New Revel Customer

We are new to Revel and hope everything goes well. After the initial purchase, we were flooded with different emails and timelines are longer than told when purchasing. Would be nice to have more personal interaction for onboarding.

Communication nightmare.

**update 3/30/18** Apparently they still have some issues to work on in the communication dept. Its been two weeks since they last updated me on the progress of our project. Three emails have gone unanswered and there has been no progress that I can detect. I am torn here because the system functions quite well and I have been happy with the functionality. Revel could be great if only they could solve their customer service issues.
**original review**Revel is an awesome POS, I love the fact that it has all of the functionality anybody could need all in one place. Why only 4 stars? There have been some communication issues that required me to rattle some cages to get results. I would not hesitate to recommend this system to anyone and feel that some of the issues I have experienced are being addressed.

I researched several POS systems before…

I researched several POS systems before making the final decision to go with Revel when I started my business almost one year ago. I am happy to say it was a great decision! I had an excellent experience from the first demo to backend set up and training, integration with credit card processing (Thank you Rob!) and software upgrades etc... The system is reliable, and super user friendly and the customer service team is top notch. Everyone I have spoken with is competent and courteous and they keep you updated on other services that help build your business. So glad to have them in my corner!

Love your system

Love your system. Makes checking out customers easy. When we have had to call, our issues have been resolved the same day.

If possible, would like to make a recommendation. Many of our customers don't wish to have a receipt after a credit card transaction. Can we have a "no thanks" option added?

Thank you so much for the review and feedback! You are definitely able to control receipt options for credit card transactions under Settings > Receipts >
Signature screen allow no receipt -- once that is selected you will be given the option to not print a receipt for that type of transaction.

I love how revel systems is easy to…

I love how revel systems is easy to operate and how the system makes the reports for you and are easily accessible. I also enjoy the pricing of The product. They do not have fees for the usage of the product. which is great because they show that the product is made for their clients. Their customer service is great too. They are very attentive and they show that they care about the growth of your business. I would definitely continue to grow with Revel Systems.

Revel Systems Negative Experience

Initially spoke with Revel Systems on 1/2/18 and explained my system requirements and required completion date of 1/19/18. I was assured everything would be installed on time by Mollie. I submitted all of their documents when asked to and got 1 email from my representative Timothy. Hardware was sent & I paid the full amount for the system then stopped getting responses from Revel Systems. My local representative Timothy did not respond to my emails and Mollie said there was nothing she could do to get my system installed on time. They claimed that I left a document incomplete when their document had a glitch where 1 of the 100+ fields I was required to fill was incorrect and that’s why my system wouldn’t be installed in time.

After losing business at our big grand opening event because we didn’t have said POS system, I respectfully asked for a refund and return shipping labels for the unopened hardware. Mollie said it was out of her hands and I needed to email “cancellations” and talk with Timothy but neither email address was answering me. Now I’m stuck in my startup business out over $3000 and still no response 9 days later. I am writing this review to try to get some attention at the company to fix this situation.

I see your response below and still have not received any information on how to return equipment and part ways with Revel.

I am sorry to hear that your implementation has had some delays. If you have a tight deadline, getting your payment processing set up is the single most important step to ensure you hit your ideal "go live" date.

Unfortunately, if we do not receive the signed Assuresign agreement from you to start the payments onboarding process, you will experience a delay. Getting payment processing set up takes 7-10 business days and thus would need to be started immediately.

It sounds like your rep and local success manager are happy to answer any questions to support you in getting set up and that you have signed the Assuresign agreement as of the 18th. We cannot "fix" the time it takes for the processing setup and we do apologize for any frustration caused.

New to Revel

So far I have had Revel in my store for a week. Unfortunately I have had to run Revel live without much training or support, but that was due to an issue with my last POS system and the need to jump into Revel feet first. So far the system itself has been great. The sales team and the training team have been super, with the very limited time that I have had with them while the try to bend their schedules to fit mine with this quick on boarding. The issue so far has been with the support side of my setup. The staff from support have been kind and sound knowledgable, but either there is a lack of updated knowledge on their end or there is an issue with the management terminal pushing changes to the iPad setup. I spend 5 hours in total on the phone with level's 1, 2 AND 3 trying to get my integrated payments system to work, only to finally have a 5 minute call with my Project Manager, who set it up in 2 minutes. Currently I am still having issues with the setting up of my Loyalty Rewards program, only to have my hour and a half phone call with support pushed to a level 2 rep, who was then more concerned that I was on my home iPad trying to test the service at 1:30am than at my work iPad. Hopefully after my full training I will know more about their system to navigate the product without the need to spend hours upon hours on the phone with the support line to implement settings.
UPDATE:
It turns out a lot of the problems that I was having on my end were not my issue at all, but due to the rushed(in my case of changing from Vend last minute) and DNS server settings not being set properly by support. This was fixed by my project manager.
With the amount of options that Revel has within the Management Console it is hard to figure out if you have all of the settings you are looking for turned on, which makes the software hard to use. That is not to say that it is bad software, or that it wont do what you want it to. It will do just about anything, but you need to know where to look to find it. Searching for key words has been a life saver. You can add different coins to the end of day cash out, as the default is(in Canada) is only to count down as low as Loonies. You can add Quarters, Nickels and Dimes....if you knew to look.
There were still many issues that were not solved until going through the Management Console training, because of the settings not being turned on from the Admin(Revel only) side of the software. I wanted to add product images on my Customer Display Software, which I had turned on, but wouldn't actually work because that function was not turned on by Revel. The hours of searching and watching videos on the Revel University website have been great in the most part, but it is frustrating when it turns out that you have done everything in your power, and the level 1 Support people say the same, only to find out through your Project Manger or higher up support that they forgot to turn on your paid features. Make sure that they turn on everything for you, the software works great at that point.

I am glad to hear that your experience with Sales and Training has been going well so far. For setting up credit card processing, Support is able to point you in the right direction, but instructions for setting up your VAR sheet and payment processing are located in your Welcome Packet sent to you via email when you first purchase Revel -- which is why your onboarding coach would have that info and not Support. Support agents typically help you troubleshoot the POS and walk you through functionality.

I have reviewed your ticket regarding setting up Loyalty and I am sorry that it took a few calls to get it set up properly. In learning your way around a new POS, it can be tricky, and we do apologize if it took longer than expected. I highly recommend using Revel University if you need to set something up on your own. REVEL SUCKS and $5000 do it yourself

It’s been 3 months since I paid $4400 for a deposit on Revel POS for equipment that still has not been installed by the Revel installer who doesn’t drill any holes for installation and required me to hire a handyman to assist him in my installation. They now have charged me $314 for 3 months rental of equipment which they didn’t install. It took me three months of Revel University figuring out how to input my menu items. You need a programming degree to figure out, they do not install your menu items for you, then you need to put in inventory and recipes and prices of everything, that would take me two years with no assistance, their two hours of training is just to recognize login and basics. It’s way to difficult. Try to contact them for a refund, there is no one to talk to they demand thousands of emails and have you going in circles with numbers that were assigned to another employee that another is using. Meaning I had a number installed in my phone but a message from another city and employee was using that number from Revel, you never speak to the same person twice at the same number. Still awaiting a refund in which they have not given me the address where to return the equipment to. They so far have refused to refund me based on their answer “we are renting you equipment, it’s like renting a car that’s not driven.”DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!!

3 months later.... STILL NO REFUND, they received all the equipment back! SO NOT GO WITH THIS REVEL, after going down to the Apple store, they advised me that REVEL has lots of complaints and is not recommending Revel to Apple Customers but suggested SQUARE they are FREE and very simple!

I am sorry to hear that you are not happy with your services. I have reviewed your case with our customer service team who you are currently working with.

When you purchase Revel and professional services that include an on-site installation, it is our policy, and is customary, that your networking and cash wrap area is ready to go prior to the POS installation as our installers are not construction contractors but POS installation technicians and thus are not insured to perform construction on your establishment. All of the professional services that are purchased include "implementation checklist" and conditions for the services which are sent to customers upon purchase to help prepare them for the process and require a signature. Our team is happy to accommodate your schedule within reason to help support your success. Our installers do travel to your location and have a schedule and are as flexible as possible.

In terms of your menu, we do not "build" a customer's menu as doing so inhibits the onboarding and learning process. Instead, our approach is to do a consultation so that you have full control and understanding of your point of sale and inventory. Most of our customers appreciate this practice as it benefits them in the long run. We do apologize that this has been a frustrating experience for you.

Depending on your purchasing agreement and package and credit qualifications, some customers are required to pay a year up-front. The bonus on some of these agreements is that Revel takes care of any faulty hardware exchanges for customers. Based on your review, it sounds like the $4k is a combination of professional services and the year up front.

I do hope that this clears some of the issues up for you. Of course, you have the opportunity to receive further explanation from our customer service team and they are happy to help you complete your set up, or, if you wish to cancel, they will facilitate that process as well.

What I Love about REVEL is that every time I call them to ask the simplest question on how to teach me how to change or add anything in my pod system they are always helping me.
