I've noticed someone else has had a similar experience to me, I originally read about this brand in The Times and loved the idea and concept, as I'm always on the look out for new and interesting books.

I paid for my subscription for May and June but have just cancelled my membership, as it was approaching the third payment and I still haven't event received one book yet - needless to say I was really disappointed with the lead times on this, it takes away from the entire concept.

Not to mention the delivery times take so long and they ended up getting my tracking order wrong, so the first book I paid for is now going to my old address, so I won't be receiving it anyway - waste of money.

I signed up for illumicrates horror quarterly box evernight (I’m already subscribed to another of their boxes too). I didn’t receive my confirmation email so emailed their support team. I got a reply within 24 hours and the whole situation was fixed within 2 working days by the fantastic team member Layla.
Great customer service.

Contacted Illumicrate after a mix up with an order.

Issue was sorted quickly and a replacement is shipping next week.

Anytime I contact the team I always have a positive experience.

I ordered 1 special edition book 2nd of April and it arrived 16th of April (I live in Norway for reference). The book was beyond gorgeous; with gold edges and a beautiful red color, it matched the website’s picture well. I’ve ordered from Illumicrate before and they never disappoint! Can’t wait to order more books from them!

Customer service always go above and beyond to answer questions and speaking with them is always a pleasant experience.
Illumicrate boxes are beautifully packed and arrive with a pamphlet inside to tell you the story and artist for each piece in the box, it really feels like Christmas when a box shows up on my door step.

I love this company. In my opinion, they have a very generous skip policy (subscriptions are subject to cancellation after 10 consecutive skips). They make sure that their non-subscription book releases are well stocked, with the intention that non-members can have a likely chance to grab an edition. I think this is super considerate; it never feels like theres a fight or panic when trying to secure a copy. I feel this way with other book subscription services.

Customer service was great! When I received a damaged book it was replaced very quickly. I have even ordered previous boxes because the quality is wonderful! I would definitely recommend to anyone who will listen. It’s also really nice that they now have a location here in the United States.

Greedy corporation which just take your money and refuse to provide any support or honor their term and conditions. Stay away from Daphne press as well as they are related. Donald Trump is a samaritan compared to the owner of that business

Their customer service is amazing. I emailed them regarding my damaged book and they assured me they will send a replacement immediately and they did. The book that I received is in a perfect condition. So thank you and I am truly grateful.

Their customer service team seamlessly worked with me to switch my subscription plan for May (temporarily) as well as ensure that my payment went through when renewal came along. They were friendly in their emails and quick in their response times. Even if they hadn’t been able to do the switch for just one month, I’d be happy with the service because of how nice they are.

First off, the books are gorgeous and extremely high quality.

When one of my shipments arrived looking like the delivery carrier literally ran it over (one corner was staved in and they managed to bend both covers), support was very helpful in getting a new shipment sent out.

Overall, a great company where you actually talk to humans instead of a ChatGPT bot and you can feel good about supporting diverse authors with these shelf trophies.

I have so much respect for this company. From the customer service to the representation of diverse stories to the incredible quality of the books. They respond in an incredibly timely manner, are always friendly, and stay in constant communication via social media and email with their costumers. As the title implies, I cannot say enough good things about this company and I will be an avid supporter for years to come.

I've been subscribed since March last year, and I just love every box I receive from them. They're always full of items with a much higher value than the price of the box itself, and the book selection is amazing. They take the time to pick culturally, ethnically, and sexually diverse books from all kinds and types of authors, and all of them are downright amazing. Besides, the books are gorgeous.

Recently I had some trouble with my payment, and their customer support team was so kind and patient. The person I talked to, Tiffany, helped me through the process with such an amazing attitude, and no judgment at all.

I will keep my subscription as long as I possibly can.

Illumicrate has always responded to me quickly and efficiently every time that I've required assistance. They're always polite, helpful and professional.

I was so glad I got through the waitlist for the book only box, only to be disappointed by the lack of variety. Up until now each book is a lgbtq book. Good for those people to be represented. But I'm not gay and I can't identify with any character or romance scene. As soon as a spot opens up with Fairyloot or Owlcrate I'm out.

I have been a subscriber for a couple of years until this past week or so. I have found they are doing mediocre books in the sub lately, but I stuck with them, and had never skipped a book.
One book I was actually looking forward to was A Study In Drowning, but when it arrived excess glue had been used in manufacture, therefore when the book was opened it ripped the inside of the book. When contacting them, I was first advised I would have to wait 3 weeks for a verdict due to lack of replacements. When 3 weeks came, I was told that the damage was enough to qualify for a replacement book, however they did not have enough due to other damaged books (great quality control), so my compensation was 15% refund. When I asked how 15% seems reasonable compensation when I would ordinarily get a replacement, they basically advised that it is better than nothing, my damage is minimal compared to others!! I was offered a full refund, if I returned the damaged book at my cost. (This cost was not refunded). No replacement.
As a book collector, this is not an acceptable response. I had cancelled a preorder of Waterstones special edition because this was Illumicrates sub book, regretting that decision. £3 is what I got back, and a damaged book that cost £24.25.
THEN, my October book arrives, again with damage, again a manufacturing fault but this time there was spine sticking out of the bottom. These books are not just standard books, they are special edition books, and I would expect better customer service and customer care. Subscription cancelled. Poor customer service, they clearly do not care.
