They are complete scammers and want to charge me 596 Euros for damage to a wheel rim that I did not cause. They would not inspect the vehicle when I returned it and later sent me this bogus damage and demand for payment. I have insurance to cover it but I want to warn future renters.

Location à l’aéroport en Slovénie. Nous indique que nous pouvons rajouter un ou plusieurs conducteurs en oubliant bien sûr de mentionner que cela va coûter 45 euros de plus par semaine et par conducteur. Juste que l’empreinte de la carte inclus la caution + carburant si le plein n’est pas fait au retour + nettoyage voiture. Surprise 😮 je redonne la voiture et je reçois par la suite une facture prélevé sur ma carte pour le deuxième conducteur 😡 après 2 mails ne veulent rien savoir. Que dire 🤔 à part que ce sont des voleurs !

Unreasonable expectations of care
The return inspection staff don't appear to know the difference between a wear item and damage. They are currently attempting to charge us for a scratch they believe they've found on the plastic plate used to slide baggage over in the trunk of the car. I wish I could share a picture of the "scratch". It's a joke. Everyone slides their bags over it and apparently the wear is my responsibility.
Rip off "repair" costs
Like others here, I wish I'd read the reviews before booking with Sixt Slovenia. I have just been stung for €600 in unjustified repair costs.
Their 'independent assessment' process is a total sham. Customer services are completely unresponsive. My photos and theirs showed no damage. In any case, I was told when picking up the car that any small marks (under 2cm) would be ignored anyway.
Please avoid them, unless you have bullet-proof private collision damager waiver insurance.

Je suis extrêmement déçu par le service de l'agence Sixt franchisée de Ljubljana. Lors de la restitution de la voiture que j'avais louée, il n'y avait personne pour faire un état des lieux. Quelques jours plus tard, j'ai été informé que deux rayures avaient été trouvées sur le toit du véhicule, suivies d'une facture de 700 € pour ces prétendus dommages.
Ces rayures n'ont clairement pas été causées par moi, et le montant réclamé pour ces dommages est totalement exagéré. Travaillant dans l'industrie automobile, je sais parfaitement ce que de telles réparations devraient coûter, et il est évident que cette facture a été gonflée de manière abusive.
Ce qui m'a le plus choqué, c'est la réponse que j'ai reçue après avoir payé : un simple "thanks for paying this outstanding amount", ce qui était non seulement irrespectueux, mais également provocant.
J'avais confiance en Sixt, mais cette expérience avec une franchise qui profite de la confiance des clients a sérieusement entaché leur réputation à mes yeux. Si vous envisagez de louer une voiture à Ljubljana, je vous conseille fortement de choisir une autre agence, ou du moins de vérifier qu'il ne s'agit pas d'une franchise pour éviter de tels désagréments.

Claims made regarding damage under the car which was likely there on hiring that we were unaware of (let’s face it who lays in the road to look under a car when hiring?) The first thing looked at on return of the car was the underneath, how random!! Probably because it was there before hiring. Now threatening debt collectors.
Inexplicable extra costs added to final bill
When we picked up the car, they quickly reviewed the extra options and services, which we declined. They had us sign a document without properly explaining it. Weeks after returning the car, we were unexpectedly charged an additional €60 with no explanation. This charge wasn't mentioned in our booking confirmation. Upon reviewing the signed document, we noticed two prices—one without the €60 and one with it. They had us sign the document with the extra charge without informing us. The invoice we received weeks after returning the car also included the €60 without any details. We feel misled, as our booking confirmation DID NOT mention any extra costs, neither were we informed about the extra costs. Having considerable experience with car rentals, I have never encountered a situation where inexplicable charges were suddenly added to the bill while picking up the car. Our experience with Sixt in Ljubljana feels like a scam.

Nous avons loué un véhicule pendant 10 jours en juin chez Sixt à l’aéroport de Ljubljana en Slovénie pensant que faire appel à une société de location premium nous garantirait de ne pas avoir de problèmes.
Cette société ne fait pas de check in ni de check out ce qui aurait dû me mettre la puce à l’oreille. L’employé à qui nous avons remis le véhicule en a fait le tour, nous a affirmé que tout était en ordre et n’a pas voulu faire de check out.
Nous avons ensuite reçu une déclaration de dégât montrant une griffe dans le passage de la roue arrière et donc dans l’habitacle.
Ayant utilisé les services de nombreux loueurs de voitures je n’ai jamais dû vérifier l’intérieur du véhicule ni à la réception ni lors de la remise du véhicule.
Voyageant léger et n’étant que deux nous n’avons jamais ouvert les portes arrières et sommes donc dans l’impossibilité d’avoir fait cette griffe.
Nous avons contesté la facture de 395 € mais sans succès.
Il semble vu les recherches que j’ai effectuées suite à cette mésaventure que ce mode de fonctionnement soit habituel chez Sixt.
Sachez donc que si vous désirez néanmoins passer par cette société il faudra majorer votre location d’un montant non négligeable.

Unfortunately, we didn't so now we have to pay the price...
We had booked a specific car and had a full insurance through a third party. The salesperson was pushing that we should get an additional insurance directly through SIXT as well. When we said no thank you, she gave us the keys to another car. We did not think about it too much and the car was fine when we looked for damages (other than the little dent that was stated in the documents). Little did we know that there was a big scratch UNDER the car that could not be seen if you didn't bend over completely.
The day after we returned the car (after having no issues when we had the car in our care), we got notice of the "new damage" which they claimed that we caused. The scratch was big and it would have been unimaginable that we wouldn't have notice it if it had happened while we were driving and as mentioned, the location of the scratch could not have happened while the car was parked. We are absolutely convinced that the scratch happened before us and they purposely left it out (due to its hidden location) from the documents as a previous scratch to get more people to pay for the old damage.

The rental and return itself was fine. HOWEVER, the sales assistant will tell you there are no fuel stations near the airport and suggested paying 59 euros for pre-paid fuel, which we did. Over the 6 days of rental, we only used a quarter of a tank of fuel, and then found that there is in fact a fuel station 6km away, so could've easily refueled for a lot less. Also, I booked the time slot for collection and drop off at the time of making the booking, both were out of hours, and I wasn't charged for this at the time of booking, but was charged an additional 35 euros out-of-hours fee from the bond I had to pay. So whatever price you book it at, it will NEVER be that price! A little more honesty would be appreciated. Other than that, we had no issues. we didn't take out the added insurance and thankfully didn't need it. The car was in good condition, the staff were friendly.

My experience was good. Picking up and turning in the car was easy.
Only thing that bothered me was an extra insurance they really advised me to take.
It was almost a new car. No damages reported. With turning in, I received quickly a report that everything was in order. No new damages (which was correct).
I contacted them to ask about the deposit. Got a fast answer. The deposit was returned within a couple of days. Very happy with the service.
All they want is an extra €240 fine
Everything was fine unit returning the car. When they pointed out a small dent which you can hardly see. They checked over all the car in 10 seconds until they got to the mark which they seen straight away, yet me and my partner still couldn’t see it after them using a torch and a piece of paper. Show you a car in a UNLIT car park so it’s hard to check to begin with. AVOID AT ALL COST THESE ARE SCAMMERS

Excessive charges for minimal scratches

Last August 2023, I rented a car for a week in Slovenia with Sixt through DiscoverCars.
Returned car, didn't notice any damage. A week later, I received my €500 deposit back. However, a few weeks later, I received a letter from Sixt claiming there were damage on door and wheel and they want to charge me €428!
They claimed they tried to email me but couldn't understand why they couldn't get through. This delay has resulted in my Full Coverage Insurance that I have paid extra for being void as it had pass the 28 days time limit to make a claim.
So for the last six months, I have been in long conversations with Sixt and
DiscoverCar over this matter. However, both companies are not very helpful as I truly believe they are working together to scam the poor customers.
The latest is that Sixt has employed a local UK debt agency to chase me down and DiscoverCars has categorically said they will not pay me back the cost if I do make the payment!
I am tired of fighting with them and I don't want to give in and lose €428 through no fault of my own and I can't claim it back!
So stay well away from Sixt and DiscoverCars as I believe they are scamming people on an international level.
Sad thing is, there are many similar cases here.
