Absolute garbage!!

Absolute garbage!!! I would never in my entire life would EVER recommend anyone touching this POS, not even with a stick. Sales guys are very misleading. In the demo I asked for very specific menus and modifiers and was told it is not available in the Demo but we can easily set that up in the actual menu build out. Guess what... features I was requesting were not available in their system, customer service guys are completely clueless, the whole company is dysfunctional, nobody knows who to contact and who handles what. It's a mess and in the end after deciding to cancel after finding out what a gimmick Revel Systems is they tried to send me to collections after fully complying with cancellation policy. You've been warned!!!!!

You purchase the system

You purchase the system. They install it and give you access to online videos that are very basic and leave you on your own. For an expensive system the set up training and support is lousy on it’s best day

Also terrible experience. Do not use if you are independent operator is my experience. In countries where you need a fiscal printer . . . Absolutely, POSITIVELY DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Horrible service, they have been promising rapid response to not being able use basic functions, they blame it on the country, but research shows all countries needing a fiscal printer have the same problem, once you are in their system. This has been going on for five years. The only thing they have done on time is billing, and raising their monthly fee. That process is never late. Tech support, well, im still waiting five years later. I have given up. Implementing a new system that is actually proven to work is where i am going. I consider Revel a loss that cost me nearly 20K.

They pray on the local operator that doesn't have the resources to switch systems. I am switching, and i am shouting to not use them at the top of my lungs. For us little guys we must have some level of trust in our vendors.

I have none for Revel.

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

For 2 weeks now we have been using a swipe reader provided by Revel which doesn't work properly, they don't want to exchange it, they have not given us a solution in 2 weeks. We had a big store sale and we lost many customers as we had to enter CC manually unable to swipe bc their product is not working! We are losing money, we have explained this issue in many ways, every day since and still NO SOLUTION so far....

So frustrated, hope you never have to deal with a stupid issue like this one, or you will be stuck with the problem losing business!!!

I have already wasted too much of my…

I have already wasted too much of my time dealing with Revel to type out a complete and formal review. Instead I will just say this: Revel is the worst Pos I have ever used! I would give them 0 stars if I could. Updates are a joke. The only thing consistent with Revel is constant problems/ glitches, and poor customer service.

Revel will allow you to expand your business.....

We have used Revel for almost 4 years and believe it to be extremely powerful. We highly recommend it to those looking for full service restaurant capability. Being pleased does not mean there are not areas that need improvement. There needs to be a better method for allowing customers to try out new versions in their own environment. Also would be nice to be able to delete information that is very old rather than having to keep it. Service when working with CRM has been very positive. Not real thrilled with having to go thru tier one every time we call in with a new problem and would like to see that process cleaned up. Don't be scared by the on going price as the service plan which includes the hardware is well worth the support you get. Don't be scared by how much information is required to get it set up. Once up and running it runs well without much attention.

Overall good system

Not the cheapest but has all the bells and whistles you’ll need with a POS. Very flexible. Backend reporting KPIs are ok. Plenty of tutorials online to get you up to speed on how to get up to speed. Although the POS is “wireless” when viewed by the customers they’re a lot of wires needed to run the POS.

Was really disappointed that Revel created an app for my iPhone and wanted to charge be extra to access it.

I love this system

I love this system. The only thing that I notice as a problem is when you input the prices on the inventory page it doesn’t update on the product page. Also the fact that you have to manually put the cost of each item in when making a purchase order.

Functional, but far from ideal.

Functionally, it works for most things we need and very rarely has caused a disruption during operations. However, it severely lacks in things we want. We have yet to receive upgrades for tap to pay and chip & pin, as we were assured were on their way when we initially agreed to use Revel (over 1 1/2 years ago). It is also lacking in the CRM function, not allowing for simple features like expiration dates. Reporting is also not straightforward, as EOD reports do not adjust for returns and payouts.

We tried to try Revel but it was terrible. Revel never completed entering our menu which I paid for. Their follow up was non existent, customer service was also bad. No one made sure our system was fully complete so we actually never used it. All up I paid $1600 and then I was not given a refund. All I can say is I was and am very dissatisfied.

Update- I never bought hardware from you, all the hardware is Pre-existing. The refund you cave me was Insignificant compared to what I had spent.

I gave up trying to reason with Revel and have now gone to another POS system called KOUNTA and I can happily report that I have had no issues to date. To anyone reading this review please be warned that I’m not the only one that has had a negative experience with Revel Systems.

I have taken a look at your support history to see how we can help you and it looks like you have not been a customer since June, 2017. I see a refund for your onboarding menu-build package. If you do not want your iPad, you are welcome to resell it or use it personally. In terms of returning hardware, that would be explained in your Terms and Conditions as I am sure there was a window there where we could have easily restocked your hardware for you. If you need any further clarification, please feel free to re-open your ticket with our team regarding the cancelation of your account.

search button problematic

I just have one question. Why is there an information button next to the search button in the top right corner? Everyone at our restaurant uses the search button and not necessarily the menu options, but we are always accidentally pushing the ‘question mark’ instead of the ‘magnifying glass’

I might ask that you move the magnifying glass all the way to the right (aka swap it with the ‘question mark’) and give it some space from the other buttons on the left so that pressing it is less of an issue.

I just called couple weeks ago to fix…

I just called couple weeks ago to fix our system and we couldn't fix that over the phone and finally I asked to send someone to fix that but the gentleman over the phone told me it takes couple weeks to send someone to fix the systems. I believe based on my experience with other companies something like this should fix so quickly.
Also I'm offering you to add some more tools like: As a manager sometimes I have some massages for employees and I want to let them know before they start to work and that would be great if they get the massages at the clock in time (focus pos system has this option)

I am sorry to hear that! I see a record of your call on our help desk and, unfortunately, it looks like the call was dropped. Our Support agents are more than happy to continue troubleshooting a network issue and if the call is disconnected we recommend simply calling back into Support. For the type of issue you called in for, it is typically resolved with an agent over the phone by power cycling the modem. We do not usually see such a severe case that we would need to send a CSM onsite. There are, of course, exceptions but we would want to troubleshoot with you to get you the fastest service first over the phone.

We do not have messaging on the Front End of the POS at this time but it sounds like a great feature worth suggesting. You are able to suggest new features on our Support site - just scroll down to the blue button here: https://support.revelsystems.com/hc/en-us/.
I have heard of workarounds for communicating with your employees on an iPad and our Support teams would be happy to assist you.
