Jumped to conclusions too fast

Like many I ordered binax tests and was quite disturbed when the order was abruptly canceled days later. I expressed my displeasure on here but have since discovered that this wasn’t an intent to mislead rather an honest hit to Mersi’s supply chain due to the federal government. I have since received replacements for my order and while not what I originally ordered it is a solid replacement. I am big enough to admit that I judged this family company too harshly and too quickly. They have remedied the situation and I can only imagine how hard they must have been working to get this done.

I ordered a six pack of covid test kits even though I count find them at my local drug store and they delivered at the same price even faster than I expected. I can’t stress how much this company helped my family get together this Christmas. I will definitely be a customer for life

SATISFIED customer

Mersi has been very helpful with my order process and getting the whole test kit situation figured out. When I originally placed my order I found out that it could not be fulfilled because the government had trumped their order with their vendor and ultimately took their stock. But, they were very responsive and were able to provide me with the information on how to get replacement kits. I can tell they are all working hard to make things right and I appreciate more than I can put into words.

Order for COVID Rapid Test Kits I ordered a six pack of COVID rapid…

I ordered a six pack of COVID rapid test kits in mid-December. Price was same as drug stores, but they had them in stock while the drug stores were all sold out. Called after I placed my online order and spoke to a real person. He looked up my order and confirmed that I would receive it before December 25th so I could have a safe Christmas with my family. Received everything by UPS on December 22. Great service and fair pricing. I will definitely use them again.

Thank you Mersi!!!!!

Mersi was beyond helpful finding the right product for me. I understand that they were over run with hundreds of orders but everyone I came into communication with was kind, friendly and helped me to the best of their ability. I would absolutely love to shop with mersi again and thank them for being so wonderful and thoughtful during these challenging times!

Bait and switch

I ordered Binax 6 pack and the order was processed. 3 days later the order was canceled and I was offered some knock-off brand. Bait and Switch. Do not buy from these people

We ordered a six pack of covid tests…

We ordered a six pack of covid tests the weekend prior to Christmas. This small company was overwhelmed by orders, but rallied to fulfill and ship in time for us to be able to test for our holiday. Mersi was and is so good!

Showed me empathy and care

I have to say that even though Mersi wasn't able to fulfill my order on time, they showed such kindness and empathy. They sent me Flowers and Chocolates with an apology. Most places would've not cared and moved on. They also sent me some FDA approved Covid rapid tests yesterday it was such a wonderful surprise! Thank you for your goodwill. Appreciate it very much. Happy New Year!

Mersi is SPECTACULAR!

The team at Mersi is unbelievable. To a person, the team was thoughtful, helpful, knowledgable, considerate, and kind. Jennifer, Otto, Katie, Faris, and I am sure others behind the scenes. They all followed through on promised information, going above and beyond to ensure that the items I ordered were delivered on time. Truly, I have never encountered customer service with such an incredible emphasis on both the customer and service. I will be forever grateful for the quality of their products and their care. They have made a customer for life.

Unfulfilled order and unfortunate business practices

Like another reviewer, they sold me an item they didn’t have in stock (6-pack of COVID tests for $125). I placed the order 12/17, my card was charged 12/19. When there was no tracking update by the afternoon of 12/22, I contacted customer service to confirm whether these were still coming so I knew if I should keep looking or not. I got a quick response stating they would be shipped out same day and received 12/24.

I then got a bulk email hours later stating my order could not be fulfilled and offering replacement products at the same price. This seems like a predatory business practice, especially when the same 6 pack was selling on their website the day after I placed my order for $20 more. So they continued to “sell” stock they never had at a jacked up price, prolonged telling people about the problem, lied when asked if the order would be filled, only to wait until the last minute to switch out the product on people eager to get tests before the holidays.

It’s one thing to be overwhelmed and run out of stock. I’ve had that happen many places I’ve been looking for tests, but I was immediately refunded and told of the problem within minutes of placing the order. Waiting for several days to acknowledge a known problem and not disclose what’s happening, then change the product being offered is a gross way to do business.

UPDATE: I appreciate the details in the response below that give some context to understand the parts that were outside the company’s control. I empathize with things happening rapidly and access to supply changing very quickly. However, I do not appreciate the company’s “value” of refusing to give up and to keep trying when it was done completely behind the scenes because it keeps customers from making informed decisions. The lack of transparency with customers for several days had very real impacts.

I placed my order on a Friday, and had some additional COVID tests in my hands that I could have purchased over the weekend. However, I didn’t want to spend more money (having been charged the $125 for my order already), AND I had already gotten a shipping confirmation with a UPS tracking number which indicated to me that my order was already shipped. Had I known there was an issue, I could have bought the COVID tests I needed. Instead, I chose to wait on the supply I had ordered, only to be told days later it was not able to be fulfilled. By that time, all the stores locally were cleared out.

I am not blaming the company for things they couldn’t control about the supply, but I do find it irresponsible to not communicate the problem until it’s too late - especially when I received a misleading email about shipping AND had a customer service representative assure me the tests were still coming in time. Instead of trying to convince me after the fact that you were doing “everything” you could, I’d ask you to rethink these processes and practices and do what you could have done all along - be forthcoming and timely in communicating when things go wrong instead of hiding it and keeping people’s money tied up in orders you can’t fulfill.

UPDATE - Even though I was eventually refunded for my order because I did not want the replacements, the company did also send me the replacements as they stated they would below. I didn’t request these or expect them, so I do get that they were trying to make things right. However, I was also misled about when these would arrive, and didn’t get them until 1/4 - so after every holiday they could have been helpful for.

I do think this company is trying to offer good products and services, and I believe there were some circumstances that they could not have foreseen or control. However, as a business owner myself, I question if they have realistic expectations/good judgment about what’s feasible, and I would still prefer to support a company with more transparency and quicker response if problems happen. As mentioned, I’d had multiple other orders accepted then immediately cancelled and refunded the same day I ordered from Mersi. I hope they take this as a learning experience.

1/11/22 UPDATE - Haha, unbelievably, I just received an email weeks later stating they will be charging me for the tests that THEY CHOSE to send me for free. This is mindblowing.

I have been assured this was an error, and I haven’t been charged yet. But it continues to be a bad experience and reason enough for me to not consider ordering from them again.

Mersi sent flowers and chocolates to my house in February, which was odd to me. Then last week they flagged my review as “defamatory”. I provided documentation to back up my review, and TrustPilot agreed that my statements are truthful. It is really odd that they cannot just accept when they made a mistake, apologize, and move on - but that’s exactly how this whole thing started.

We'd like to begin by saying you're right. You deserve to be frustrated. We're more frustrated than you with how many of our BinaxNOW orders went. We should have had a better handle on the overwhelming number of orders coming in - literally tens of thousands overnight. The truth is, we had the best intentions in mind. We wanted to be that five-star company that would be there for America during a time of great need, and a time when so many American families needed tests to be able to get together. When we had the BinaxNOW product available on our store, we knew of no issues that would impact our daily flow of incoming inventory. You might have noticed we even paused the listing to fulfill all pending orders many days before the vaccine-or-test mandate even became a 'go'. We had a handle on things, fulfillment was on schedule. We even hired 15 WOW agents overnight to support our growing operation - we were much smaller a week ago without the systems and scale to support this much demand. And then within 24 hours, everything changed. The government swooped in and shocked the supply chain. Our costs shot up and losses mounted. The good news is that those tests the government purchased will be free for Americans when they're distributed, the bad news is that businesses like ours took the brunt of it. Despite these external challenges, despite the market declining to keep us stocked, and despite everything, we did not want to give up on our affected customers. We refused to give in. It's not us, it's not our WOW culture, and it's not the American Dream. If we had the chance to go back in time, we would have made the decision to offer refund-or-replace much sooner. But we're not the type of company to give in. During this entire stressful process, and within 24 hours, we scoured the country for more inventory, we bought up alternative tests, and we did everything in our family business' means to be there for our customers. In the end, instead of cancelling and refunding with a cold email, we worked tirelessly to prepare a plan that would achieve the objective - helping people get tested so they can be with their families this holiday season. So we offered every affected customer the opportunity to have replacement tests so they would at least get tested. And if that wasn't enough, we could issue a hassle-free cancellation and refund.

You won't find another company that will take losses so quickly to delight its customers. We're not as large as Walgreens, CVS, and the others. And yet we're quick to provide discounts, send out backup product, process refunds before evening receive returns, let customers keep product, respond to concerns and questions within minutes, and more. That's who we really are.

We just want you to know that we processed a full refund and besides that, we added you to tomorrow's shipping queue for replacement tests.

We know we fell short but we're doing everything in our power to make things right. Sorry from all of us and we hope you and your family stay safe, healthy, and happy this holiday season.

Steph, we never had any intention of charging you for the replacement tests. In a sign of good faith, we offered them to you free of charge. The email you received from us was sent because our system picked up on the fact that we had sent you a package after having refunded your order, it was not done intentionally. We'll be the first to admit that we have made a lot of mistakes over the past weeks, but our intentions have always remained the same: we are a company that strives to WOW each and every customer. This experience has been extremely difficult and painful for everyone involved, but we have tried to make things right. Again, we really apologise for this bad experience and will learn from this.
