THREATS OF COURT AND RUINING CREDIT

i had a system put in my office over 20 years ago. i moved out 15 years ago, They would not let me cancel the contract even though I was not in the building. They continued to draft my account even after repeated calls informing them I was not using the system anymore. Now 15 years after I moved out and informed them, they are threatening to take me to court and ruin my credit over $600.

I agree with everyone that say protect…

I agree with everyone that say protect America is a scam. I called several times when I had them about their horrible service, when I ask to cancel they said no. You have to pay 2000 dollars to cancel. The alarms was going off for no reason and they tried to send signals. Nothing work. So they put it on my credit. A man called me getting smart with me. They rude and they will not bully me because they have horrible service.

Use ANYone else

Legally acceptable, humanely disgusting. Service was adequate but I will never use nor recommend them to anyone. They are only interested in your wallet and couldn't care less about the customer.

Protect America Austin Texas Dishonest & Deceptive Company!

If there’s any doubt that Protect America in Austin Texas is not a corrupt, sorry and pitiful company, please read the reviews taken verbatim from Yelp. There are hundreds of them going back several years. Their main emphasis is ripping their clients off for every cent they can. They deploy an in-house sycophant/toady Andrew R. who responds to hundreds of negative reviews with a “thanks for reaching out.” I know it’s not easy being a shill for one of the worst companies in the world, but how about a little understanding, compassion and fundamental decency? No such luck with this dishonest, deceptive & pathetic company

“Worst company in America. They are very scammy and the equipment is terrible. Avoid these guys and the lengthy contracts. Protect America does not do what they advertise, at all, in any way shape or form. There reviews have only remained strong because they basically pay people or give them something at a discount to write a better review. I know this first hand, because I they offered me free things to change my review. The truth is, they will not be there when you need them the most. There entire business model is based on creating unnecessary fees, over charging, and when you cancel they bill you one extra time to get another payment. they are only following the procedure. There system is a scam making customers feel like it is their fault because the equipment is not working. If you want to be nickel and dimed, if you want horrible customer service, and most of all if you want your home to be unsafe and get charged for it.... then sign up with these guys. time. adequate alarm services as they advertise. Protect America is just terrible, there is no other way to put it.If I could rate them lower than one star, I. Their lack of integrity and inferior customer service is horrendous.”

Protect America – a Home Alarm Business in Austin Texas
Look at the reviews on Yelp and the staggering amount of negative reviews There’s a common theme: Protect America, Austin Texas is a scam-ridden, dishonest and disreputable company that is to be avoided at all costs. Once they get their claws into you with an agreement you’re sunk – there’s nothing you can do to modify or cancel an agreement that is unfairly struck – even for non-performance as they did with me - not installing the alarm. If you try they will go after you like a bulldog that won’t let go. Even though I owe them nothing they initiated a campaign of threatening letters and phone calls. Their most disgraceful enforcement technique is a falsified, fraudulent credit report that is grossly inaccurate since I owe them zero dollars.
Don’t let them get away with it. Please avoid business with this company. If you don’t, you’ll sorely regret it.

Does not actually provide security. The systems are cheap, and when they fail to perform basic functions, the company hides behind long term contracts to keep you paying monthly. Very frustrating, have tried many times to cancel or get something that works...countless hours testing my patience with customer service, tech support, and upper management.

Can't wait until my contract is expired so I can get away from this company.

Not only stay away, RUN away!

Where to begin... They sent the system to the wrong address, then stated that I should go to the address to pick it up from whomever lived at the address they sent it to. I convinced FedEx to go and retrieve the package and route it to me. 6 days later, it arrives and is nothing like I was told. The sensors were big and barely fit anywhere. Since I already had a wired system, my wife and I decided that we were going to pass and send this back. I called them and told them I wanted to cancel and to keep my initial fee for their troubles. After them trying to haggle with me and tell me I am out of the contract window to cancel, I simply told them to sue me. They said I had 15 days and it's funny how I called to cancel before that but apparently they consider the 5 days of shipping and the other 6 days that it took for FedEx to retrieve the package from the wrong address as part of the 15 days... So now it is 3 months later and I get a call from Damon telling me that he does't want to send this to a 3rd party collection and that they will give me a option to pay off the contract. A contract that was never valid and for which I never received service. This company is a boiler room company with horrible customer service and should start taking responsibility for their own mistakes. If you mess up then you eat the cancellation. You don't try to bully someone into giving you money for services that you didn't provide.

Protect America was by far the worst …

Protect America was by far the worst alarm system. They make you call in every month to make sure everything is working and they state if I don’t they are not helping liable for anything that happens. The worst part is customer service. Because I have a call every month there’s so much time wasted being placed on hold. I tried to cancel after my three years with that. It only gets worse. I called in September and they stated that it would only charge me for October. Come November I was charged again stating that I had to fill out something online that was emailed to me. How does this make any sense what I was told that I was only responsible until October? I called back multiple times trying to speak to a supervisor and after the runaround, the supervisor kept on repeating the same thing over and over again stating that I have to fill it out online and the phone call does not count. Definitely seek your security need somewhere else because if you go with Protect America you will have headaches lasting 3 years. If anyone from that company is willing to contact me please do as I have also filed a complaint with the BBB.

Protect America is the WORST company that I have ever dealt with. I would give them '0' or less than zero stars. I am a customer of Protect America for about 1 year. It became apparent that I needed new equipment so the person I talked with said that their new equipment is very easy to install--just 10 minutes and all I had to do was sign their 3-year contract and they'd send the new equipment to me. I signed it and received the equipment. I began the install with one of Protect America's tech guys--however, it took 2 hours (not 10 minutes) and still did not work. I found the equipment to be cheap and difficult to use (sensors would not attach etc.). Finally, the tech said that I would need additional equipment like a 'radio wave box'. At this point, I said that I did not want the equipment & that I am sending it back--Protect America provided me with a printed label. I talked to supervisors and others at Protect America but no one would do anything but suggest sending me more equipment--and all would state the contract cannot be changed. Protect America (which I now call Scam America) continued to harass my husband and me by calling us to pay their monitoring fee for the length of the 3-year contract-- sometimes calling us 3 times a day! They continue to email invoices to me (which they say is for 'monitoring') and now they are threatening to take this matter to collections! I have spoken to supervisors, sent a letter to the corporate office, an email to the CEO ...all to no avail. As stated, they are demanding that I pay for monitoring (which they are not doing) on monthly bases for the full term of the contract namely 3 years. I am very upset with this company and will NEVER do business with them again. I regret having anything to do with them and have already posted a complaint with the FTC. I'm not sure why this company would treat customers this way--it just seems like they do not care. I am happy to offer my negative review and I sincerely hope that this company takes the copious negative reviews as a sign that they should change their business practices...but I do not think they care to do so!! Beware if you are considering using their services!

Later, I called Protect America on 12/07/17 to cancel my service related to budgeting issues. They kindly connected me to someone in customer service to try to retain me as a customer. The deal the lady offered me was a $250 Visa gift card, 4 months free of service, and a decrease in my monthly rate to $34.99 from $45.00. Agreeing to this would start a 36-month contract. I asked her several times what my new monthly rate would be. I was assured it was going to be $34.99. This is the first month that I've been charged since my 4 months of free service is up. I noticed they deducted the $45.00 from my account. I called customer service today. I was treated rudely and was told that the monthly amount looked like it was decreased if I took into account the $250 gift card, and 4 months of free service. I explained that I wouldn't have agreed to that because the point was to decrease or eliminate my monthly bill. I asked them to pull the recorded call.They told me that she never said it would be decreased, which is completely false. That was the basis of the conversation. My email that has the link saved to view my agreement won't open. It tells me that there's an error in the code. After an hour and a half on the phone, I was told that there was nothing they would do to help me.

PROTECT AMERICA, shame on you. If only the company would call me so we can finally close out my account, with no more monthly charges! I am one unhappy customer and the world needs to know about the terrible business practices adopted by Protect America!

Unuseable hardward and software

The system Protectamerica sent to me simply did not function properly in my home, making erroneous calls to law enforcement agencies saying my alarm was activated. Those law enforcement agencies threatened me with fines and prosecution for those calls made in error. When I complained to the company, they sent another defective control with the same problems. I paid $44.95 monthly for 36 months as company held me to the contract. This is one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with.

Feeling Safe

I was hesitant to try this company at first, after reading reviews about it. We have been with Protect America for months now and not one problem. The alarm has been set off numerous times, on accident, verifying the system is working. They were very friendly and helpful when I called to set everything up, as well. They also worked with me on getting all of the equipment that would be the most beneficial for my home. I definitely feel safer and would recommend this company for home security.

Fully confident in my system.

I am fully confident in my system. I have had Protect America for 4-5 years now. Like all electronics, sometimes things fail. I have had a couple of window sensors and 1 motion detector to go bad, but because of the lifetime warranty- they were replaced immediately. I have had a few false alarms due to my kids leaving for school etc. and opening a door before the alarm was disabled and in no time I would receive a call from PA to check on us. I am very happy with PA and would recommend them to any one.

Total home protection in one stop shopping

If you have just been recently broken into or know someone who has, you are now looking for the best way to secure you home or apartment. I trust Protect America as their equipment holds up to the task of time. I have been a customer for over 5 years and have never had a problem. Any time that I needed a question answered, they were extremely helpful and did not presser me into obtaining any additional items or equipment. The agent listened to my needs and offered me options that could meet them within my price range. I shopped other companies and none could offer what I received from Protect America. I have since recommended Protect America to over 10 of my closest friends and family. Several have taken me up on the recommendation and have not been broken into since. I have spoken to several of my neighbors that have other security systems and they have still been broken into because there were gaps in their system. Good luck, I am sure you will make the correct decision for you and your family.

The service that I received from Del Miller was EXCELLENT!

I am truly satisfied with the service and product from Protectamerica. Mr. Miller and his upline were thorough in explaining the product and services. They were also very patient with me in explaining and reexplaining the usage of the product.

I would certainly make a repurchase and refer Protectamerica to friends and family.

Good company, equipment is okay

I have been with protect America for years and I love being with the company. My only challenge with them is the type of equipment that they provide for us for in home monitoring. I get phone false alarms at least twice per year, I get phone calls from them saying my alarm went off when in fact it did not, or my alarm goes off and nothing was out there to trigger the alarm. The cell phone monitoring system is great because I can arm and disarm from my cell phone. Customer service reps are always wonderful to talk to and always helpful.

Awesome Company to work with

The time that I have had with the company has been great always had a great relationship with Protect America. Always called to make sure things was going ok if the alarm was triggered. Thank you for a fantastic service.

Reliable and affordable

I am very happy with the service. Over the years I've been able to build a very nice home security system at little to most of the time no cost. I just upgraded to wireless monitoring which was so greatly discounted it was too good of a deal to refuse. After I did upgrade I realized I actually saved money as there are no phone charges for the wireless connection. When the offer was available, Protect America called me to give me the offer, I wasn't trying to negotiate.
I am more than happy with the service and cost of this product. I wish all my utility companies were this good. I would and have recommend this company to my friends.
