I've ridden with the salisbury plain stig.

The reason I keep coming back to Phoenix is the top level of teaching, quality and value.

I have done everything from CBT to DAS, advanced rider days and two trail riding days.

Every instructor is highly experienced and knows how to share their knowledge. Lessons are done in very small groups (1 : 2) so its very personal and easy to ask questions.
I like that the training gets tailored on the day to fit what the students need so we can improve on our weaknesses.

All the gear supplied and the bikes are in great condition. The value you get is well worth it, if not for learning, then just a fun day riding around green lanes.

A great day! We had very good and patient tuition from the ‘Salisbury Stig’ -I haven’t even had my bike licence that long, so if you’re also new to trail riding I can promise you’ll have fun and learn loads. The location is stunning, so anyone would enjoy the terrain, views and challenges! Highly recommended.

Although having had my full licence since 1991, I am a total newb when it comes to off road! Having just bought my first ADV bike I decided to get some expert tuition on a smaller machine before I do myself a proper mischief taking my larger bike off road!! I'm very fortunate living just a few miles away from the centre at Codford, Wiltshire and it was very easy to find! Stig (The Leg-end) was very engaging, affable and patient with myself and the other participant and lots was learnt on the very full day! We had a glorious day pootling across Salisbury Plain with lunch thrown in! The Honda CRF300's are a perfect training bike, small enough but with enough power to haul even my 100+kg frame around! I had an absolutely fantastic day and many thanks to Stig and Phoenix! Certainly worth every penny and I will probably be returning in the not too distant future! Highly recommended!

Superb trail riding course, great instructor and very helpful customer service over the phone. The practical knowledge and feedback I got was invaluable.
Would highly recommend to anyone who wants to get into trails or adventure riding.

I was lucky enough to receive one-to-one instruction from Justin (the Salisbury Plain Stig!). With very little off-road experience this was effectively a standing start for me, but Justin was very adept at pacing the instruction to keep me learning and consolidating new skills while keeping my confidence up; he has a natural and effective teaching style.

From flat grass exercises to establish core body position and bike handling technique, we progressed onto Salisbury Plain (the first byway begins pretty much at the yard). The day was really well paced to challenge me while remaining fun and friendly throughout, all while dodging the occasional armoured vehicle, helicopter or artillery system. Almost the whole route was off-road on a variety of terrain.

The Codford fleet of CRF300Ls is fresh and well maintained, and the kit is good. Lunch at the Larkhill cafe was also great (and a welcome rest stop, you'll be aching if you haven't done this before!)

Justin also has a great deal of really useful knowledge about all things trail riding, from what kit to wear, what makes a good trail bike, how to safely and courteously share the lanes and how to choose/navigate a route safely and efficiently, and much more.

I had a great day out, was put at ease from the start and learned a huge amount; I'd happily ride trails with friends now, confident that I have the mindset and a solid foundation of skills to tackle the UK's green lanes (at my own pace).

I'd thoroughly recommend this training for anyone interested in getting involved on trail/off-road riding.

We had a great day with almost one2one instruction from Justin at the Salisbury Plain Trail Riding venue. New Honda bikes were great. Justin made it a really good day tailored to our ability and age (70years +!) No need to be apprehensive, we took it at our own pace.

I had the best time on my level 2 Trail Riding on Salisbury Plain with Justin. He was an excellent guide and instructor, providing a great balance of hints, tips and encouragement to push ourselves and have fun. I couldn’t recommend this experience more highly!

I had a blast with SP Stig on the CRF300L, i am a newbie and really struggling i did appreciate the patience and the expertise i got from this school. At the end of the day i had much more confidence in riding on trails thanks guys

It was a fantastic first off-road experience. Was great to start on the private track and get back on again at the end to see how much I had improved in just one day.

I’ve been into green laning / trails for a while but don’t do it regularly enough to proper improve. That is until do.

A second session with Justin at Salisbury Phoenix yesterday, this time doing a level 2 trail day. Clear instruction, useful feedback and a great area to explore which the instructor knows like the back of his hand, meaning he can tailor the day and selected trails to weather, ability etc. Good kit and bikes, another tasty lunch(!), and really builds confidence through the day. No pressure to go beyond your ability, comfort, speed etc which really helps as well when learning technique. Will definitely be coming back again.

Had a great you with Justin. He is very friendly and positive. After a briefing on how the will progress, an introduction to the bike, tips on mounting/ dismounting and riding position, it of to a nearby field to practice and get used to the bike.
From there we set out onto some of Salisbury Plains trails. Starting off relatively easy and increasing in difficulty. Some great advice given along the way, Justin is extremely experienced and relaxed.
All in all a great experience with some very useful skills learned.
If you are new to off roading and thinking of taking to the trails then I can’t recommend this course enough.
It has boosted my confidence and skills level. I am now going to look into buying my first off road bike and will probably book another course with Phoenix training before I take to the trails.

I had a 1:1 day with The Salisbury Plain Stig yesterday and it was brilliant. It was great fun, whilst being challenging. The instruction was first class. As a bonus the lunch was lovely too. The morning after I am aching in places I didn't even know I had muscles but I am already planning me next course!

Beginner level 1 course;

Excellent instructions and experience (professionally conveyed), much needed for developing off-road skills and techniques.

The instructors also ensured that everyone was enjoying themselves on a very fun day.

Overall a valuable experience for anyone wishing to develop off-road abilities.

I had the pleasure of visiting Phoenix Motorcycle Training yesterday, for a Trail Riding Level 1 course, using my own Bike (Voge Rally 300).
This is a great location, close to the Salisbury plains, and I had the best day of riding off-road.
The instructor Justin, aka the SP Stig (on Facebook) and trusty back-marker Dave, were both excellent and I felt very well looked after, even to the point where Justin kindly helped set my bike up for me, by adjusting the position of my gear lever and handlebars.
It's clear that Justin has a great many skills and expansive knowledge of the Salisbury Plains, coupled with patience and a great sense of humour, making the training rewarding and fun too.
The guys built in plenty of rest stops, comfort breaks and photo opportunities. They bought us a delicious lunch at the Larkview cafe, where it was a pleasure sitting around chatting with Justin, Dave and my fellow riders.

Great day riding over Salisbury plain. Instructors were knowledgeable, patient and good fun. The equipment was well maintained and the whole day was excellent.

Fantastic trail riding training day over Salisbury Plain!! Even how to mount and dismount and basically formed my entire knowledge of off road riding. Justin somehow took account of my fatigue towards the end, without impacting the other two in the group. Heavy hinting will be applied when my children (who are horrified, so it's worth it!) ask what I want for my 80th this year. I want to do it again, this time on my own CRF250L. (Ps. Don't trust google maps to get you to Codford, what3words is the best)

A really good day out, I was lucky enough to have a one on one days training with Justin.
Just over an hour learning basic skills in the field next to the office, then out along the road for a short distance.
We were soon up on Salisbury plains riding trails just as promised, fabulous views In every direction, with wildlife all around.
A break for lunch, then more trails. As someone who is maybe older than average I was concerned, but Justin put me at ease straight away.
I will definitely do it again.
