I have had Mercury auto insurance for almost 6 months, they sent me a letter saying my insurance was being terminated on July 31, 2026 because they were unable to verify all vehicle operators/ household members. so I called them at 800-493-7879, told them I didn't understand why my insurance was being terminated, they said because I didn't let them know who was living in my household, gave me 2 names, the one I do not know who this person is, they said because I got mail for this person and they gave me my sons name, told them he has no drivers liesence and does not drive MY car, to exclude him as a driver they wanted to charge me 98.00 more a month!!!! I am on disability and do not have 98.00 more a month to pay on auto insurance, they can let the NON-RENEWL go forward at the end of July, I will be taking my business elsewhere!!!!!!! This place is a scam and rip off~!!!!!

I have a salvaged car so I just needed liability which started off about $600 a year. Over the next 4 years it went up to $800 a year, then $1000 a year for 2025 and $1200 for 2026. All without any notice of increase.

I forgot why I loved this company in the past - years ago I had Mercury Insurance but then sold car. When I was ready for ownership again I got sucked up into Triple A because I was a member…, but I hated their access to customer service for any and everything- so now I have come back home to Mercury again

The process online was very easy, they give good discounts for clean driving records, and it was easy to get everything set up after getting a quote

Too many issues to count. I sent a payment through my online banking, then got a letter saying they were returning the check with no explanation, even though the bank had already taken the funds. I paid again using Mercury’s online payment from my bank, but they’re still charging me for a vehicle that was totaled three weeks before the date—so I’m paying for two cars instead of one. I tried to add an umbrella policy, but the letter went to my junk mail. They supposedly called my wife, but had the wrong number and left a message with someone else. When I checked the policy online, I found they have my wife listed as three years older than she actually is.
They reimbursed me based on two of three cars that were a base model not my. Model the base model sold for about $11000 less new. The other car they based it on was same model but with about 21000 miles. I emailed my claims adjuster a few time with facts. He completely ignored them and would not change reimbursement. I finally just gave up.

Mercury has some serious problems. There are some nice people who try is help. I think they finally took the totaled car yesterday after over three weeks and the same day of the end of the policy. I think they corrected my wife's age, I think they corrected her phone number. Also they have been charging me for 15000 miles a year on both vehicles. We only drive less than 5000 miles as we are long retired.

I really don't know why I stay with them.

Although, one of the lower cost Insurance, I can't get my head wrapped around their reasoning to increase the premium every time I renew. I have been claim free for at least 40 years, my car sits mostly in the driveway (less than 3000 mi per year) , yet I see on average a $50 increase every 6 month.
Am I getting punished for someone else's claim?
