False advertising and bad customer service
False advertising and poor customer service. They opened a new club by me and hyped up several selling points tied to unique wellness offerings. Club opened Thursday. I found out the wellness suite, aka entire reason I joined wouldn’t be available to use until “fall” I asked if that meant September or November? They wouldn’t say and their customer service response time has gotten longer each exchange l.
I canceled my membership
I canceled my membership. Because of the managers that are racist against Muslim people training there. Really rude. And the way they look at you. This is basically a racism gym.

This company is safe for now but once this presidency is over, they will be bankrupt and their CEOs will be exposed until they are held accountable.

WOW!!!! It is obvious LIFETIME doesn't care what their loyal members have to say about them because they have bene around for a long time but continue to treat their members like garbage. Policies like 30 grace period to suspend a membership is screwing your loyal members and you don't care. Your facilities are great, your employees are great, your corporate policies are management are far below average for the price point you are in.
Predatorial gym and exploitative practices
I was a Life Time member from June 2021 through May 2026. I am writing this review to warn other members and potential members about what I believe are predatory and deliberately deceptive billing practices at Life Time Colorado Springs.
PREDATORY AUTO-REACTIVATION SCHEME
In August 2022, I signed a Membership Change Form deactivating my three children’s Junior memberships. Buried within that same cancellation form — without clear explanation — was a “Reactivation Date” of July 1, 2023. Life Time used this buried clause to automatically restart my children’s memberships nearly a year later without requiring any additional authorization, signature, or explicit consent from me. This is not an oversight. This is a deliberate system designed to restart charges members believe they have cancelled.
I TRIED TO STOP IT AND THEY IGNORED ME
In approximately June 2023, I visited the front desk specifically because I did not want the upcoming reactivation to proceed. I spoke with a staff member and signed documentation to prevent it. That document was never processed. As a result I was charged unauthorized Junior dues every single month from July 2023 through May 2026 — 35 consecutive months — totaling $1,169.84. Life Time’s own transaction records confirm every single charge.
FOUR UNEXPLAINED DUES INCREASES
During this same period Life Time raised my base dues four separate times without written consent:
• October 2023: $119 → $129 (8.4% increase)
• May 2024: $129 → $144 (11.6% increase)
• April 2025: $144 → $219 (52% increase in ONE month)
• April 2026: $219 → $278 (13.2% increase)
I can only locate one email notification for any of these increases. The other three — including the extraordinary 52% jump — appear to have been applied with no proper notice and no written consent whatsoever. Life Time sends so many promotional emails daily that a dues increase notification is effectively invisible — and I believe that is intentional.
CONFRONTATIONAL STAFF TRAINED TO DEFLECT
When I raised this dispute in person in May 2026, front desk staff were confrontational, dismissive, and told me the money was gone and it was my fault for not monitoring my account. They made no attempt to investigate or escalate appropriately. This response was not the reaction of employees who were surprised — it was the response of employees who have been trained to shut down billing disputes at the front desk before they reach management. Only after insisting did I speak with the club manager, who acknowledged my dispute and noted it in the file.
THE PATTERN IS THE PROBLEM
Life Time requires members to sign a formal document to deactivate memberships — but reactivates them automatically through a buried clause in that same cancellation document without any separate signature. They raise dues dramatically without meaningful notice. They train front desk staff to deflect billing disputes. None of this is accidental. It is a business model built on the assumption that members won’t notice, won’t complain, or will give up when they do.
WHAT I HAVE DONE
• Filed formal billing dispute with Life Time corporate
• Filed complaint with Colorado Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division
• Filed BBB complaint
• Terminated my membership effective May 31, 2026
• Disputed charges with my credit card provider
• Life Time has NOT responded to my formal dispute after more than 10 business days
PROTECT YOURSELF
1. Read every single word before signing anything
2. Never assume a cancellation request has been processed
3. Check your charges every single month
4. Save every email they ever send you
5. Get written confirmation of every membership change
6. If something seems wrong — it probably is
I will update this review if Life Time resolves this matter appropriately. Until then, consider yourself warned.
Just Cancelled - Not worth the hype
I have been a member for 2 years and just cancelled. I have such a laundry list of reasons to not like this club. Every class I loved here was cancelled. The other classes I want to take are always waitlisted. The kids evening babysitting service is never available. I once had an eyelash appointment with someone who ended up being 45 min late and then she text berated me for leaving even though I had another appointment to get to and it was her fault she was so late. Today was the last straw, we are celebrating my daughter’s birthday and wanted to go to the pool. My sister just flew in to celebrate and left her wallet at our house when she quickly packed to leave. Despite having been my guest in the past, they refused to let her in without her physical ID. She is so sweet and non-threatening, but the robots at the front desk were horrifically rude, offered no opportunity to speak to a manager and could not care less that it was my daughter’s birthday. Human empathy and intervention matters. Sometimes you have to say -why do we have this rule and can we make an exception given the circumstance? The way that they treated us at the front desk makes it clear to me that all they care about is money, they don’t even train their employees on how to be kind. My husband spends $1700 a month on private training and orthopedic services on top of the $600+ per month we spent on membership. They’re really dropping the ball for something pretty lame. Good riddance.
I’ll have to cancel my membership due…
I’ll have to cancel my membership due to poor service and them supporting horrific conditions
Was a member for over 12 years and they…
Was a member for over 12 years and they constantly raise rates and take away amenities, or add fees to use them. They literally took all the basketball out of the gym and turned it into (fee-paying) pickleball courts that are empty 90% of the time. Complete cash grab of a company. Constant manager & employee turnover. Went from the premier gym in the area to an overpriced, poorly run facility.
I don't know who this company is
I don't know who this company is. I am 76 years old and do not want to join a fitness club. They have taken over $150 dollars from by bank. I am going to call all the radio and tv channels here is Chicago and have them go after them. If they don't want me to do this, then I expect that money to appear in my account. If they can take it out they can put it back. I don't even know how they got it. People beware of these crooks.
Check in for minors
I dropped my 15 year old nephew off. I can accept responsibility for not going inside to verify check in procedures. He never signed in. He was meeting a friend. The friend's family never signed him in or gave him a guest pass. When I went to pick him up and he wasn't answering the phone, I got nervous. When he started walking around, nobody stopped him. With him being a minor, someone over 18 should have been with him. When I called the location, they had never heard of him. It was a lesson for me. Imagine if they had locked down the building or notified police. Everyone needs to sign in and follow appropriate check in procedures.
Awful experience
Awful experience. The manager, Edwin Hetman, exhibits an abuse of power and conflict of interest. He chooses favorites and disregards true concerns. Poor management skills and highly unprofessional. This place will always have problems as long as he’s running it.
I tried cancelling my membership last…
I tried cancelling my membership last month and had to pay for the entire month. Now they charged me again for this month and refused to give me a refund. Their online app to cancel does not work properly and their customer service is atrocious. The location on Clarkson road in Ellisville Missouri is terrible. They do not return calls.
Horrible experience at the lifetime in…
Horrible experience at the lifetime in mason, oh. Snobby and unfriendly instructors (Kristen and Kara). 6 am classes are outdated. Too few of class offerings at that time considering price. Creepy men on the weight floor with wannabe porn stars filming themselves. Place is a total joke.
Management Needs a Serious Wake-Up Call
I’ve been a member at Lifetime King of Prussia and have to say the customer service experience has been deeply disappointing. My biggest frustration is that management simply does not listen to member feedback. When you raise a concern or complaint, it falls on deaf ears — and it doesn’t get better as you go up the chain.
I’ve tried addressing issues with staff, then escalated to higher-level management, and the response has been the same at every level: indifference. There’s no acknowledgment of the problem, no follow-up, and certainly no effort to make things right. It feels like complaints go into a black hole.
For the premium pricing Lifetime charges, you’d expect a baseline level of professionalism and responsiveness. Instead, the entire management team seems untrained in even the most basic principles of customer service — active listening, accountability, and follow-through. A facility is only as good as the people running it, and right now, this location is being let down by leadership that doesn’t seem to value the members who keep it running.
I’d encourage the management team at this location to invest in some real customer service training, because what they’re doing now isn’t working.
Unethical. Disgusting. Wildly Unprofessional.
Lifetime Austin South is a physically and emotionally unsafe, volatile environment. Don’t be fooled by the facilities (trust me, there’s plenty of mold growing here which is an ongoing issue they avoid solving). There is much more to this place than meets the eye. Lifetime is NOT an upscale gym.
I urge you not to enter into a contract with Lifetime Austin South for your own safety and protection. My safety is my utmost priority and I had to prioritize myself by leaving, as Lifetime does not protect its members by choice.
The worst part about this unelevated gym is that staff and the Lifetime company itself are completely aware of issues happening here, yet do nothing to resolve them. Instead, they avoid taking any action which is simply unethical negligence.
As a long time member here for years, Lifetime’s lack of integrity revealed itself to me over time. This place is classless and a huge mess. Not a hot mess. A gross mess. Money can buy many things. Class, however, is not one of them.
I never could have imagined the tasteless, unproductive, unsafe drama that goes on at the South location in my wildest dreams. Most members are hesitant to speak out, but it’s important to be honest.
Appalling customer service
life time presents itself as an upscale facility, and at $330+ per month it fits the bill, but in reality it's run with the lowest standards i've ever encountered at a gym. the staff at the Atlantic location in Brooklyn are completely chaotic and no one showed up for the tour I had scheduled when I first considered joining (and no one bothered to let me know ahead of time). instead of making it right, the membership concierge, Darrell Ross, ignored my multiple attempts to reschedule the tour and refused to even answer a simple question I had about classes. i remained completely tactful and polite throughout our exchange--I didn't even complain about being stood up for the tour--and yet his response was truly and bizarrely rude. I also wrote to the manager, Emiliano Tramontozzi, asking for help but a week later he still hasn't responded either. it looks like a nice place but that doesn't justify the trashy treatment and lack of basic hospitality. you can go elsewhere for a much better experience—and you'll probably pay less too.
Way too expensive for what it offers
Way too expensive for what it offers, and customer service was disappointing.
