a microscopic dent on the wheel well. The car was completely covered in frost when we picked it up, and they only show you photos of the prior damage, nobody comes to the actual car with you. We didn’t do anything to this car, and have never had any issue over years and years of travel. Got a bill for over 1400, which we refuse to pay even though our credit card would cover it. This is a ridiculously obvious scam and it needs to be stopped. I assume Sixt at the corporate level could stop this, and they don’t, so I guess that tells you what you need to know about this company at large.

Today the 7th of february we returned our car at Sixt. Within seconds the lady went straight to the back tire and made false accussations about a small damage that you couldn’t even see with your own eyes. She even needed the lighter on her phone to see it herself. We just used the car to go hotel and after 5 days, back to the AirPort. We have an insurance, but we feel like they are searching for damages anyways to take Some extra money.
Vandaag op 7 Februari de auto binnen gebracht bij SIXT, Valse beschuldiging aan achterband bestuurder, dame wist binnen de 2 seconden aan te duiden dat er iets was, niet te zien bij gewoon kijken, hadden auto 5 dagen gehuurd om naar bepaalde locatie te gaan en is daar op een veilige plaats blijven staan, we hebben gelukkig een verzekering, huur nooit bij sixt, gegarandeerd valse beschuldigingen…

Nous sommes victime avec ma famille d’une arnaque à la rayure chez Sixt Ljubljana Airport.
On nous impute des micros rayures inventées sous le pare-choc, rayures que nous n’avons pas commises, qui ressemblent à un coup de clé donné après la restitution.
Je dis « après » car l’agent a décliné de faire le tour du véhicule, tout sourire, « no problem, no problem »
Oui nous avons commis l’erreur de faire confiance en Sixt en ses agents.
J’ajoute que les rayures sur leurs photos sont ridicules et impossible à déceler sans zoom.
Les échanges de mail, puis leur appel téléphonique ont ignoré notre bonne foi, ils ont même le culot de nous reprocher de ne pas avoir pris l’assurance supplémentaire qui aurait couvert cela. En gros, nous sommes arnaqués et c’est de notre faute.
J’avais confiance dans cette entreprise, c’est terminé et quand je navigue sur le net, je découvre que je suis loin d’être un cas isolé.
Ah oui, j’oubliais le montant: 270€!!!!

Please do not rent from SIXT Ljubljana as they will fraudulently make up damage to the car and charge you.
I recently hired a car for 1 week, that had multiple scratches in the pre-rental inspection and unfortunately I didn't take photos as I falsely believed SIXT was a reputable company. After returning the car without any incidents or damage, we were charged with "new scratches".
Unfortunately there are multiple complaints on here that report a similar experience and fraudulent activities by SIXT Ljubljana airport. We are very disappointed with our experience with SIXT and will never use them again in future.
Not a good place
I suggest to be really carefully of using SIXT Ljubljana railway station services. After my 3 day rental period they are charging me 234e "new damage" something like 0.1cm. I think they are legalised scammers in this place.

I've used these guys twice, and got conned once. Not a great ratio!! Dodgy, overpriced damage is how they turn a profit.
They know full well you're in a rush to return the car and force you to wait ages for a return inspection, knowing full well most people will be so worried about missing their flights they won't wait the 30min estimate they give out.
Our car was *covered* in damage when we collected it. Literally every panel had huge hail stone dents several inches across in it. It was so bad it was almost funny.
On return they glanced out the window and said it would be fine. Low and behold they later found a tiny, tiny scratch on an already trashed door panel and wanted hundreds of Euros for a repair that most detailers would be able to undertake in minutes.
Pure scammers. Avoid at all cost. How they get away with it under the Sixt banner is an absolute mystery.
Awful - fake damages
Awful. Collected a car from Ljubljana airport and it was such a faff, ended up waiting around in the baking heat with my pregnant wife for ages. Then when I returned it they made up some damage, the only evidence of which was some blurry photo. Asked about 15 times for clear pictures and they just ignore me, meaning my 3rd party excess cover provider is now reviewing my claim. Scam artists.
Slight marks on tyre rim cost me 156 euro
On collection I signed off on a number of slight body work damages.
On return, the person inspecting the car identified some small marks on the front rim as new damage that I was responsible for.
These marks are not caused by rotational movement and appear to be tool marks from frequent tyre inflation checks or wheel removal
I am confident that previous inspections have missed these very slight marks, as I did on the day.
My exchange of email only resulted in the repeated phrase " not on the pre -inspection" and a bill

I returned my rental to the airport drop off with no incidents or new damage. We were told we wouldnt get a post delivery damage check with them despite asking. After this we sat outside the building and saw the car leave the car park, return and leave again in the next 15 minutes. It was only after seeing someone else driving the car and suspiciously returning it we received a damage report. We asked to see the car and damage before we flew home and were refused.
I thought we would be ok as we had cover from an external insurer but the "evidence" provided (a blurry close up photo of what looked like dirt on the underside bumper) provided did not show the damage with any evidence it was on the car rented and therefore wasn't valid for a claim. The pictures of the car did not even show the area of the car where the close up of the damage was meant to be on the picture. I requested better photos and my request was yet again refused.
Several weeks of stress and arguements followed where sixt refused to provide suitable evidence or answer any questions. We didnt damage this car, we were refused the opportunity to check or see the "damage" and were refused suitable evidence the car had actually had any damage.
100% a fraudulent scam operation. Sixt would do well to cancel this franchise. The only silver lining is this going to lose them a corporate account so its cost them alot more then its cost me.

Rented a car. While picking up i did an inspection of the car with the lady from Sixt at Ljubljana Airport. There was small damage (scratches) on the hubcaps on the passenger side. I pointed that out and the lady said that was not important and that it was superficial. I returned the car properly and i am one hundred percent certain i didn't cause damage to the hubcaps or anywhere else on the car. Now they send me a report claiming i caused the damage on the hubcaps with pictures of the same damage i pointed out at the pick up. These people are scammers. Really nasty and i am going the seak legal support for this.

Nous avons loué une voiture avec Sixt à Ljubljana en juillet dernier. A la restitution, pas de check out , posez les clés et ok nous dit le gars. 4 jours après, on nous demande de nous indiquer comment est arrivé la rayure sur la partie avant droite du véhicule. Belle surprise car nous n'avons pas eu le moindre pépin et avec la caméra de la voiture, difficile de se prendre quelque chose sans s'en rendre compte. Première fois qu'un loueur fait le check out sans nous et nous mentionne beaucoup plus tard par mail une éraflure de 5 à 10 cm que nous n'avons jamais constatée.
Doute absolu et vif sentiment d'une arnaque. Pour nous, Sixt, c'est terminé ! 380 euros pour cette éraflure, un indice de plus pour que l'on soit encore plus méfiant !

Avoid at all cost. The worst experience I’ve ever had renting a car. To begin with, they charged me more for cross country that advertised online. Then they try to push for a comprehensive insurance, as I refused they managed to get money after dropping the car, like a big scam as you can see from the many reviews.
At the drop off I waited on site for the inspection to make sure everything was fine, so the agent finally told me it was done and I had nothing else to pay. Later, after taking my flight home I received an email saying they found a “damage”. The supposed “prove” was a picture as you can see, seems something you can clean up and you can’t even guarantee is the car I been using. Even though they wanted to overcharge more than €200 for that, I wouldn’t be so annoyed to pay if I knew was me. However I’ve taken proper care of this car as I always do. And the way they act seems just like a big scam.
The customer service is ridiculous and they ignore you. At the end they threaten you for the money. I will never use them again.

Definitely avoid from Ljubjiana Airport. When we returned the car they said they found a small scratch to the underside of the car. I honestly dont think we caused this and obviously didnt check the underside of the car when taking it out. They charged us €350 for a scratch no one will see and said our damage liability waiver (which should have limited it to €200) didn't apply because it was the underside of the car. When we tried to challenge all of this they were blunt and clearly just wanted the money. Slightly concerned it may have been a scam rather than an actual scratch. Seems like a common theme looking at other reviews so definitely go with someone else.

Don't rent with Sixt. On returning the car to ljubljana airport, a small scuff was found. Pictures on my Google review. I was billed 240 euro for this. Looking at other reviews, seems like a common theme and not something I've come across in 25 years of car rental. Do yourselves a favour, go elsewhere.

I would give a zero if I could. Didn’t tell us the office in town was shut. Sent us to the railway station office but the address on line was not where the car needed to be. Avoid at all costs. Customer service is appalling!
Brazen fraud
Brazen fraud! Stay away. We rented a new car, not by choice, returned it in good order. We were told by email that two 2cm scratches were found on the wheels. I had insured the car for body damage, the wheels alas were not covered. Ok, agreed to pay 250 euro extra.
Then two invoices arrived from a garage where supposedly a mechanic removed the wheels for an inspection of the scratches! Each invoice was for 250 euro. We must pay in 10 days or they start proceedings. They threaten, their explanations in bad English make no sense. They are fishing for extra $. After I paid the first bill theyosted on my credit card, I received an invoice for another 1.600 euro, again with threats. I ignored these obvious attempts to make an extra buck. Haven’t heard from them again. Ljubljana airport Sixt operates a shady extortion operation.
They are giving their beautiful country a bad name.
Probleme SIXT aeroport LJUBJANA
Bonjour, je reviens de Slovenie après une location chez SIXT aéroport de Ljubljana ; après avoir effectué le retour du véhicule je reçois dans les jours qui suivent un rapport pour une rayure à l’arrière et un impact sur le capot achat (noté "dégât lié à la grêle") il s'avere qu'il y a eu une forte averse de grele sur Ljubjana 2 jours après la location mais j'avais aussitôt (étant présent à coté de la voiture) mis des couvertures sur toute la carrosserie et inspecté après => pas de dégât ; je réclame les photos et celles ci me sont envoyées ; les photos de mauvaises qualité ne traduisent pas cet impact et la rayure ne semble pas en etre une ; j 'ai engagé un recours mais j 'ai du signer un rapport pour m'expliquer ; je suis en attente desormais de la décision pour information le visite contradictoire à la prise du véhicule n'a pas ete faite ("il n y a aucun problème sur la voiture") et j 'ai inspecté le véhicule au retour sans que personne de chez SIXT ne m 'accompagne . Pour info les franchises sont de 800 E bien que j'a régler des assurances complementaire lors de la location L'absence d'état des lieux du véhicule avec cette compagnie de location à la prise du véhicule et au retour est donc un vrai problème (est ce légal d'ailleurs ?); j 'ai découvert sur plusieurs sites dont celui ci forum que choisir et 60 millions de consommateurs avec des déconvenues fréquentes dont la même que la mienne sur des réclamations de dommages de rayures; je déconseille donc fortement SIXT à l’aéroport de Ljubjana au regard de ces méthodes qui pourraient s'apparenter au mieux à un non professionalisme au pire à une arnaque Merci pour votre lecture et choisissez un autre loueur.
