Jo and Emily at Riverside Midwives come highly recommended. Our home birth with our second son went wonderfully, and we got off to a smooth beginning with feeding. Our baby is content and calm, likely thanks to Emily and Jo's support and the positive birth experience.Their approach is both confident and calming. They carefully guided us toward choosing a home birth, which turned out to be perfect for us. Throughout the pregnancy and the delivery, we felt completely secure and would leave nothing unchanged. Great experience with Jean Walker, who released my baby girl’s tongue tie. They responded quickly, came out within 48 hours to my home - was so attentive and helpful. Worth the money, she showed my the exercises to do and helped baby latch again. Although my daughter stopped latching after, but that was just due to bottle preference but she is still thriving on breastmilk (just in a bottle).

Love this team - Marguerite and Remi were kind and wonderful throughout. I didn’t end up having the home water birth I dreamed of due to medical reasons but next time I’m determined to!

I would highly recommend Jo and Emily at riverside midwives. We had a very positive home birth with our second son and have got off to a great start feeding. He is a very happy and settled baby and the support from Emily and Jo, as well as the positive birth (we think) contributed to this.

They have a very confident but relaxed approach. They gently suggested and supported us through a home birth which was the right decision for us in the end. We felt in very safe hands during pregnancy and the birth and wouldn’t have changed anything. Thanks again!

We have an excellent experience with Private Midwives. Our primary midwife, Nash, was exceptional. We didn't have long to get to know each other ahead of the birth, but at our initial appointment I immediately felt at ease in Nash's company and care. She was open, warm and knowledgable and explained the process so that I felt confident and well informed, particularly as this was my first baby. She was happy to answer any questions I had, and continued to keep in touch by phone if anything else came to mind.
When my waters broke a couple of weeks early, and I didn't go into labour for a while after, Nash helped me to navigate my options, particularly when I felt unsure of myself and decisions. Her support at that stage was crucial to us having the birth at home, which we were so keen to have - for this alone, we are so grateful.
Throughout the labour itself, Nash was a steady source of calm reassurance and encouragement, intuitively knowing when to take a step back and when to assist or suggest certain action. I felt completely safe in her care, which I have no doubt contributed to us having a smooth and straight forward labour. Our secondary midwife, Cheryl, was also wonderful - intuitive, gentle and warm. She and Nash complimented each other so well as a team, and I noticed even whilst in labour, how well they listened to each other, feeling comfortable to make suggestions to each other about the best way forward. As a result, I had the most beautiful experience, which is testament to their skill, knowledge and kindness - and humour! If I were to have a second baby, I would feel so lucky to have Nash and Cheryl by my side.

They took our money ~£7000, and went into administration. They clearly knew they were never going to be able to fulfil the services. Left my partner 30 weeks pregnant with no care. The owners should be investigated for fraud:

I got in contact with Private Midwives early on in my pregnancy expressing in an interest in using their services. From the start they were incredibly helpful - letting me defer the start of the package for a few weeks until I was out of the first trimester, letting me spread the cost of their services over a longer period, and answering all my questions (which were greatly reduced by their amazing informative website). The free resources on their website alone are worth the cost of a birthing course, nonetheless the care you get from their amazing midwives. We were lucky enough to get Corrine, who was absolutely brilliant throughout our pregnancy, our unexpected breech, and then our emergency c-section (completely unrelated to any of the care recieved). Corrine supported us and lifted us up in all the times no one else could, and facilitated the entire magic of our pregnancy. Special mentions need to go out as well to Jo, Linda and Pat who I communicated with over the entire journey as well and made sure everything went smoothly. Thank you again - our little miracle would not be here without you.

I’ve been with Private Midwives twice now, with different midwives each time, and they’ve been so absolutely wonderful. I felt completely heard and supported throughout the entire journey. I felt so safe during the actual birth.
I think the most invaluable part was the absence of “reliving” after the births. After my first birth, emergency c section in a hospital, I spent months going over everything again in my head.
After my home births with Private Midwives, I had all that mental energy to myself to focus on my family and new baby. It’s a completely priceless gift.
They’ve been so professional, I felt I could trust them completely.

We had a great experience with Private Midwives. Emma Lawless went above and beyond for us and our baby during labour, staying at the hospital and being wonderful moral support. The most helpful aspect of our experience was the practical advice she gave just before and after baby’s arrival, both in person and over text. She was always quick to reply and gave us far more useful information than we had with the NHS support alone. I would highly recommend Emma as a private midwife.

This was my second time having Ann Bargh as my midwife and I can’t say enough good things about her and private midwives. The service provided is excellent, everyone is so friendly and easy to deal with.
Ann is an exceptional midwife and I looked forward to her visits every week. She is a wealth of knowledge; cool and calm and knows exactly how to encourage you during pregnancy/labour/postpartum.
Having postnatal checks in your own home and the ability to have a tongue tie assessment done are extra perks to also having your baby at home.
The only negative is that the visits have to come to an end!

We decided to book a private midwife due to local NHS maternity services being rated as 'needs improvement', which is worrying as a first time parent. We also wanted the continuity of support, and more time for appointments in the comfort of home, where we can ask questions and take our time.

We chose to go with Amie Elliott and she was brilliant from the offset. Appointments with her felt like chatting with a friend, she never pushed any decision on us, but simply presented the evidence and good practice recommendations then supported us to make our own choices. She is so knowledgeable on all things birth and babies, it really helped offer reassurance and enabled me to enjoy my pregnancy, as I knew Amie was only a message away.

Nothing was ever too much trouble, no question was too silly(!) and Amie would always respond to WhatsApp messages with detailed and helpful responses, often linking to research or information on whatever my question was about.

Working with Amie was such an empowering experience, and although we didn't get the physiological birth we wanted, it was still an overall positive experience as Amie - along with the NHS midwives - supported me beautifully and ensured a calm and respectful environment where my wishes were listened to and supported.

I cannot recommend Amie enough. She is not only a brilliant midwife, she is a lovely person, and you will be so well cared for. Thank you Amie, and Private Midwives! :) :) :)

From the point of first calling private midwives to them doing the procedure on my grandsons tong at home was first class service. The midwife that came to do it was so lovely, I would definitely recommend this company.

Out of the many medical practitioners my partner and I have visited in the last year, Eleanor stood out for all the right reasons. Within seconds of meeting it was clear we had found a skilled and reputable midwife, within minutes it was evident Eleanor had not only reviewed my partner and son’s medical files but also memorised them. I felt that as a professional she more than adequately gave us a reassuring service, handled our son considerately and kindly, carried out the procedure with experience and finally offered access to excellent aftercare should the need for it arise. I am glad to say it hasn’t. We would highly and gladly recommend Eleanor should you or your child need assistance with a tongue tie related issue.

We decided to use Private Midwives after some disappointing experiences with the NHS unrelated to pregnancy. Amie was fantastic from start to finish providing us continuity of care before, during and after the birth.

While the NHS is filled with some great people seeing a different person for each appointment led to some anxiety about what exactly was going on. Amie was really supportive and able to translate what was going on at each stage while advocating for us.

Before the birth Amie spent a lot of time getting to know us and understanding exactly what we wanted and advocating for us to ensure the birth plan matched what was possible as closely as possible.

Amie was present at the caesarean and was a great source of support. She was really warm and friendly and worked well with the NHS staff giving us that extra level of support.

After the birth Amie supported us in the hospital and at home. We had some challenges with feeding due to an undiagnosed tongue tie. This was missed by the staff at the hospital but caught by Amie who got us extra support through Gemma. Gemma was fantastic, talked us through the options and was able to cure our daughters tongue tie then and there.

Alongside Amie we also had support from Hannah while Amie took a much needed break. The handover was flawless and we found Hannah every bit as warm and supportive as Amie.

We couldn't recommend Private midwives enough and wouldn't consider another child without them.

Where do I begin, my midwife Emma was truly amazing. The genuine love and support I felt from her was overwhelming, from the little complements to the positive affirmation prior to giving birth I didn’t realise how much I needed it. From the moment I met Emma she made me feel comfortable and safe, and built a strong foundation of trust which was very important to me, and she made it very easy to trust her. With Emma I felt heard and she took everything all my requests on board and accommodated me the best she could which I am very thankful for. During my delivery when I was pushing my baby out her instructions were so clear and easy to understand and do regardless of the pain I was in and all the emotions I was feeling, I was able to her voice and listen, which helped me not to tear which I’m happy about. Furthermore, the after care was amazing too she was just a phone call away and was always responsive and supportive, she was always there when I needed her or had any questions. We have gone from strangers to someone who I want in my life and to deliver all my babies. Also me second midwife Sabine was great too although i only got to meet her during the end of my pregnancy and my postpartum care she was lovely too, helpful and supportive.
Not to mention they were both very patient and loving towards my curious toddler, who was getting into all their things, which I appreciate. Overall, I had an excellent experience with private midwives and would definitely recommend.

I contacted Private Midwives when my daughter was 2 days old, as fortunately I recognised the signs of tongue tie and a midwife had confirmed a posterior tongue tie. Firstly, Jo who booked everything was so lovely and took the time to phone me twice to make sure I could secure a next day appointment.

We had Heather and she put me at ease straight away. Heather is so lovely and knowledgeable, taking time to explain everything (all while a chatty 4 year old played in the room). As well as doing the division and showing us exercises, Heather gave invaluable feeding advice. Thank you a million times over.

Big thank you to Amie Elliot for all her support during my wife's pregnancy, making sure we were always well informed and supporting my wife with her choices throughout pregnancy and the birth. You went above and beyond especially supporting with any appointments that were needed at the hospital and the anxiety this caused, either by calling ahead and explaining her needs or by attending with us on the day.

During our planned home birth my wife made the decision to transfer to the hospital - when we did you were with us all the way, advocating for her when she needed it most.

Thanks so much as well to Alison Brown who supported Amie as our backup midwife, and Sally Goodwin who sorted out our son's tongue tie avoiding a 6 week wait to have the procedure done at the hospital.

I received the best care! My midwife was always there for me providing me with continuous support throughout pregnancy, delivery and postpartum. Couldn’t be more grateful! Highly recommended!
