Awful company
Awful company. They never showed up in their window, without giving me any notification that they were unable to come. I had delayed a trip just in order to be available in their alleged window - all for nothing. Avoid them. you're better off hiring a local handyman, or literally anyone else. They clearly give customer service a zero priority.
WORST SERVICE EVER
WORST SERVICE EVER.
i called them as i was having issues installing my nest doorbell. I am quite handy, but the bell was not ringing. thats why i spent the 150$. He comes in does the same basic insrtall that I know how to, and says the bell not wroking is not their problem.
Worst service NEVER USE
Worst service NEVER USE. So the guy came out, installed a NEW NEST camera and half did it. It doesn't work at night at all. When I called Ontech they said it was the nest. It wasn't. Their installer didn't complete the installation per NEST.
SimplySafe installation
SimplySafe installation. Had system installed for approximately $300.00. I then had to purchase 7 additional sensors and put driveway camera up approx 12 inches.I called Ontech and they quoted me almost 200.00 for this minor project. I consider that this is not fair. Where is customer satisfaction????
On-tech smart services is a SCAM!
The third party company ontech lacks the skills to provide the services. I recently ordered a diagnostic for a ring device, the on-tech technician came and asked me a few questions and said there is nothing he can do to fix the issue and just left. When i called ring customer support they said that the technician should have contacted them to resolve the issue. Not only on-tech did not provide the service that i paid for, their agents gave me false information and they denied to refund my money. On-tech smart services is a scam and their technicians lack the basic skills.
Poor installation work. Poor customer service
Ring sells very good products, but sends third party companies (On Tech) to install them, with poor safety skills. Unknown of course to me, the customer, until after the 60 day installation warrant expired. No accountability by either company. Disappointing.
The tech plugged 2 outdoor cameras at my house into outdoor outlets that are not meant for permanent installations, open to humidity, moisture, water, dust etc. Of course I trusted their judgement, even after I asked if using a low level visible outlet was appropriate. Their answer? "Well if someone is going to tamper with it they would already be seen by the cameras before reaching it" How about if they cover their head or wear a costume? Then what? They were clearly too lazy to drill holes in the wall to run the cord to a safe indoor connection as they did for another camera. And to justify their action with a cheap excuse that puts my family in potential danger for vandalism, theft, not to mention fire!
This problem has been brought to my attention by workmen I hired for other purposes, who just see that set-up and ask "Who installed these cameras? It was not done right" which caused me over time to believe this must really be a problem.
So I now swallow the cost of getting both cameras properly re-installed. Ring deferred to OnTech, and On Tech was happy to say "you're outside of warranty" Lesson learned? You have to fact check everything down to the very installation of your product, within 60 days. Maybe I needed to take a course in proper camer installation. Don't trust anyone, as there is no accountability. They are probably still creating installation hazzards in peoples' homes, unknown to the unsuspecting owners.
I had an appointment with OnTech today…
I had an appointment with OnTech today between 10-12. That was updated via email to be 9:45-11am. It’s now 12:50 pm and having called 3x i still have no tech and now being told he will not be coming today because my appointment was changed to another day!
This company seeemingly cannot REACH their own associates to check their whereabouts or explain their delay. Very poor impression of this service company.
Very poor service from the on-site…
Very poor service from the on-site technician and almost as bad service from the customer service lady.
Caveat Emptor (let the buyer…
Caveat Emptor (let the buyer beware)!!!!!!! This company's service is absolutely abhorrent. We had On Tech install a surround sound system, a security system, and an Internet boosting system called Nest. When we called customer service at On Tech, we were told that they do not warranty the sound system, or the Nest system. One of the surround sound-speakers is blown and not working. This was 35 DAYS after the installation. They said they do not warranty these parts. They said WE have to take care of calling the manufacturer to deal with this issue. The Nest system turned out to be incompatible with our AT&T Wi-Fi. We were told that WE had to call Nest To have their units returned. This company is very happy to come out do their installation stuff and then take your money. Subsequent to that, they will not stand by their installation or the products that they install whatsoever. If you're thinking about using this On Tech I would absolutely find another company to do the work!!!!!!!
I would give "negative" 5 stars
If I could I would give a "negative" 5 star review. OnTech are full blown scammers. I paid upfront for a Ring Doorbell Camera installation. The appointment calendar they have all charge $20 to make an appointment and then an upfront cost also in full for the service (Note: All before even arriving). They do not communicate with the customer regarding where and how the customer requires the Ring Camera to be positioned. In my case the only communication I received was a text stating the Technician would arrive in 45 minutes.
So when he arrives he asks about my Ring unit and I tell him I purchased a hardwired product which needs power to a 16volt Transformer and then the 16 volt wiring goes to the Ring Camera unit. He then proceeds to tell me I should send it back and get a battery powered unit. Explained I did not want that option. He then says he can connect to my existing trigger Doorbell by my front door. I showed him there is an Italian post that would severely restrict the view I am want to monitor. He acknowledges that but continues to try and con me to just mount it where it would be of not much use due to only picking up about 50% of what I needed to be monitoring. Long story short he canceled saying he could not do the installation.and he also does not have the tools. OnTech refuses to refund me the appointment fee "even tho their Technician canceled
They should absorb the cost due to their Technicians inability to do my install. BUYER BEWARE: DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE CHEATING UNETHICAL CROOKS. Find a professional company to take your business and hard earned cash.

Horrible
Horrible. Waited nearly an entire day for appointment for an install, just for it to be delayed numerous hours. Called for rescheduling and customer service was horrendous. Will not be rengaging.
DO NOT use this company
DO NOT use this company! After waiting 3 hours, tech did not show up. Rescheduled. Tech came but placed order incorrectly so on third visit job (new tech) could not be done. At that point we cancelled the order (security system install). Paid $1100 in advance (do not do this!!!) and have tried several times to get a refund. They've given one excuse after another. Still waiting. BBB shows several complaints. The whole thing has been a time-consuming, frustrating, waste of time.
I highly recommend - Great Experience
I live in the Denver area and I had a very respectful tech (named Whit) call me when he was leaving to head my way and he arrived on time. He mentioned that he could not take any calls while driving due to company policy.... that tells me this company values the safety of its employees. After Whit arrived, he resolved my problem, and I was very happy with his thoughtfulness and professionalism.
Power Connector and Thermostat "Installation"
I paid for a thermostat and power connector plus installation. After the installation, the technician mentions I will continue to get ""low power" for a few months. 7 months pass and my thermostat continues to say "low power" and customer service tells me it will be another $150 for a diagnosis and a TBD installation/repair cost. I declined to pay 2x for the same "installation"
Stay away!
This company is scammers
This company is scammers, I placed an order online, they sent a dusty and defective product, I returned it and after intense complaints they decided that they would not give the full refund, the product was never opened and was sent just as I received it, they are scammers.
Customer Beware
Customer beware. Unlike many install/service companies, this company charges you 100% of the fees well before they even come to your home.
Therefore, the customer is at a disadvantage if work is not performed or done satisfactorily. Seniors are at a particular disadvantage because they may not know about fair and reasonable practices, let alone about the technical nuances of the product they need installed….let alone being able to express these concerns when multiple problems occur.
My complaint involves two failed installations (same initial contract) as follows:
1. OnTech charged me for contracted work not satisfactorily completed regarding the installation of a NEST Hello camera. After the tech worked for about two hours, they could not get it to ring my house chime (or even my phone). Therefore, if a visitor tried to ring my doorbell, there was simply no audible sound inside my house (or on my phone) that someone was at my front door.
In general, the OnTech technician didn't seem knowledgeable about the NEST Hello camera as they spent a long time trying to get it linked to my phone. In fact, it was only successfully linked after I suggested to the tech that they try using the NEST app instead of the Google app. Although that did work, they still couldn't get the chime to work, and they simply gave up.
Therefore, reconnecting the Ring doorbell camera (which they previously disconnected), was my only solution. I bought the NEST Hello camera to replace the Ring camera only because I had other NEST cameras in my house and wanted all of them on the same application and account.
When I asked the technician to reconnect my old working Ring camera (3-5 min process), the technician told me that my refund would be facilitated by signing added paperwork.
However, instead of OnTech refunding me $114.99 for the unsuccessful NEST camera install, they billed me that same amount for reconnecting my old Ring doorbell camera.
If anyone pays a company for installing something and that install fails, they should not charge you for putting back the original item that was working fine. OnTech disagreed and refused to credit me for this charge.
2. The second install failure regards OnTech attempting to install a new doorbell transformer. Another tech came to install the new transformer, and it became apparent that they didn’t have the skills to do this.
The previous doorbell transformer was installed by an electrician and was securely mounted to the electrical box.
The OnTech technician connected the new transformer but forgot to first take off the mounting nut. Therefore the new transformer’s wires were connected but the transformer could not be mounted to the electrical box and was left dangling by its wires (a potential fire hazard).
Also, during the process, this technician didn’t seem to understand how “wire nuts” work and struggled for a long time to connect the wires and lost track of where some wires were connected. Ultimately the new transformer did not work, and I was told to hire an electrician.
OnTech said that I would be refunded $29.99 for this failed install, but this never happened.
The total requested adjustment came to $144.98 (including the fee for the NEST Hello).
OnTech refused to adjust anything. I requested to speak with a manager, but they never contacted me.
In conclusion:
I’m not saying that this company is 100% bad. They did successfully install a NEST Outdoor camera….quickly and efficiently. This person was the first technician to come to my house and seemed very knowledgeable; the other two were possibly newbies and lacked experience.
However, my main peeve, is that the company should just abide by fair business practices. If a company can’t do the job correctly, they should simply refund the customer. The fact that they not only didn’t do this but “justified” this action by charging a customer for 3-5 minutes of time to put things back where they found them, seems unethical. The fact that the tech asked the customer (a senior) to sign added paperwork to facilitate the refund which was later refused because of one of these documents, seems very unethical.
I filed a complaint with the BBB
LIARS!
I purchased 4 indoor and 4 outdoor Ring cams and was pleased to be told that installation would happen within 3 days. I received emails confirming “your installation appointment is tomorrow” and “your tech is on the way”. No one showed up. I called OnTech’s customer service number and was told that the tech showed up, rang the doorbell and left because no one answered. I arranged to work from home today to be here so that was an outright LIE. Customer service said that they didn’t receive the wired outdoor cameras and that’s why no one came out. Huh? I thought someone did but allegedly no one answered the door. What is the truth? Then they said they were trying to get battery powered outdoor cameras for me. I said that’s not what I bought. What a lousy company to deal with. Unfortunately I have no choice because they appear to be Ring’s preferred installer.
Pay Upfront, No Show
Maybe this company has different locations in every state but in Riverside County Ca we contacted the call center for help possibly buying and installing a system; however they are adamant in making a consumer pay up front for the consultation. They sent misleading information about tech arrival time and were unreliable, which of course really set us back. Do not pay to get a service not received Then you have to wait over a week to get any money back. If you need a security system look for other companies for proper and professional consultation and installation.
On tech “consultation”
On tech “consultation”
On Tech’s “consultation” is a scam. Their technician arrived late to their 2hr window. The first thing he said was “Which products do you want installed?” I told him I was expecting a consultation as described on their website as “Create a Smart Home plan with the help of an expert.”
I asked about door locks. He said “we have google locks” there isn’t anything called a Google lock. That’s when I knew this was all a scam and cut the appointment short.
After that I have tried for months to get a refund for the $50 fee. The n Tech’s customer support won’t budge and continue to pass me between people while each trying to claim that what I had experienced was my $50 consultation.
On Tech stole $50 from me with no goods or services exchanged in return. That is theft.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
I bought a Nest Thermostat from Amazon for my Stepmom's Christmas present and scheduled an installation through them. The gentlemen that came talked us into buying one from OnTech instead with the 1 year "All Services Included" Package. He said this included ANY HELP my 75-year-old might need in the future with ANY items electronic in her house. He set up the Nest and her Cell phone in the app and left.
First bout of Winter and she goes to turn on her heater and it doesn't work, we call you guys out, he comes and fixes it.
She was out of town for a few days earlier this month and was trying to start her air conditioning via her app but it wouldn't work. Her son in law lives close, so he went over and found the whole system was dead and wouldn't turn on. We drive down on a Saturday to try and help. The system said a wiring issue. The nice lady we spoke with first via chat and then she called us to explain that this is a known issue with Nest because they are sensitive. She recommended that we not try to fix ourselves as we are not electricians and forwards us to the scheduling department. Here we encountered one of the rudest people we have ever met. You could just tell he hated his job. We try to make the appointment and he goes on to tell us that we only get the first couple free and that each trip out would be an additional expense. I explain to him that we bought the "All Included Package" and that we were told that they would come out each time for free because as the name states, it's included! After dealing with him and feeling lied to by one of these men, we are done with the Nest that doesn't work and OnTech's services.
And now they are sticking to their 60 day policy and will not refund any of my money. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
