My experience with Root Insurance was great. I purchased my policy online with ease. It was very affordable.

The process was very easy and very quick very simple instructions and steps to take so far. I love it.

I did not sign the insurance policy all I did was ask for a quote, wake up this morning the money is missing from my account

The app was easy, the price of my insurance very reasonable compared to other companies I called and I’ve definitely started referring family members and friends.

Easy and convenient

We had an accident that was caused by someone insured with Root. The police report clearly indicated fault of the party insured by Root. Root Insurance company would not cover the accident since they said it was the insured party's son and not the person that purchased the insurance--his Mom. They even admitted that it was their insured person's fault but told us we would have to take them to court since they would deny payment for the repairs.

Found the insurance on Credit Karma and found I could save $23 a month so I jumped at the chance, made the switch from Progressive so easily and I’m all set.
I guess I just don’t know if they send the info to the state for me or not?

My quote went up 600$ out of nowhere. From 358 a month it went up to 460$ 😂
Left them really quick and now with direct auto and my payment is only 145$ a month. Not worth it!

I’m sharing my experience as a consumer to highlight serious concerns with communication, transparency, and basic empathy during a claims process that lasted over 40 days.

Timeline:
• My vehicle became undrivable due to a covered claim
• I was without the use of my vehicle for over 40 days
• Multiple emails went unanswered for days at a time
• I was repeatedly forced to call just to receive basic updates

During this process, I received inconsistent and shifting information.

Beyond the technical mishandling, the lack of empathy and consideration for the real-life impact of being without transportation for over a month was unacceptable. Insurance is meant to provide support during difficult situations, not add stress through silence, misinformation, and delay.

As of today, my vehicle is finally ready for pickup. Due to the continued lack of accountability, I am allowing the Texas Department of Insurance to handle this matter through the appropriate regulatory channels.

This has been one of the worst service experiences I’ve encountered, and it has permanently impacted my trust as a paying customer. Keep in mind this was a MINOR claim that could have been resolved over 30 days ago. This is not the company you want to deal with when facing a loss of your possessions.
