nedbank sucks

update: took over an hour on the phone to get someone to close his account and listened to this woman try to sell him a new account!!! after listening to why he wants to leave! this bank is straight up garbage

One of the worst banks I've come across to date.
Upon settling my credit card in full (Which I disclosed) they still had the audacity to bill me over R500 a few weeks later for a service fee. I beg your pardon???? for a service that I have not used and SETTLED IN FULL!!!???
If you think that NEDBANK has your best interest as a client please reconsider. I will be moving all of my banking without a doubt.

I am extremely unhappy with my Nedbank…

I am extremely unhappy with my Nedbank credit card experience.

I have not used this credit card in close to 2 years, yet my balance continues to increase despite me making regular payments. Instead of going down, the amount I owe keeps rising, which makes absolutely no sense.

What is even more concerning is that Nedbank has been debiting my account amounts that I did not agree to. These amounts seem to be decided without my consent, and there has been no proper explanation provided.

I have tried to do the right thing by paying consistently, but it feels like I am being penalized instead. There is no transparency around how the balance is calculated, what charges are being added, or why my payments are not reducing the debt.

This situation is stressful and completely unacceptable. A bank should act with transparency and fairness, but this experience has been the opposite.

I would strongly caution others before taking a credit card with Nedbank.

Bad service

I tried to reopen my business account with nedbank small businesses division. Was helped by a guy called Monde Cele. He changed my details without my authorisation and I had to restart the whole process again, in the end he hung up the phone on me without being of any assistance other than undoing the progress I had already made. Very bad experience

Disappointed

Hi Nedbank

I’ve been a Nedbank client for many years and I am deeply disappointed in your service. I wanted to pay my funeral policy but it lapsed on the last day when I wanted to pay. So now I have to do a new policy and have a waiting period of six months. I had this policy for many years now which means all the funds I paid over years are now lost. I will definitely consider moving to a different bank.

Nedbank Westgate Mall really does not treat clients well. These women at front desk must be replaced they are not client centric, every month o go there u wait for more than a hour the last handling cash services and yes I bank with Nedbank this women ask me every month before wantin😬g to help me that I am a client😙 every month same client comes, like she owns the bank can u train the staff that they are employees and the role is to provide service. When that lady goes on lunch the branch stands still because only she can do her job. The manager sits behind close doors and does jack . Terrible service 🐕‍🦺

Nedbank Tsakane Mall on the 13th of February I have an account with them with no card I was only using that account to deposit money, today I went there to activate the card apparently the was no money on my account I was told that I have a policy which I don't know anything about, I asked them to speak to the consultant unfortunately I was denied access by the security guard and the workers at the ATM they treated me like trash not a client 💔💔💔

This bank is for the dogs. Never will I deal with this bank again if I can help it.
Applied for credit card, received sms saying approved in principal send the following - id, payslip and bank statements which I did. Then they come back ‘need IT34’ After a lot of effort I send IT34 to confirm income only to be told sorry it can not be approved. Why waist my time requesting documents after sending sms saying approved in principal. Also have all the emails saying only IT34 is required. No other indication was given that application will not be approved.

After countless back and forth with…

After countless back and forth with Nedbank customer care, i had the pleasure of speaking to Nhla Kambule who did exactly what i asked for, gave proper thorough information and helped sort everything out in under 30 minutes. Nedbank has given me the run around for atleast a month and after speaking to this young man for not even 30 minutes he had it all sorted out. Thank you once again Nhla.

Nedbank sucks

Nedbank is hands down the worst bank there is I've been locked out of my account for 4 days not being able to buy electricity or food I've called multiple different numbers been to the branch and still nothing I will be moving to absa once this is resolved what a disaster

Nedbank will do fokol when you defrauded

probably the worst bank you can find in South African, it's called the fraudsters paradise. on online transactions when approving a payment it doesn't tell you who's receiving the money you can confirm . paying courier guy online I received a notification of 20X the amount to bet way. and Nedbank can't do anything about it for 9 weeks. disgusted.

Manual Payment with Debit Order deduction

I paid my monthly Nedbank Personal Loan debit order earlier this month when I received my salary on 19th December. (Account # 8005800812601).
This morning 24th Dec there's next to no money left in my bank account because the debit order still deducted as usual.
Why did the earlier payment not auto cancel the debit order.
To make matters worse for me - I'm now told I have to wait 3 working days for the funds to be reversed. At this time of the month with the holidays I will be without funds until 5th January.
And what about other payments that need to be paid at month end????

Does anyone at Nedbank actually have a clue what they're doing!?

Quite simply the worst customer service I've ever experienced in my life, and not just in the realm of banks. It seems impossible to get through to a human being who knows what they are doing - you just get stuck in an eternal loop of being passed from one person to another, none of whom have any answers, or if by some miracle they do give you an answer, surprise surprise, it turns out to be completely wrong! Emails are ignored, when I call Customer Service I get hung up on or promptly bumped back into the call queue as soon as I explain what I need help with, and the 'client feedback' department (who you'd think would take your concerns more seriously seeing as that's literally the entire purpose of their role) have also been completely useless. It honestly baffles me how this bank is still operating. If I EVER manage to get my own money out of my Nedbank account I will be closing the account instantly and never looking back. Shameful.

Honestly the worst Bank in South…

Honestly the worst Bank in South Africa, if I could give zero stars I would. But who cares right, even after writing this review nothing Will change, Nedbank will still continue to be a unorganised, unfair, glitchy, disgusting customer banking service. I have a personal loan with Nedbank, my debit order goes off the last day of the month to match my Salary date. Every year on December, an SMS gets sent to ask if they can debit earlier to match my December Salary date. Usually if I don't reply at all they continue to debit as per the normal end of month date or at least from the 22nd onward. This time, an SMS was sent but I never received it due to Spam detection from my SMS app, however regardless, I should have been called to ask if it's okay to debit the installment on the 12th not a measly text. I received no call. My money was debited now again only 2 weeks after my previous installment just went off on the 28th November. Two lots of debit orders in a span of 2 weeks?! Are you nuts?! Now I'm out of pocket and when I called Nedbank they told me there's nothing they can do because they sent an SMS to confirm the 12th. People work during the week, we cannot reply to SMS text, especially ones that goes to spam. CALL US if important moves like this needs to be made, this never happened to me before last December with the same loan. I will be changing banks now as soon as this personal loan is settled. I take personal loans with Nedbank to build credit score and also their offers are quite flexible. But now after being treated like this just because it's December? You're taking me for a ride and I will not be banking with you no longer. I understand that this will not impact Nedbank whatsoever and me falling back, they would not care less, but that's South Africa we're living in. All I can say to the next person reading this. Please don't take out loans with Nedbank, if you can help it at all do not bank with them completely.

Warning: Avoid Unless You Like Being Ignored

I’m at the point where dealing with Nedbank has become a daily battle, and I’ve run out of patience. I’ve raised issue after issue for months and nothing gets resolved. Instead, I’m met with delays, vague replies, or complete silence.

My account was locked without proper explanation. Queries go unanswered. I’m pushed from one person to the next with no ownership from anyone. Even the complaints division behaves as if they’re doing me a favour by acknowledging the problem, yet nothing changes.

I’ve logged this matter on HelloPeter, Trustpilot, and I’m submitting it to the Ombudsman. The pattern is the same: Nedbank ignores customers until things go public. I’m tired of fighting every day just to get basic service from a bank that brands itself as premium.

At this point, I’m demanding accountability. I want a clear explanation for the account lock, a full resolution of the outstanding issues, and a new private banker who actually responds and takes responsibility. The current handling of my account is unacceptable.

I’ve tried every internal channel. Now I’m taking this as far as it needs to go.

I called in on the 28 November 2025 and requested a reversal from Mobimoney Wallet account back to Migoals, Today is the 02 Novem
ber and no funds have reflected on my account 24 -48 reversal timeframe hours has passed.
Why does Nedbank still have Mobimoney active on our banking app yet its Discontinued. Pathetic

PATHETIC customer service- I was…

PATHETIC customer service- I was charged my debit amount after my account was closed- they reversed less than my due amount in August. No explanation, incorrect statement sent to me by Rosy Joseph, called customer service who apparently cant help now because the account is closed. they owe me R1500. No one responds to my emails or calls me back. I was very polite to them but this is disgraceful. DO NOT get financed through Nedbank!!!

No one answers calls

I have been trying for weeks to lower my overdraft limit and nobody can help me. Every time i phone into the call center i get transferred and NOBODY answers the call. It absolutely baffles me how a bank can operate like this. Its the worst customer experience i have ever had. There is no way on earth i would recommend Nedbank to anyone.
