I made a bespoke order for architrave to match the existing fittings in my period home. I received prompt replies to orders and queries, the order arrived within given timescales and I now have a quality product that exceeded my expectations. I cannot fault the quality of the timber, the replication or the finish, all were excellent and I shall use this company for all my bespoke timber work in the future. The only niggle is that the company tend not to be proactive by e.g. sending out updates or anticipating customer queries (hence 4 stars rather than five), but they are very responsive and very skilled craftsmen.

Just taken delivery of Leyton Georgian architrave.
The machining and finish is superb. All delivered earlier than expected . Top notch company. I highly recommend.

AVOID.

I bought just under £500 worth of mouldings from them in late 2018 and had to raise a chargeback with my credit card to resolve the issue two months later.

My experience included delayed delivery times, lack of communication from Period Mouldings and the delivery company, and when the delivery company did finally show up, it was only a partial delivery and - the best part - the part they did deliver was wrong: it was unprimed even though we ordered primed.

I would not recommend periodmouldings.co.uk to anyone.

Pricing on website is not up front. When you get to checkout, VAT is added on, delivery is extortionate, and lead time is at least a fortnight. Should look to their competitors with regards to being up front about these costs and lead time on product pages.

This company is the best, I have recently ordered some skirting from them and unfortunately when it had arrived, the skirting was not primed as was originally requested.

It took one phone call, the person who I spoke with dealt with the matter immediately and professionally.
Within two days, I got the skirting delivered, mind you I am based in london and they are up north.

Mistakes happen, but its how a company assures you and resolves the issue that matters the most.

The quality of the wood products and the range they have, its exceptional. We will be using them again on our next house move.

Poor quality stock. Our joiner had a terrible time trying to match skirting and architrave, over 50% of our order was warped or had twisted. customer service dont answer phone. ridiculous turnaround later suggested for new items (you have to pay for the return of any damaged items) once contact was made.
I fully understand now why there is no review link on their website after reading trustpilot reviews will not be buying from them again.

called up to discuss purchasing a large amount of skirting and was informed they were currently very busy due to covid- looked again the day after and price has gone up 4 pound per metre! decided to shop elsewhere, what a shame as their products looked great

My client purchased from here for me to fit in a renovation they were having done. 30 years as a professional joiner and in all that time I have never seen such poor quality skirting as received from Period Mouldings. Inadequate and poor packaging/shipping resulted in damaged board ends, clearly they'd got wet at some point too.
A lot of extra time was needed to fit and rework to bring up to a presentable finished standard.
One to avoid in my humble opinion, I've seen better quality out of B&Q!

Ordered picture rails and architrave. Lovely patterns in good quality pine. However, picture rails arrived damaged at ends due to improper packaging. Architrave also arrived wet and warped as a result of being in the back of a DX delivery van that had been transporting water (guess what, the container burst). Order arrived incomplete. Contacted customer service, which to be fair was very responsive. They immediately replied and said they would send out two replacement lengths or picture rails, one to replace the damaged length and another to complete my order. These lengths arrived fine but were shorter than the ones I’d originally ordered.

If you aren’t going to paint your architrave or picture rails, might be worth requesting PM don’t use a thick black marker to mark the wood for where they cut the lengths - this is very visible and will only be covered by paint or a very dark stain.

It’s a real shame that wood that is ultimately very nice is improperly packaged and transported. I paid £50 for delivery, which is a joke considering the service I received from DX.

Untrustworthy

Having cancelled an order - immediately after placing it due to unexpected lead time - the company informed me they could only send refunds by cheque. They sent a cheque, spelling my name incorrectly, then informed me they would balance transfer. Two weeks later this has still not happened. Do not use.

I bought skirting, architrave and picture rails from them. The lead times were good and it is a good quality of product backed up by responsive customer service.

When an item was damaged in transit it was replaced immediately with no fuss.

I would recommend them.

Took over a month to deliver after a number of chasers and it turned out that they took the money and did not make the order, delivered to the wrong address, delivery was 50% damaged and over a month and a half later did not return the money and ignoring requests for a refund. Shambles, do not use!
