Shambolic applied for passport in Jan so I could go and meet my future father in law time for passport to arrive was told police officer did not sign on stamped so then I went back did it again and got it signed and stamped then it arrived back a few weeks ago saying fill it in again cos I didn't sign it which I did it it would be stupid to not sign it even the police offer said they must have lost it but now it's too late to meet my future father in law as he passed away while I was waiting to get the passport so thank you Irish passport office for your utter shambolic management no wonder Micheal Martin was rightly giving out unacceptable should be closed now and replace by people who know what they are doing

Applied for passport early April'24…

Applied for passport early April'24 through Passport express. Send in all required documentation as mine was a complex application. Target date for completion was end of June, status bar reached its target but went back down. Rang Passport office to see what the problem was & said they needed more documents. Received letter outlining what they needed. They needed the same documents I had already sent only this time they had to stamped & signed, I wish they could've said this sooner or had this on their website as it would've caused less stress & anxiety. However, I got the documents signed & stamped & sent everything back by registered post. Rang daily for updates & found staff lovely & pleasant but were reading from different hymn sheets all the time as most answers to my questions were conflicting & the estimated target date had now went to 7th August 😩. I was due to travel on 3rd August. I emailed in a complaint about & they acknowledged my complaint. I was never rude nor nasty & understood it was a busy time for them however they
had my application since early April
Continued to ring daily still got the same response. Then 29th July I got a call from Passport Office to let me know my Passport application was complete & would be sent to me the same day or I could collect it I received it the following morning.
My experience with the Passport office was no doubt stressful but I can honestly say I did not think I was going to have my passport on time to go on holidays with my family & I am so greatful for making it possible. They do work with you & work towards completing all applications if you provide all relevant documentation at the time of application, however I do recommend that the Passport Services updates their website & is specific as to their requirments in relation to what documents should be signed & stamped apart from the Garda's section.
All in all...Thank you to all in Passport Offices who participated in processing & completing my application.

Customer Service Agent Awful

Called Customer Service today to try and establish the status of an application. I was told it could take up to 16 months to process. I asked if they had received my information in the post and if my grandfathers birth certificate was with them. I was told they couldn't check that. I went on to ask further questions regarding the application and the girl hung up on me. Awful customer service. Awful attitude of young girl on phone. Disgusting that anyone gets paid to treat people like this

Unbelievably Good

My wife and I got our passport renewal photos taken by a very helpful chemist last Friday morning. He used dedicated software to tweak them to be acceptable under the passport rules. Our online application went in that afternoon. I was bowled over to receive two new passports in the post this Monday morning! Absolutely brilliant service. Thank you to all involved.

PASSPORT OFFICE STAFF NEED TO BE CHANGED ASAP
Such people should be well trained, helpful, friendly and fast. There is no option direct contact with a real person, only by phone or email. Asking clients about the same things, ignoring fact that documents were sent already or/and simply careless. People send sensitive documents which should be send back quickly (not waiting somewhere on their office). In fact, documents are sent on the beginning of any application so what's a point to send them again ? Online application no better. Mails sent by mistake, many other false, answers from different people, etc. How long we can wait for a new passport ? Technology should help if people know how to use it correctly. Fix online communication, correct applications, photo details. Garda men are laughing how many times they need to sign the same docs. Move on guys, you are national service ! Shame to be slow like this. 24 hrs work shift needed for such service and more people !!!

Poor timing and unhelpful advice

Sent my application in the start of January, they were over the estimated processing date and 3 days before my holiday,( mid march) told me i didn’t have the right documents which would take another month. After those documents were sent, it took another month and a half (well after the estimated processing date) for them to tell me there were more problems. Process is very slow and they should be more clear and helpful on what to send earlier on. People through the phone number told distractedly different things every time i phoned, very unhelpful and unprofessional.

If I could give a minus I would, applied online for my mum's passport in Jan 24, estimated date 6th march which came and went, I rang nearly every day after that to be told it was being processed, 5 days before are travel date they said a supervisor would look into it, later that day I rang again to be told something hadn't been signed, which was bull dust eventing was in order before I sent it 3 separate people looked over it for me, I begged them if they would let us come and provid the paperwork needed and complete application but it was a definite NO, my mum missed her dream cruise and probably won't get the chance to go again due to her dementia declining, very upset and completely dissatisfied with the service, and to top it all we still waiting for passport 😭

Phone calls off limits rything I call a mesadge says they…

Everything I call a mesage says they cannot answer my call as they are busy. Also I have to listen to this message in Irish then English before I find i am getting no where. It would be helpful and waste less time if I was first asked to push a button for which language I needed. I need to speak to someone but its not going to happen so maybe we have to step backwards and write letters again.

FABULOUS RENEWAL SERVICE

I'm bowled over with the fabulous online renewal service.
Expecting loads of issues as not too techno savvy it was so simple to apply and the guidance re taking pasport photo was seamless.
I applied on 22nd march, was advised that expected delivery would be 9th April.
I got it by express post on 26th March .
Fantastic, brilliant .

Don't Bother

I contacted the Dublin Irish passport office to speak on behalf of my wife. My wife told the operator she had given me permission to speak on her behalf. I was nice and polite, I just wanted to sort an issue out. However, when I was in mid sentence, the operator put the phone down. I was gobsmacked.
I immediately filed a complaint. I got a response the next day to say as the application was in my wife's name,it is she who must make the complaint.
Their logic defies explanation. Their standards are in the gutter.
In future, I will use the post office on South John Street Liverpool. They seem far more organised and helpful.
I rarely, if ever,write a poor review, but this passport office takes some beating.

Well Well Well

I cannot believe it i am shocked to the bone I applied on the 9 Feb online from Leeds West Yorks and the thing dropped through the letterbox at 10 am on the 16 Feb If thats not the personification of good practice and efficiency what is That is in the light of my own experience others i am sure will have had quite the opposite outcome Credit where its due T HANKS

Total disaster..sent application for…

Total disaster..sent application for passport July 23 and am still waiting on it February 24. All appropriate documents have been provided: long birth cert, short birth cert, driver licence, marriage cert, 4 photo suitably countersigned, my old passport. All details have been correctly submitted - all forenames correlate between documents. They appear to be trying to stall the process by querying and finding fault when there is no fault! Ironically, turnaround for online British passport is ONE WEEK.

don't bother. a total shambles. They told me that i did not submit my id verification form with my proof of address letters.
Then when they returned the proof of address forms guess what. in the middle was the form they said they did not get.
Then when you try to talk to them they put the phone down when you explain whet they have done.

Thank you Irish Passport Office staff

Thank you for processing my first time application from the UK. It did take 4 months which was longer than I expected, but I am grateful to all the staff who worked very hard which undoubtedly a huge backlog of applications. Staff on the telephone were so polite, helpful and encouraging- thankfully a real person to talk to. The webchat was fairly easy to get through on, had to wait longer sometimes, but I always got an update, am very grateful, and thank you again.
I speak as I find, so well done everyone.
