Great company that is excellent for the model railway hobby long may they continue.

Brilliant Work from the Second Hand team of Rails in dealing with the purchasing of my Model railway stuff. They are both professional and courteous when dealing with you.

I use this company a lot for my 00 railway collection and have spent over £3,000 to date -they stock a huge variety of railway goods as well as diecast models etc. the staff are first class and Jake and Ben have been very helpful in buying some of my own locos and rolling stock
Packages arrive with 24 hrs well packed and ready for use -they were also voted retailer of the year by hornby in 2025 which is well deserved

Purchased a Sonic A5 with dcc sound from rails great item, free postage as well.

Loco kept stopping I thought it was the pickups, I took it to the shop saw a guy I think he’s called Rob who took a good look at it and tested it on the shops layout, it was perfect.

long story short he suggested I check my track where it stopped. It was perfectly clean but had buckled during the summer heat.

Fair offer and super quick payment. Only wish would be that sellers could download labels and deposit shipments rather than having to arrange a pickup.

I've just sold some locomotives for the 4th time to Rails and once again it went so easy.
I didn't speak to anybody it was all done by email I just described the locomotives and they stood on their quote once they received them.

Decided to sell my N Gauge locos and made an enquiry. Swift response with very reasonable offer. They arranged transport from my location and after assessing, contacted me and the deal was done. A superb service and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone. In fact I already have!

Dissapointed in their less than fair offer to purchase my unused as new OO gauge locos. After reading their literature bigging up about them offering fair prices etc, I sent them details of around 6 locos (inc a pristine unused Accurascale Manor Class Dcc with sound) all of which were unused in like new condition and in undamaged original packaging. I was shocked to see they offered me less for all of them than the price they are asking for a single used Accurascale Manor class currently advertised on their website, therefore, in effect they were getting pure profit on the other 5 locos, which is just plain greedy. . Glad I was not desperate to sell them...

Great communication, very helpful and very prompt and very fair payment. I was selling my late Father's collection. They even arranged Parcelforce pickup from my house - amazing!

Moving home and downsizing means the OO gauge model railway has had to go. Rails of Sheffield have been superb. Took everything and paid a very fair price. They arranged a Parcel Force pick-up. A very professional company with a "can-do" attitude. I wished to sell a large railway collection, they immediately said "no problem we can give you a price". There was constant communication by email. They gave a very fair price based on a loco list (plus some general info) and stood by it after collecting the collection and scrutinising it. The money was in the bank within hours. No hassle! Very pleased.

This was a really easy to use site. I was able to find and identify nearly all of my Dad's 40 year old railway collection.
