DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY

I have been a member of ME (this location specifically) for OVER 10 years. The last 4-5 years (before Covid was declining, after Covid APPALLING) There are never appointments available online or via their app, and if you call (they don't answer) or go in they MIGHT be able to schedule you for something 1-3 months out. Good luck trying to get in they have only 12/13 therapist on staff. I was there on a Sunday in December 2023 and they had one massage therapist and one person doing facials and had to close by 4 pm because they have no staff. I have 6 friends in the same boat as me with a bank full of paid massage credits (2 years worth if I could get in Monthly - $2,500+) and we can't get in. And yet they are still signing people up. DON'T Waste your money!!! Customer service is disgraceful and management will not help you or provide you with any kind of resolution. They will however threaten to cancel your membership if you assertively, yet calming ask them for a remedy. There is a reason they have an F rating on the BBB and I lost count of how many 1 star reviews on Google. THEY DO NOT CARE! I have been lied to several times about policies and now threatened. This company is nothing more than thieves. They take your money and do not have the ability to provide the services they are selling. If you try and cancel you will have 60 days to use your credits. Now how is that possible when you have to wait sometimes 2 months to even get in for ONE service.

Massage Envy is awful!

I find myself writing another disappointing review about Massage Envy in Mt. Lebanon. They canceled my appointment FOUR times. They called so late I was unable to find an opening on the weekend. They will not give me my money back and they continue to charge me unless I sign a paper a paper saying I don't want my money back. Don't get stuck in their membership. The manager was unsympathetic and phony.

DO NOT USE MASSAGE ENVY in Conway Arkansas .On the day of my appt I filled out the form to cancel due to testing positive for covid . I never confirmed my appt because I was sick and used the form to let them know by text I would not be there for my appt . This place conveniently could not find my form and charged me $188.00 for a $130.00 massage that I did not receive. Do not book with this place they are crooked and do not care that you are sick and could get others sick. Covid is not a joke This is stealing and disgusting. When asked the manager for her managers/owners number I was refused. DO NOT book here!! Horribly poor management. My husband and I get a lot of massages and have been to many massage places that have never treated us this way . We will be filing a complaint.

Expensive Nightmare

Been a member of ME in Alexandria, VA (Beulah St) for 5 years and although I got some good massages there, their ridiculous membership charges and "freeze plus" program (which thousands of us have had to use during the COVID pandemic when going in for a massage was prohibitive), coupled with employees who badly/incorrectly explain how the freeze plus works, make it a horrible experience. I'm literally about to forfeit more than $1,000 in accrued credits because their "freeze plus" program which, as it was explained to me by 2 separate people, was a $10/mo charge to keep those $1k in credits available as long as I had a massage on the books, they're now saying (in the most condescending, bitchy manner possible) ended today, the day after Christmas, and that they "accommodated me already" by extending it by 6 months, so that's why I see another $75 charge on my credit card today. Was there a text message that it was about to expire (which they are capable of sending as a reminder of an appointment)? Nope. Was there any indication it was ending? Nope. I happened to see the charge and called and got the most condescending man on the phone who told me they'd already accommodated me and when I said there was no way to use 15+ massage sessions in a month he informed me "it's totally doable! We have people who schedule facials and 90 minute massages and it's totally doable!" I'm glad I was on the phone and not standing in front of him. I told him I work 10-hour days and don't have the luxury and he said "well I'm just letting you know it's totally doable and people do it all the time." These people are clueless and condescending, and ME is a huge rip-off. They know how to text you and email you about appointments or "specials" but can't be bothered to give a heads up when a freeze plus is ending or to understand their own policies enough to get the explanations right. I was told months ago that I could "transfer sessions to other people for a $20 transfer fee" but then got told you can only transfer one every six months (who knows if that's true or not). So if I don't want them pouncing to charge another $75/mo, then I'm stuck canceling membership and losing whatever portion of the $1k+ I can't use in the next 30 days - and they have so few evening appointments that I can even book after work that it's nearly impossible to schedule anything AT ALL in that period of time. Predatory, condescending, fully taking advantage of people who actually WORK during the day and can't cram a bunch of paid-for sessions into their tiny evening offerings. Ultimately not even nearly worth the money or frustration. I'll never make the mistake of using them again and I'll be sure to let others know what an expensive, crap experience this has been. There are thousands of reviews just like this one already which just goes to show how much anger this chain incites that so many of us will take the time to share our completely repetitive stories online.

A Tale of Two Companies

I subscribed for service in late 2019 (3-4 months before COVID came to the USA due to a pinched nerve that caused agonizing pain down my right arm - I also subscribed to The Joint for chiropractic adjustments during the same week for the same reason (more on this later).

I kept the subscription going because I was accruing massages, and nobody knew how long the pandemic would last. Part of this was in lockdown. I did not perceive it as losing value to keep it going.

Fast forward to after COVID, and I (this is on me) realized that I hadn't even thought about getting a massage in more than 3 yrs. When I called to cancel. I was informed that if I did cancel, my 45 massages would expire in 60 days - but if I continued to subscribe at a mere $20/month (instead of the $80/month they were charging), I could continue to use the accrued stack for a calendar year.

I laughed with genuine dumbfounded amusement, and said... "So, let me make sure I understand this correctly: I can keep the sessions that I already paid $3600 for from expiring in just 60 days, but only if I pay another $240?" 'Well if you want to put it that way", the clerk said.

DISGUSTING. What a vomitous, gluttonous policy. Shame on Massage Envy. You failed to be gracious. You failed to think long-term. You have permanently lost a customer and all of my friends as customers.

The Short-sighted Ditzball Award is Yours.

MEANWHILE.
When I called The Joint to cancel, they said "Well Sir, we show that we canceled it during the pandemic, because during the lockdown we were not able to provide service. Would you be interested in signing up again?" That is CLASS A business strategy.

This is what Massage Greedy could have done. Massage Gluttony. Massage Shady. Massage Shifty. Massage Grifty. Massage Envy. They are all synonymous names.

Never again 12/18/23

Went for a massage today 12/18/23 and the massage was no where near like any other massages. I never had a self care day where I didn't relax at all on top of it because I used a gift card no one told me that they would try to force me to get a membership as I was leaving and then said that I would have to pay 125 on top of the gift card I had. I had to listen to everything that was going on in in there from the management being nothing but cheapskates to the new call center team leader trying to sleep her way to the top. If that wasn't bad had to hear about the party that they are throwing but the management is so cheap they gave them a 150 budget to handle everything when they have several locations that they own and they hardly ever come to check on there locations. I asked them for their Corporate charter and the articles of incorporation which they didn't know anything about it, because I will be filing a complaint due to this and to make matters worse because I know how people lie I actually recorded my massage. So as soon as possible I will be filing a complaint against them very soon. I'm so disgusted I came in pain and left in pain no relief no relaxation at all very unprofessional.

Member since 2009 - please read thoroughly till end

My wife and I have been members of Massage Envy ("ME") since late 2009 - and we've kept the membership even as we moved to a different part of the state.

Each ME location can be under different ownership - and the owner's attention (or lack thereof) can impact the quality of the front desk and service.

We've seen our local ME (since 2016) go thru different ownership and growing pains - with changes in management, lack of communication, no customer service etc. It was very frustrating.

But all that changed for the better in late 2021...when owners (or new owners) decided to get their act together.

Our membership prices have increased since back in 2009 obviously, but we find them to be reasonable for the convenience and routine. My wife gets her massage once a week - and I get a massage every two weeks.

All appointments are made online - and any changes/cancellations thru phone call. They are very prompt with automated text reminders and/or changes and cancellations.

I went thru many of the negative reviews - and some of them are simply due to the customer's lack of understanding of what is offered....the 50 min massage (vs 1 hour)....and their requirement that the customer cancel more than 24 hours before the appointment.

Beyond that - the experience is very local....bad front desk, bad massage experience, cancel hiccup...it's all specific to that location.

I'd suggest to people - before signing up for any membership - is to go to that same location 4-5 times and also to cancel/change an appointment etc - to see how the service works. After that , if you're happy, then you can decide sign up for a yearly membership.

DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT WITH THEM! They oversale their plan. You can't book appointments. No one from the local business can cancel the plan. Call their headquarters and no one can cancel the plan, although you are assured that you can cancel if you wish. I had to stop payments at the bank, and had the bank give back 5 months of money. They are still trying to send payments through. This is a big SCAM!

Bad cancellation policy due to illness

I awoke this morning (after a flight from New York) with severe coughing and body aches. I have never cancelled an appointment but also knew I couldn’t expose those at Massage Envy. I got an email that said due to their policy my account was deducted 50%. Incredible!!

If you want to drop a lot of money and…

If you want to drop a lot of money and get little in return, get your significant other multiple gift cards here. They will rarely be able to accommodate you and will make a ton of excuses why they can’t take you. Light your money on fire. At least it can keep you warm temporarily.

Cannot stop credit card deductions

My wife set up an automatic deduction to our credit card for $65 per month for the services that the Ocean Pines, Md. Message Envy 1246 provides. This was on 2/15/20. She has not redeemed many of these services for various reasons. She asked Message Envy to discontinue the deductions. They said they can only put a "freeze" on them but it means only reducing the deduction to $10 not stopping the deductions. On 8/8/23 she had to sign a form that stated they would only deduct $10 but they have taken out 20 dollars on our last credit card statement. If my wife refused to sign the "freeze plus" form she would lose the $2535.00 she already paid them since 2/15/20. I spoke to the local franchise manager on 9/19/23 and she said there is nothing she can do about it. A full refund is out of the question she said. It is up to my wife to redeem the $2535.00 and the $20 per month by getting their services. This is near impossible. This is no way a small business should function in a small town.

My happy place

I love massage envy and have been a member for years!! Once you find the therapist that clicks it’s heaven. And it’s nice trying different therapists. The add ons are great. Love this place Alcoa Tennessee!! Thank you ladies!!

60 minute massage was actually 45 min; lady skipped much of my body and what she did was mediocre at best

Good thing it was the $70 intro rate

Careful when tipping - their card calculates tips on the regular price, not the intro price

Never going there again

Never get a membership with Massage Envy

I regret getting a membership with Massage Envy. It is near impossible to get out of a Massage Envy contract. They continue to bill you after the contract is canceled. The overall experience has been terrible. Whatever you do NEVER sign up for a membership with any Massage Envy franchise. You will regret it. Avoid the Massage Envy in Wheaton, IL! Do not let them rope you into a membership.

Worst Facial appt

Worst Facial appt, I ever had. I added (2) enhancements to my Facial, once I got their she said she doesn't do the foot scrub, its has it on 2 of their brochures & on their website when you book the appt its an option & the front desk didn't know they didn't do it. I like to relax during massages & Facials & the Esthetician- Inass, wouldn't shut up with questions & ones that made my uncomfortable;

Who asks these kinds of questions, very unprofessional & I got jipped of my 50mn.
I asked for the manager to contact me that was 2 wks ago, I filled out their survey & they asked do you want to be contacted I said YES, I called again 2 days ago & still no call or email.
Terrible management & service, won't go back. I was one of their original memebership for massages when they 1st opened.
Will Not go back.

Massage Envy Corinth BAD customer service!

I want to be able to gift two of the four 1 hour sessions I have remaining. I have cancelled my subscription and I have 1 month left to use these sessions. I do not live near Corinth and initially joined this location because Christine, my massage therapist for many years, was working there. Unfortunately management changed while she was there and they were not treating her well so she left. I tried to cancel my membership but the local franchisee would not allow for that so now I have these fully paid for sessions to use in a limited time. Under no circumstances will I be using these sessions in Corinth as the distance is beyond my desire to travel for an unknown therapist and the people who work at this location are rude…most recently Wendy. As ambassadors for ME the are sorely lacking. Obviously I did talk to this location and they are difficult and inflexible. I reached out to corporate for support and they deflected back to the franchisee. I am aware this is a franchise location…I am also aware that corporate does play a role in setting the tone for PR and problem solving. What happens next with ME will motivate my next steps.

My bottom line is I want to be able to use my sessions when and where I choose. I am not trying to be difficult, but my next contact is BBB, YELP and any other resource to broadcast my experience. Client care is important in our world and from my perspective at least the Corinth, TX location needs to be trained to be kind and flexible. I promise this type of handling will not bring me back…ever.

Woke, anti-white, racists and bigots. Unprofessional behavior

Woke, anti-white racist and immoral management! The massage is superior, the owner (Eric) and (April, regional manager filling in for regular manager) should be avoided at all costs! After being a customer for YEARS the assistant manager screwed up my appointments! When I complained I was canceled by April and the boss backed her up! I had never had a problem before! At NO TIME have I behaved any way but as a gentleman! Instead of getting the issue addressed he allowed her to apply her anti-white and anti-christian prejudice! She is a BIGOT and racist to white people! Totally unprofessional conduct by both people!

Unsatisfactory Customer Service

In Reno, NV at MaeAnne location the massages were OK because all massages feel great. However, the business end of the deal is frustrating if not completely fraudulent. On the surface the rules seem pretty transparent but as their calendar filled up they didn't appear to do anything to accommodate clients. Now it takes two or more months to get an appointment and they can't even schedule multiple appointments for the same day and time for more than that; like six months out. Worst of all is that once they have your money you will never get it back. You can use cancelled or accumulated appointments as long as you still pay the monthly membership fee but you can't get an appointment for two months so you have to pay for two more months to get one missed massage back. Even though they have your money for months or years past when you didn't get an appointment for whatever reason, COVID 19 for example, you can only use up accumulated credits by scheduling more appointments which are months away. Some advice for current members who are behind: Cut Your Losses and get the "Immediate Cancellation" because you will never live long enough to get the missed months back and the other options for cancellation are merely string-along-cons to get more of your money.

I was a customer for well over a year…

I was a customer for well over a year at the Morrisville, NC location. I wasn't using the service so I called to cancel. I was told I had to speak with a manager. I left all of my information and he was supposed to call me back. This went on for 4 months!!! All the while I was still being charged monthly!! I could not get a manager on the phone! Eventually, I emailed the company and was told I had to fill out a form! That was the first I heard of a form. I told them about my experience and had dates and names but they would not reimburse me for the prior 4 months I was charged when trying to cancel my membership! I will never join a Massage Envy again after this terrible customer service experience! Clearly, they were trying to get more money out of me and sadly, they were successful.
