When I first attended PCP Luton I was in a very dark place with alcohol I want to leave on my first but the staff were very support and welcoming I decided to stay it was the best choice of my life, after 10 days of treatment I feel I have achieved so much with the help provided to me. I would highly recommend anyone who want to change there live please give them a chance to help you. My councillor Andy is an amazing guy, he is highly dedicated and genuinely want to save live.

PCP saved my life

Thank you PCP and a special thanks to Amanda, Michael and Maria. I spent 6 weeks in the rehab and learnt so much about myself and managed to stop drinking without any problem at all. I used to drink 3 bottles of wine a day and couldn’t stop. Now I am back at home and doing really well. Thanks for everything guys you have saved my life.

Thank You PCP……Amazing !!!

I have just completed my 8 week residential treatment and am so pleased I decided to go to PCP. When I entered PCP my life was in tatters and my wife and family had deserted me. The attention and treatment I received was amazing, I have not even felt like drinking once since I entered their doors. I realised I was the one that needed to change and the counsellors helped me do this and I now have my whole life ahead of me. I now have my family back and I have support. Looking forward to seeing everyone in aftercare. Thank you PCP

My partner was in the treatment centre…

My partner was in the treatment centre and everyone was so nice and really understood the trauma we both were going through at the time. When everything was calm and settled they took time and patience to untangle the dysfunctional world you slip into in the midst of addiction and with the help of everyone we all were able to get our family back on track. What a fantastic place and they really understand what you need.

JULY 23 REVIEW

I have to say this is the best we have might have been to. It's my third one and it's only focused on the 12 steps I would not believe the negative reviews I would say there are people who don't willing to accept They have an illness.

I'm currently at this treatment center and I can assure you staff are decent. If you want to go and use or you want to ruin your life go and do it if you want to get better sit down and accept it and work the program.

Think about it….

Please ignore some of the reviews you read below.
Unfortunately, and I have seen this myself first hand, the negative reviews you see here are from drug and addicts and mainly alcoholics (the nasty ones - I know, I am one!) - the one's who didn't make it through PCP's amazing rehab programme. I am now 4 years sober but many people simply do not make it to the end of the programme or relapse shortly afterwards - this is purely down to the fact that they weren't motivated or hadn't truly 'had enough'. They have decided to 'blame' (PCP in this case) - this is what us alcoholics do. If you look past the bad reviews, there are also many amazing reviews, from genuine people like me, the ones of us (we are out there!) who made it - we got clean and sober.

When I was at PCP, their amazing staff showed me that there was a real life of happiness in sobriety and that if I put my recovery first I could achieve anything in life, everything would fall into place - which it has. All the team, Michael, Kieran, Amanda, Maria, Geraldine - all fantastic, dedicated people whose only goal when they wake up every morning is to help someone. The programme on offer at PCP is first class, and better than the Priory and some of the other expensive clinics. Not only that the detox is carried out by very caring Nurses who are on-site every day and a team of 24 hour staff. Someone mentioned meals, yes at PCP before you had to cook your own meals, but now they have a chef cooking all meals, so everything is provided.

If you are looking for detox and rehab for someone you know, look no further, but only if you or the person you are looking for really wants it. The only person that will make a success or your life and achieve sobriety is you - it takes courage and hard-work but the team at PCP will show you how to do it, teach you how to change your attitude, change your behaviour and ultimately change your life. Couldn't recommend more highly.

I spent 5 weeks at PCP Luton after…

I spent 5 weeks at PCP Luton after relapsing multiple times and attending 2 separate “luxury” treatment centres in London and in South Africa…. I was very reluctant to engage with a 12 step program as I didn’t understand the spiritual aspect of the illness of addiction and was very reluctant to engage when I first arrived at PCP Luton (having initially booked a 10 day detox)… I ended up extending my time there for a total of 5 weeks as I finally realised that I was willing to surrender to a solution that had worked for so many others and that I was completely broken by a life that WAS going to kill me. The reason I was able to entirely hand myself over to their program instead of living in my own denial and self loathing / fear was entirely down to the quality of the counselling staff (nurses included) and the people I was at PCP with, who were a massive source of strength and support. The counselling team including Amanda, Kieran, Geraldine and Michael to name but a few will tell you what you need to hear (not always what you want to hear!) and are always on hand to help you through your own process - I could not emphasise enough how much their care and experience has saved my life. More importantly, they made me understand that ultimately, recovery and it’s responsibilities sit with me and without fully surrendering and following simple instructions that the counselling team clearly explained to me in tandem with the thorough and high quality paperwork (authored by Michael and the team), that I had everything I needed to get well. There were many tough days throughout my 5 weeks but with the right attitude and open mindedness, PCP Luton is a special place which gives the gift of the ability to start a new, happier life.

This is a follow up from the previous review…Legal action to be taken

This is a follow up from the previous review.
This place is a money making machine and nothing else. After submitting a formal complaint on leaving after 5 days, PCP have taken no responsibility. They failed to do a urine sample upon arrival and have come back with I wasn’t capable, I mean this is mandatory?! I wasn’t given any equipment to provide a sample. The submission is done over zoom with a doctor and the signal constantly cut out. Every member of staff lied in Deborah Griffith’s finding report on what happened during my stay. I was charged £5,495 for a two week detox, they refuse to give me a vat receipt or breakdown of how this cost was calculated, you’ll see from below reviews that others were charged a lot less! All staff including Amanda who manages PCP Luton have lied about what I did and didn’t say and denied all knowledge of saying to myself and my partner when I left that “she felt I had been let down” DO NOT GO HERE!
Re PCP Chelmsford if you ever wondered why that closed down see the below - Note CQC are totally independent

PCP Chelmsford have been put into "SPECIAL MEASURES", not something that is done often. This means serious problems.

Also, this -

“The Registered Provider (PCP) must not admit any service users who require a new course of detoxification treatment from addictive substances without the prior written agreement of the Care Quality Commission.”

The regulator has stopped them admitting any new clients without the CQC's permission !!!!!!

And this!!!!

“And this - The Registered Provider must provide the Care Quality Commission with a report setting out the actions taken or to be taken in relation to conditions above by 23 April 2021 and every Friday after that. The report must also include the following…….”

So they have to provide CQC with a weekly report to stay operational!

This sort of explains why the old Registered Manager of PCP Chelmsford (JP) was removed from his position, and worse still why PCP are now advertising for a new Registered Manager and wait for it "Problem Solver" on Indeed. So it seems that the current manager (ZI)'s days are also numbered.

The CQC rated PCP Chelmsford "Safety" as INADEQUATE! They rated the "Leadership" as INADEQUATE. Their overall rating for the service was INADEQUATE!

Specifically, the CQC state -

1. The service did not provide safe care and treatment.
2. The service did not manage medication safely.
3. Leaders did not demonstrate that they fully understood their responsibilities.

What MUST they improve in the next 6 months or face possible closure?

• The service must ensure that it follows the government’s guidelines on Covid-19: infection prevention and control.
Regulation 12(1)
• The service must ensure that staff follow the services Covid-19 risk management plan to protect clients and staff.
• The service must ensure that they manage medication safely and follow national guidance. Regulation 12(1)
• The service must ensure that it follows the guidelines which are set out in the drug misuse and dependence – UK
guidelines on clinical Management (also known as the Orange book) when providing medical detoxification to
clients. Regulation 12(1)
• The service must ensure staff regularly check all medical equipment to ensure it is working correctly. Regulation 12(1)
• The service must ensure that it reports and investigates incidents in line with their policy. Regulation 17(1)
• The service must ensure that it implements a robust governance system to monitor the effectiveness of the service.
Regulation 17(1)
• The service must ensure that it responds to and investigates complaints in line with duty of candour. Regulation 16(1)
• The service must ensure it has a system in place to record and monitor risks to the service. Regulation 17(1)

This place is unfit for use and I am taking legal action despite their lack of response.

Worst rehab ever

Worst rehab ever! I’ve just had the most frightening experience their, they got my detox medication incorrect which pushed me into horrendous withdrawal. I was then accused of lying to the doctor when I know I told the truth and my partner can back me up. They never managed to get my own medication and basically left me in complete pain, mentally and physically. The therapists are condescending and rude, Kieran in particular. Only knew me for a few days and treated me like and child and accused me of being someone I wasn’t! I left after 5 days and will be making a full complaint to the CQC. They ship you off to a different house basically unsupervised! An un safe place. Do not go here if you’re expecting a “normal” rehab facility. Dirty rooms which are unsafe. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER

Dishonest, bad service no refunds …

You will be told before admission that will get 1.1 counselling daily, have access to food 24.7, have a comfortable room, take turns cooking and the premises will be clean. Not the case, no 1.1 counseling, food is cornflakes which you can have for breakfast and then any other time. You will never cook. The place is dirty. You will be stuck in you room with nothing to do except for about one meeting a day and a bit of homework. If you can not sleep tough luck. The worse thing is that if you can not take being stuck in your room with nothing to do and leave you will not get a refund. My relative paid for three months left after two weeks ( which many do) and they refused to refund anything. They have term in the contract which is a breach of trading standards but which they enforce. They prey on desperate loved ones and vulnerable addicts. They take your money and do not deliver. Good honest rehabs are required, this is not one of the,

Disappointment

I didn't want to nor had any intention of writing this review, but felt compelled... please read on and ill explain...

Firstly, alcohol has been a long term struggle for myself, and I'd hit the bottom..

So, day 2 of going cold turkey, sweats, hallucinations etc.
I'm sure I dont need to explain that I wasn't quite in the right frame of mind, google searched and phoned PCP

I phoned PCP company and spoke to James who was polite and informative. I explained I was on day 2 of detoxing and was really not with it in regards to my mental state.

Here ends the good review!

After a discussion that i barely remember,I opted for a 2 week rehab and paid £1000 deposit on my credit card, and filled out an online submission form to secure a bed.

I now decided to Google the location after paying (wrong way of doing things, I know but as I said, my thinking and logic were far from clear at this time). And immediately decided this wasn't for me, incidentally, the total for the stay for a fortnight was £4500)

I didn't expect luxury, but I didn't expect the clinic to be situated on an industrial estate in Luton.
I looked on Google Earth and this confirmed it wasn't for me as the first image I saw was the 'Black Bull' public house situated next door... I searched again, with a more level head and found a clinic situated in the countryside which I felt would suit my personal choice and journey better. (£2000 more but I felt I had a better chance of recovery here).

So, I phoned PCP, explained the situation, and that I'd chosen a different clinic that I believed would be more beneficial to myself.
I also explained that I required my deposit back to pay the extra for the preferred clinic.

I was told in no uncertain terms that the deposit was nonrefundable. I almost begged and explained that I needed it to pay for my rehab my chosen location or it wouldn't be affordable.

I honestly thought that the job James does, which is apparently for the benefic of addicts, he would understand the situation, return the deposit and wish me luck on my chosen path.

Quite the opposite, I was again told I wasn't entitled to a refund as I'd filled out the submission form.

bear in mind I hadn't used any of the services offered, which I believe means the money should lawfully be refunded, infact the only correspondence was a handful of email and calls from my phone.

Anyway, I did raise the funds and attened the other clinic, and it was a choice well made, I'm nearly five weeks sober and taking each day as it comes.

the down side is the £1000 deposit is now due on my credit card which I have no way of paying after opting for my preferred rehab, and Its getting more overdue and more stressful,

Stress, is one of my triggers for drinking - and I used to drink to pretend, and almost believe things weren't happening and would go away..

I feel strong at the minute, and I'm hoping things don't get on top of me too much and I turn back to drink.!
The wife is supportive and ensures me we'll get through it, although her mannerisms tell a different story.

Ironically, it could, be PCP, who 'specalise' in this treatment play a part in my relapse.

Brilliant program

Brilliant program, great staff and lovely atmosphere. Going to PCP Luton was the best decision l have ever made. I was fortunate to do 12 weeks there and can honestly say it has changed my life! The staff are extremely caring and knowledgeable and l learnt so much about my addiction and more importantly how to live a better and indeed sober life. Today I am celebrating 6 months of sobriety! However, l couldn't have done it without the support and loving help of the staff. I would like to say a special thank you t Amanda and Michael for making my treatment and on going recovery a success. I can't praise this place enough. Kind regards Debra

Posotive experience

What can I say to give pcp the praise it deserves? Well the thought instantly comes to mind that it HAS saved my life. I finally have joy and a sense of purpose for the first time in 20 or so years and its all because of the staff at pcp. An amazing friendly group of people who genuinely care about the disease of addiction. I cannot thank them enough expecially Dell. If you were hopeless like me and broken then all I can suggest is go there with an open mind if nothing else has worked for you. I can't thank them enough.

Does rehab really work?.....continued

Does rehab really work?.....continued

I also just want to clarify as I know many will think all my previous points may be valid but in that case where does the money go. Like any health service in this country that isn't funded by NHS it is costly because it requires the service of highly trained professionals who have worked hard enough to justify a comfortable salary. Just like dentist fees not supported by the NHS, private health care or even vetinary fees. Any health service which is not funded by the NHS is costly. Aside from facility overheads there are a number of highly trained professionals "on the books". Perry clayman....nor Phillip by the way....may drive a Bentley but so do countless business owners. Is there a manual somewhere that says you can only drive a Bentley as a business owne of your business is in any industry but the rehab industry. Perry is himself on recovery and has built up a business which has helped countless people over the years. The man deserves to drive what ever he chooses just as you and I do.

And finally to mentio. I have no affiliation to PCP aside from the fact I am an ex client. Its likely PCP are reading this wondering who I am it was that long ago. I was the Northern girl with blonde hair. I did a 58 day detox and spent 50 days on the detox house!! Brutal! Back in Feb - May 2017.
I often reflect on my life and had little moment in my Luton memories tonight and thought I'd look up PCP to see if they're still about etc. Have a little nosey as you do. And when I read some of the complaints on here it truly triggered me. I felt affected emotionally because without this place there is bob hope and no hope I'd be still breathing today. While in there I hated every second of it, and I told them so. But I knew it was because this time, this place was working me hard. This rehab was actually working. They could see I had potential and boy oh boy did they put me through my paces. Kieron (dont think hes still there) asked me to rewrite step 2 three times during my detox but it was all for my good. People with no experience of treatment center will have complained about that. But there was no malice in it. They pushed me because they could see the potential if they did. And they was on the money! They want to see people recover. This place had passion in me. James the manager at times went beyond what was expected to help pull me through a brutal detox.
And I did it. We did it. I'm absolute testament that PCP does exactly what it's meant to do. If you have it within you to get clean and it's truly your time I could not possibly recommend this place enough.
Much love my guys

Do rehabs even work?

Do rehabs even work? Most will answer no to that question and in many cases they will be correct. And no was also my answer for 22 years of heavy addiction to opiates and crack cocaine. Until I admitted myself to PCP. In my 22 years of addiction I have been in 4 rehabs including PCP. Nothing fixed me. This review is delayed by 6 years. Many write reviews days, weeks or months after leaving treatment, complaining or complimenting the services and facilities. But when peope search out rehabs it's in desperation for yourself or a close one and the big question you want answering is....but will this place fix me/him/her? Well I am testimony that PCP fixed me! I am now 43 years old, 6 years into recovery and 3 years into a psychology degree specialising in addiction after 22 long years of a very debilitating addiction.
Many of the complaints I've read are about the facilities, lack of food, the medication supplied. My presumption is that the complaints made are from people who have little experience of treatment centres.
It's not a hotel! You're not booking a 1-3 month all inclusive here. Facilities are very basic but more than adequate. Housekeeping of the main buildings is upto the clients. Breakfast and evening meals are the responsibility of the clients. You don't get allocated a cleaner to mop up your mess and chef to cook your meals! You keep your own garden clean and tidy and your own belly nice and full, just as you would do at home. Lunch is provided by the centre and is supplied from a local sandwich shop....what else are you expecting to eat for lunch a 3 course meal? The live in properties are again extremely basic but they are on a monthly cycle of new tenants. Ask any landlord in the country regarding the upkeep and maintenance on a properly thats on a YEARLY cycle of tenants. And clients in a treatment centres tend to have dysfunctional living habits that need to be worked on. That wont happen with cleaners and cooks supplied. The properties are more than adequately furnished. Your not making a home out of the place, it is a stop gap to help you get on your feet. They are comfortable enough for the time that's needed to live in them and believe me I've had rehabs with a whole lot worse than PCP.
Medication is supplied on an assessment basis. The doctor is specialised in biological functions of addiction and is more than qualified enough to prescribe on telephone conversations given the nature of the issue which requires medicating, is one he has dealt with countless times on a daily basis for a number of years. Personal medical records are made fully accessible to said medical team also as they were aware about issues I had that I hadn't brought to their attention.
Disclaimers are required by all treatment centres in this country to be signed upon admittance to confirm you agree and accept no refund is permissable once the document has been signed. This isnt just PCP. The amount of clients that leave within a day or two or even a week would mean the treatment centre would likely fall into adminstration if refunds were issued to every early leaver. Im not aware of official statistics but i can assure it will likely be around 30% of admittance to rehabs actualky full complete the program.
Phones are removed out of your possession for a period of time to enable you to fully focus on settling into an environment that's is expected to be very difficult and uncomfortable. What benefit does a man "driving a bentley" gain from taking people's phones?
Each and every client upon entering PCP is over the age of 18. So should a client choose to leave treatment then it is not the responsibility of the centre to treat said client like a missing child. If you can a buy a bottle or a bag you're capable of making your own calls to ease the concerns of family members and that doesn't happen then that's the responsibility of said "adult" client.
The treatment program is primarily 12 step recovery based but also offers psychotherapy alongside that in group meetinsg and the option of 121 therapy with a psychotherapist is also available. 12 step can be referred to by many as being "cult" like but that shouldn't reflect on the facilities provided by PCP.
Evening walks to public AA CA and NA meetings are encouraged not to shake of responsibility but because an integral part of the 12 step recovery is to become an active member in the fellowship. The walks are very rarely over 20 mins and that also helps to promote fitness in the many clients whose health is deteriorating due to the in activity experienced in addiction. You're not booking into a 5 star with a chauffer!
I felt I wanted to write this review after so many years as it saddened me to read all the complaints. This place saved my life. My 4th and final rehab that worked me harder than any other. Thankyou PCP. Becci
