LR renewables installed a battery system approximately 10 weeks ago. The initial installation was hap hazard, with the control panel being mounted at an angle and the main power on/off switch fitted loose from the wall. I was advised by an independent electrician this was extremely dangerous. Moreover, the battery system has never worked properly and is not fit for purpose. Much of the time it exports electricity to the grid, rather than charging the battery. When the battery is charged, a lot of the electricity we use comes from the grid rather than the battery. I have tried to work with LR renewables to resolve the problems, but with no avail. This has not been helped by LR’s appalling customer service. I have now decided to start county court proceedings to obtain a refund.

You will probably see from my other reviews that I don't often credit the good companies and use Trustpilot more as an opportunity to complain.

However, this company deserve the time to write a good review...

The renewable energy market is full of conmen and cowboys and, frankly, needs much better regulation.

This company though is a shining beacon of how things should be done. All of their prices are out in the open, on their website, and the entire service was fantastic from beginning to end.

It was easy to order everything I needed. Communication was great. I was given a clear date and time for the installation and everything was explained to me before hand.

The guys that came to install the system were polite, friendly and efficient and happy to explain everything to me, even though they ended up being with me until quite late (through no fault of their own).

Today, I had another series of questions because I started to experiment with the app that controls the system and the aftercare has been just as good.

I have received prompt, polite and efficient replies to my emails and have even been encouraged to ask as many questions as I need to.

It has been a pleasure to do business with Lr Renewables from beginning to end.

I'm going overboard, I know but I just wanted to add this: Please, please, please don't trust any of those cold calling conmen that are full of sales pitch and start by giving you a ridiculously high quote, drop to half the price within minutes, if you show you're not interested and then go through a scripted conversation with their 'boss' in order to offer you a 'fantastic deal' if you sign on the dotted line immediately. Their 'fantastic deal' is never as good as it's made out to be and it just proves how untrustworthy they are.

Lr Renewables don't operate that way; just check out their website and you'll see what the price of these systems should really be.

No other company even responded to my enquiries about installing an additional battery for my solar pv system. I had a quick reply and reasonable quote from LR--Renewables. They made an appointment to do the install a few days later. The installers arrived on time and the installation was done quickly. All is working well and I'm very satisfied.

Poor service, as previously spoken about the installation was poor, battery not connected to the wall, wires loose and not boxed off or clipped neatly. Now more issues that shouldn't be an issue, the email they used with Growatt isn't my email and doesn't exist, so I can't access the application as I can reset my password. How stupid have you got to be, to set it up with an email that doesn't exist. Rung to try and get this resolved but promised a call back but no response. UPDATE They have resolved the issue, it shouldn't have been an issue, all I wanted to do was to reset my password. He just needs to think about the small things and he will have a great business, rather than having a unhappy customer. Its so easy avoid.

Additional solar battery installed, which was quick and efficient. The reason for the low rating is the poor customer service. I was given an install date that came and went and they said they knew nothing about it despite my sending several emails asking for confirmation. Same problem since installation - asked for help with a couple of issues (battery not fully charging and app not working) but no response.
UPDATE 25 Jan: different person responded today and much better, all issues resolved promptly.

I had the Growatt 3kwh AC coupled system with two 6.5kwh Growatt batteries (usable 10.6kwh). The installation was carried out on 01 Sept 2022 and I have been using the system for 4 months now.
I had the battery system installed outside as I was not sure how safe and reliable the system was with respect to batteries catching fire etc. Hoping that if anything went wrong over the years then it wouldn't burn the house down!
Installation process was quick and straight forward with the exception of the fitters not connecting the supplied battery earthing cables to the inverter and no earthing from inverter to meter/consumer unit. The inverter earthing is reliant on the earthing provided by the mains cable connection to the inverter. I fitted the battery earth leads to the inverter however the earthing from inverter is still an outstanding issue.
No documentation apart from the literature that you get from manufacturers. L&R Renewables did send me information via email for start up/shutdown but no 10 year guarantee as they say it's automatically done when you register the product with Growatt. No electrical certification of the installation carried out. The consumer unit MCB was not labelled (I have done this now).
No documentation relating to registering the installation with the DNO, this is one of the most important documents that one needs to comply with the DNO guidelines, it's getting their approval of the installation so you can use the system with their grid. You will also need this if ever you sell your home. Still waiting for the DNO documentation and electrical certification of the installation and earthing from from the inverter to meter/consumer unit.
I don't get any responses for above however Luke did respond to other issues promptly like getting the second level password to change the charging times. This is essential if you are on octupus intelligent tariff as the cheap rate tariff timing changes when EV is being charged.
Something to note if you decide to install the batteries outside is that when temperature drops below +5C the batteries will not charge at the 3kwh, instead it would charge at around 800w and lower still if it's below -0C. Even surplus solar energy went to the grid as the batteries could not take the charge.
L&R Renewables were quick in providing a very reasonable quotation and quick installation whereas other suppliers could not get hold of the batteries etc. Online payment for deposit and final payment was quick and easy, all you have to do is print out the receipt once paid.
The Growatt battery system is working without any issues except charging rate drops when temperature drops below 5C. Growatt website or literature does not explain this part. You would have thought they would have installed some kind of heater to keep the batteries warm during the cold weather. I would not recommend this battery system if they are installing it outside, as we will get temperature below 0C. If anyone has had the installation done by L&R Renewables then do remember to chase up DNO approval documentation and electrical certification.

I'm a technical person myself and followed the installation process step by step. The installers listen to my concerns and recommendations, were polite, knowledgeable and respectful with other people property. Couldn't no find a fault in the installation (or maybe a twisted cable but didn't say anything at the time so my bad). Technical support after the installation is good as well, comprehensive instructions on changing the settings and so on.

Despite difficult times (strikes etc.) the purchase was completed well, and queries/questions were always responded to in good time.
Overall, the experience with L&R was good.

Brilliant company - Luke was extremely helpful and sorted us out with a battery after our first supplier had completely let us down. Wish we had gone here first. I have contacted them since on a couple of occasions with general queries and they were very helpful!

I have recommended them to family and friends, and will be using them in the future. A pleasure to deal with!!!

I wanted to add an additional battery to my solar panel set up. My original installer where dragging their feet and quoted a long lead time. Contacted LR after looking them up and from start to finish they have been very informative. I was worried about compatibility and my app being updated etc but there was absolutely nothing to worry about. Fantastic service and I would recommend and use them again.

I wanted to add additional batteries to my existing solar system and the original installer was taking too long to get back to me with a quote to add and install additional batteries, so I managed to get LR Renewables details from a Google search of the type of batteries I wanted and I received a quick response and a very competitive quote. The service received was fantastic and the installation took place today, which was seamless. Thanks to LR Renewables, I am very happy to now have three 6.5kW batteries connected to my solar system to help ensure I am off the grid as much as possible.

Had a battery system (GROWATT SPA 3000 + 6.5 KWH BATTERY) added by L&R to my original Solar panel system. All fitted and working in 2hrs by a very professional team of 2.
From start to finish the whole process moved on quickly, and the communication was good.
I wouldn’t hesitate to use L&R for any changes that I may want with my system in the future.
Highly recommended !

Friendly interaction, polite throughout. 2 jovial lads came to do the installation, and explained how it works and checked with the app. So far everything has been excellent.

LR Renewables did a fantastic job installing my new battery and controller. The engineers were quick and tidy, all done in less than 2 hours. They even dropped me into town to pickup my car! Grat guys, really good job, very happy with my new battery.

Thought long and hard about this review. Let me firstly say, we got we ordered. but here is the issue. When you are dealing with a company you haven't dealt with before how they communicate and respond is important and that's where this company let's itself down. 1. 0800 number is connected to a mobile. 2. Never pick the call but sometimes ring back 3. Don't return call sometimes 4. Had to ask for a receipt for deposit 5. Had to ask for guarantee (only got 1 year for installation, not got one for 10 years for battery and inverter (he says it would be my serial number would be the guarantee) 6. Battery left loose and not connected to the wall 7. Wiring not clipped or put in trucking. 8. No user friendly instructions left, had to keep requesting. Would I use him? again, maybe. He just needs to come across more professional and quality of install should be better.

Outstanding customer service and quality of products. Engineers arrived as arranged they were polite knowledgeable and efficient. A pleasure to have them at my home. Should I require additional batteries/service then this is the company to go to in the future. Strongly recommend them.

I have had an AC coupled battery setup added to my existing panels. The installation was done shortly after my order and carried out by 2 friendly and efficient chaps. The service you get from Lr-renewables is second to none. Luke has been so helpful and even answered some emails late in the evening. I had an issue with the app which turned out to be my wifi router dropping the connection. That was soon rectified. I have been more than happy with the whole process and happily recommend them to anyone.

I can recommend LR Renewables for the installation of Solar battery storage system. I initially contacted them for a quote as the price on the website was very clear and reasonable, I wanted to make sure everything was included. Luke was quick to reply and assure me that the price on the website was the price I would pay. The installation was carried out quickly and cleanly within a couple of weeks of order by two very friendly installers. I am happy with the service and would recommend.
