Didnt read the small print so have paid a lot of money for callout and then a tow to my garage. Silly me. Fortunately the policy so ends next month; I won't be renewing.
Zero stars was not an option.
I took out a gadget insurance policy with PEX (Nova-Direct) to cover my Iphone X.
My house was burgled whilst I was at work. My phone along with other belongings (ipad, tv, play station, laptops) were stolen, including the keys to my car and my car. NB I am only claiming on my Iphone being stolen by PEX. My contents insurance did not cover my Iphone.
I reported this to the police and have been a victim of burglary with an official crime number however PEX refused my claim because I did not supply evidence from the repairer who "fixed my door".
The fact is I did not have someone come and fix my door, I repaired it myself and the act of breaking in was done by a skilled burglar that left little obvious sign of forced entry.
My car insurance policy provider found no issue with the way in which I was burgled (they stole my keys from my house and stole my car). So why should PEX not pay out my policy when this is the same situation?
I will be contesting this for as long as possible and will be taking this to the Financial Ombudsmen Service.

Wish I'd read the reviews before purchasing.
Broke down on side of busy motorway at 7am and was left deeply distraught by my experience with PEX. I purchased the highest level of cover with PEX thinking that meant I was covered in all scenarios. Phoned for breakdown assistance waited 20 minutes for someone to answer and spoke to a jobsworth called Sam who told me as my engine could turn on my "claim had been denied and they will send a letter to confirm". Very condescending and could hear how distraught I was at being stuck and a danger to other cars on the road but Sam kept repeating that I should read the terms and conditions. I asked to speak to someone else and was told they would not start until 9am and I would need to phone back as they could not call me. I asked to raise a complaint, which you can do verbally, but Sam said I would need to phone the complaints team and refused to acknowledge. Complete farce of a company. Not received any correspondence about being "denied" or complaint acknowledgment. Sam confirmed they record the calls but refused to pass to a supervisor or give surname for complaint. Awful experience. Wish I'd saved my money and not sure how this company is allowed to operate and continue to call itself a breakdown company.

The staff in the office were very good and very considerate. The recovery engineer was truly horrible, rude and uncompassionate.
He was very unhelpful and would not hope him to assist anybody.

ABSOLUTE WORST INSURANCE COMPANY EVER! THEY WANT YOUR FULL LIFE HISTORY WHEN MAKING A CLAIM AND EXPECT YOU TO DO ALL THE RUNNING AROUND GETTING QUOTES FOR DAMAGE.
THEN WHEN THEY DO AGREE A PAYOUT THEY OFFER YOU A SETTLEMENT BASED ON A NOT LIKE FOR LIKE ITEM WHICH IS ON OFFER. DESPITE TELLING YOU WHERE THE OFFER IS FROM.
IF YOU CALL THEM THEY CAN HARDLY SPEAK ENGLISH AND CAN NOT PUT YOU THROUGH TO A CLAIMS DEPARTMENT ALWAYS MAKING EXCUSES.
ONCE YOU DO ACCEPT THE SETTLEMENT AMOUNT EXPECT TO WAIT AT LEAST 1 MONTH FOR PAYMENT EVEN AFTER MAKING SEVERAL CALLS AND EMAILS TO CHASE IT UP.
I WILL BE MAKING A COMPLAINT VIA THE OMBUDSMAN AND HOPEFULLY GET THIS CORRUPT COMPANY KICKED INTO SHAPE!

Cheapest prices for Annual cover
Recently got a flat tyre whilst out shopping. Phoned PEX / Eversure and they sent for a recovery vehicle. It did take quite a while (approx 90 minutes from Coventry back to Walsall) but service was very good.
As the emergency callout was FREE it saved any hassle of friends, family or garages helping out.
Would recommend and will be renewing next year just in case of another emergency.

The Insurance policy only covers breakdown if the vehicle is immobile, so stopping the vehicle to avoid blowing up the engine doesn’t count. They Refused to help me and I had to pay for another breakdown recovery service at a cost of £85. The policy has no value and is a complete waste of money! AVOID THIS COMPANY!!!

My wife took out silver insurance breakdown policy via Eversure with Pex Insure. When driving off the car it made very heavy metallic banging noises under the passenger front wheel. When contacting Pex they stated that they could not recover the vehicle as the engine was running and the wheels where still turning therefore the car was not immobile and my wife was not therefore covered by the policy. I argued that the car was certainly immobile as it was too dangerous to possibly drive but the claims handler basically said their hands were tied and "Computer said No". He had no power or authority to override in the circumstances and no method of escalation for me to appeal. I asked to speak to a supervisor, and they said they were the supervisor. He suggested I refer my complaint back to Eversure the broker. I did this and they have stated in writing whilst they sympathise with my situation that my complaint is not their issue and should be referred back to Pex as they are the insurer. It was a nightmare experience and clearly the Broker is trying to blame the Insurer and vis versa.
Pex suggested upgrading to their platinum policy for £100. I had the vehicle recovered privately and the issue was a broken suspension. The garage advised me that the car was certainly dangerous to drive and if I had, it would have caused more damage to the vehicle. Basically, this policy from Pex is not worth the paper it is written on. It certainly was not made clear in the headline sales information although I am sure it was written into the small print. Whoever heard of a breakdown policy that does not cover genuine breakdown. I cannot refute the wording in the policy but it is completely black and white with Pex. Therefore, the fact that the car was not completely immobile yet completely unroadworthy and dangerous to drive did not matter to Pex. The claims handler was simply not interested in the facts and just kept referring to the Computer “outcome”. Surely there has to be a degree of latitude as to the word “immobile” but not with Pex.
I certainly will stay clear of Pex Insure in the future. They were completely unhelpful, wanted to charge me more money and tried to just palm me off onto someone else to complain to. – A nightmare
Boiler cover that does not cover the boiler. They (once they actually understand you) come up with all sorts of reasons to refuse payment. I write this off as a bad mistake that cost me £115, plus the 40 I actually had to pay to get the boiler repaired. I wouldn't waste your time, as when you actually need it you'll be let down.
As for the ridiculous response from PEX - I can assure you the policy document referred the 'boiler cover with annual maintenance'. I'm no genius but it pretty much says what it is.

Having bought silver cover from eversure, I had a puncture. The terms of my policy said I needed a spare wheel or emergency puncture kit. I had an emergency puncture kit and the operator advised me on how to use it. Wheel the wheel initially started to inflate, the foam then started to come out the puncture site leaving the tyre flat again. I spoke to PEX who said I was not covered as I did not have a spare wheel. I said I had abided with the terms of the policy but they refused to help leaving me stranded. Their only interest was in trying go up sell platinum insurance at over £100 which would then enable them to help me. Absolutely shocking company.
In February my car wouldn’t start and I called Pex Insure. The operator gave me TWO options. Either roadside assistance OR recovery to the nearest garage. I asked how was I supposed to know which service I needed as I’m not a mechanic. Under pressure, I chose the first option. A guy came out and jump started my car. He said the battery was dead. He told me to drive it around for 2 hours, which is what I did. However, the next morning the car wouldn’t start and I called Pex Insure again. They refused to send someone out saying I would have to pay £100 or would have to wait 28 days before I could use the service again. I argued that no where on the policy does it say that I have 2 options to choose from. I was stranded in London for two days and had to call out the AA to rescue me. I ended up taking out an AA policy. No way will I recommend Pex Insure as a breakdown policy. They charge a small premium then catch you out saying choose one of two options of help then say if the first option doesn’t work, they will charge me £100 for recovery! I’m not a mechanic! How am I supposed to know which option to choose? Furthermore, on my initial contact, I asked the operator if she was in this country as I could hardly hear her, nor understand what she was saying! On the the second call out, I asked the operator to read out to me whereabouts on the policy it states one is only allowed to choose ONE of two options of help. Also, nowhere on the policy is a £100 charge mentioned. And she put the phone down on me! DO NOT TOUCH PEX INSURE with a barge pole! I am taking my complaint to the ombudsman. Read the complaints on their Facebook page. It’s shocking that a breakdown company can sell policies to the consumer that don’t provide the service one has paid for!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. So I broke down, and was transferred to a South African? call centre on a terribly distorted line which made legibly communicating almost impossible. I was told that as my engine still worked (the car was losing oil rapidly all over the road) I had NOT BROKEN DOWN!
It took 40 mins to tell them a car with no oil in it's engine is dangerous to drive, for me and other road users, and that the engine would be damaged, and that it was dangerous for me to drive it on a fast A-road.
Eventually I was told I could have someone come out and examine my car to get it working again and that I would get 20 mins of examination, OR have it towed if it did not work but NOT both. I had to choose one or the other.

The operative badgered me to start my engine again (or no one would come out) and try to drive, eventually I gave in and did so, at which point my engine seized and had to be scrapped.
I am about to take them to a small claims court.
Staff at Pex Insure are very helpful in arranging for breakdown service. I found it very assuring that they keep in contact until
the engineer arrives.

My car broke down last Friday morning on the way to work. I called Pex insure and after lots and lots of questions of which i couldn't understand the guys accent then to be told that I wasn't eligible for a call out. Fuming !!!!
I explained that I had heard a loud snapping noise under my feet and didn't want to risk driving the car further as I thought it might catch fire or blowup or do terrible damage to the car by continuing to drive it.
I'm not a mechanic !! This is why we have breakdown insurance. And I paid for Silver cover, which includes home start, onward journey, to be towed to a garage if they can't fix at the roadside etc and a courtesy car.
I had to pay to get it towed to my mechanic. He told me the front suspension spring had broken taking with it a large part of the housing. And said if I continued to drive it the unit would of fallen down and gone through the tyre.
If I had insured with a well known breakdown recovery I'm sure they would of come out to me.
I'm absolutely disgusted with Pex insure and won't be reinsuring with them again.
And i had to pay for a hire car.

The first time I used the service, it was pretty bad - very poor communication, no information.
The second time they were much better - they contacted me with regular updates.
