Stay away from them! We informed that we hit another car from the back was was on a road bump. No claims were made because there was no damage or anyone injured.
We only informed them as we thought we had to do it. They brought down my NCB down from 6 to 3 years!!!
I have been with them from 3+ years
I have been with them from 3+ years. I have received a letter from them saying that I have been involved in an accident 13 months back at a place I have never in my life. I emailed reporting that this is false and a mistake , asking for all the information about the accident like place, when, evidence, police report.
I received another letter today from Octagon concluding that I have been in accident and they are processing the claim.
I have email them back asking answer to my last email and planning to report financial ombudsman.
Will move away from them ASAP.
I'm been taken off from the road …
I'm been taken off from the road yesterday by police and they said i have no insurance! They run out on 17 January 2017 I've been driving the car 4 months without insurance! Octagon not send me any reminders any renewal pac not phone call or anything. Just call to them now and they say we definitely send you a letter and email in January but I just get in touch with gmail and they confirmed as I'm not receiving anything from octagon this year! That's the worst insurer I ever had. Never again
Very unfair and discrimnative service
After being with this company for 2 years they kept increasing my premium on each renewal citing increasing costs and lot of claims by people as a reason. Changed my car and i was shocked to find out they they no longer insure people working in food industry. I was a restaurant manager for a well known brand. Had changed my job and was working for a printing and courier company, they wouldnt even insure that saying it is connected to transport courier and we do not cover this anymore. Shambolic customer service and discrimnatory behaviour
theft of money by octagon
I had advised them i was not renewing my car insurance with them on 4 occasions they then still went ahead and renewed it and took the money from my account . On complaining they admit that they had on record I had cancelled it also they then said oh well we all make mistakes what an attitude to have . Clearly they feel taking money without permission is okay and a mistake
poor service..uninformed

Extremely poor handling of renewal process
Octagon started off by not sending any renewal quote when they were supposed to. I contacted them only to hear they were sorry and would sort things out soon. It was less than a month to my renewal and no letter. Then I contacted them to be told they would not trade anymore, that I should seek alternative insurance.
Not long after that I got sent an email with a renewal contract and price. I called them and found out they didn't know what had caused all the misunderstanding. A NCD email was sent, but wrong, and again I called them to find out they had no records of it being sent. I questioned the lady as to whether their system was bugged...she only said she was sorry. Yesterday we called them to say we didn't wish to renew with them, having found a much cheaper quote with Halifax...today we get an email from the financial side of the company saying they had been contacted by Octagon and that we wished to proceed with the renewal. Rubbish!
Over priced renewal
been with octagon for 4 years and never had any problems until I received my renewal quote, no accidents and 5 years no claims and insurance went from £350 a year to £786. What a joke rang them and I was told they could offer 15% off the renewal price hahaha. Told them I could get a better policy with Hastings direct for £337, no loyalty to customers these days.
Worst customer service
Was involved with damage to my car no fault of my own by a public servant.
All be it it was an accident the damage to my car was going to be in the excess of £600. Raised with Octagon to only have to do all the leg work by myself, they never passed on details photos or statements to the 3rd parties insurance, better yet it took them 6 MONTHS to even get an answer eventually then send me a letter saying they were trying to contact me. Even at that they never fought my corner to help my claim, took my money and done nothing. To my surprise they did send me out a letter the following week quoting renewal prices for even more ££, absolute cheek!!
Never again, avoid like the plague.
Bad customer service, terrible experience, poor insurance policies which are overpriced
I had car insurance with them for less than a year. They cancelled my policy without notice (all payments up to date and never missed). When I contacted them they were extremely unprofessional and could not offer any solution to the problem they had caused. I had to find a completely new policy in the end. Good luck to anyone who has a policy with them!!! I rate them zero out of 10!!
DREADFUL SERVICE
Octagon recently contacted us to advise they needed copies of licenses pictures of where the car is parked, 8 digit check codes etc etc. I've never had to send this information previously and had car insurance for 19 years. I contacted them as my partner is struggling to get her check code due to not having used the service before and they've kindly sent a letter saying we need it within 7 days or your insurance will be cancelled. I WOULD NOT USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN.

I was only with Octagon for one year, but had to renew this year.
They have sent a renewal through which was double the price from last year and have blamed it on a take over by One Quote Direct. The staff this time around are friendly however sound like they read from a script. I do remember when I first took out the policy the call handler was very rude and abrupt and didn't seem to care. She threatend to end the call and cancel the sign up process because I declined some of their extras telling her I'm covered elsewhere, which she didn't believe, said I was lying and thought it was not possible to get legal protection elsewhere for accidents....the mind boggles with this one, clearly not on the script.

Insured with these clowns for two years, the last month of the second year I was involved in an accident involving a truck. The truck driver was reversing on a main road and hit my car. Footage on CCTV and the driver in question admitted liability. Unfortunately, Octagon and the associated morons tried to inform me that I had to pay for my own repairs and they would try to claim it back from the other guys insurance despite my insurance being FULLY COMPREHENSIVE!!!. When I informed them that this is not how it works they immediately had problems hearing me on the phone. NEVER NEVER NEVER USE THIS BUNCH OF THIEVES..........The ombudsman is about to be contacted

Been with 3 year now. Have never had any problems yet. Their breakdown cover is outstanding. Were there within 35minutes and rang me twice in that time to make sure we were okay and to keep us informed. Really friendly driver too
Customer service is shocking.
The customer service team are shocking. I have rung them on two separate occasions now and the two different women I have spoken to say hello very nicely then it goes massively down hill. The issues were resolved but ask them any questions that aren't part of there drone script they become snotty. I can not wait for my year to end with octagon. Horrible compamy
Absolute rip off merchants
Do not use this insurance company. They are often the cheapest listed in comparison sites but it will cost you in the long term.
They offer cover at one rate then find any reason to up the price after the initial proposal.
Initially claimed they would mirror no claims bonus then after seeing our NCD proof said they wouldn't and doubled the price.
When we cancelled the cancellation fees strangely equaled the deposit paid!
There is a charge with Octagon for literally everything as well. We still get hounded by phone calls from their Chipping Sodbury office even after cancelling.
Also be aware that Octagon is actually Horizon Insurance, Based in Gibraltar.
this company should be shut down
Dear god just stay away from this company. don't let the price fool you read the reviews of other people they are incompetent. All I asked for was a payment date change from the 13th to the 23rd of the month and they just ended up taking money out of my account without my permission. long story short is even my bank rang me because they thought it was fraud. as a result of this they canceled my policy and gave me seven days to pay the outstanding balance because my bank cancelled because they were taking money randomly.
No contact about claim
I was hit by an uninsured driver and put in a claim. In the 6 months that followed I was not contacted once by the company to explain the progress, and chased them personally every month when they didn't update me. Then they continued to send letters stating that they would be closing down my claim if I didn't contact them!
The departments of the company don't talk to each other and I seriously regret not paying a few more pounds for a more coherent company.
Ended up forking out £600 of my own money for repairs as I wasn't getting anywhere, despite not being at fault. I would not use them again.
AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE
Would be 0 starts but don't have that option! I haven't got enough time to tell you how terrible this company is!! Harassing me with threatening messages constantly about cancelling my insurance! Demanding proof of address for a house I had only just bought, demanding a utility bill for last three months no matter how many times I explained I didn't even have a new driving licence yet. I had to take time out of my working day constantly to sort it out, spend half an hour a time on the phone, the worst company ever!! Will never go with again even it is the cheapest I'd rather pay the extra and go elsewhere! All the reviews are true they are god awful AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID!
Unreliable breakdown cover
When I called the breakdown cover, I did not get through easily. After that, I was sent a man so called engineer. Just by looking at my battery without testing it with an thing he knew that the battery was good . He said that it was a mechanical issue when it was not. I requested for assistance to start my car but Octagon breakdon sent to me a towing truck to take my car to my house. They refused to look at my battery n refused to to come back. I had to get someone else to come answer start my car. It just needed a simple jump start.
