Food quality: no complaints.
There's a good selection, dishes are well described and include nutritional information and heating instructions.
The website looks good and it's easy enough to filter by various categories but it is very clunky with pages taking way too long to reload.
You get to choose the delivery day, though the earliest I found was five days out; I don't know whether that depends on the details of the order. They use DHL to deliver so you get a one-hour window on the day of delivery which is fine.
Packaging is not excessive, which is good.
Overall, a good and convenient service.

I have been using Homecooks for a whole now. I find the food on the whole very good, I have had a couple of hiccups but the problems were resolved immediately. Only downside is I think the delivery charge is a bit high.

I have enjoyed ready meals from HomeCooks (HC) since lockdown. I have tried many companies, some of which are no longer trading but have always found HC to be very helpful and informative.

Price-wise certainly suits me with subscription 10% off regular orders. Meals are well packed and you are given a 1 hour delivery window on the day.

Their customer service is brilliant 🤩

I love HomeCooks! I wanted a healthier alternative to some of the ready meals that I normally rely on. The food is tasty and I can check out the nutritional stats which is something I struggle with when cooking at home from scratch.

Most dishes have been amazing, there’s been the odd one I haven’t been so keen on but this could be personal taste I guess.

I’ve found customer support really good - as there have been a few website glitches but hopefully these are being ironed out as they continue to develop.
I also love their points/rewards scheme and that you can gift free meals to friends occasionally.

Hoping for more new and exciting dishes soon!

I've been subscribed to HomeCooks for the past few months and I found their service, quality of food and variety of choices great! The only possible downside I would say is it can get a bit pricey if there's no discount or vouchers applied but I guess it's the trade-off between readymade healthy food and price.

In respect of the jerk chicken meal - utter rubbish. In respect of the "healthy" cottage pie - like a child made a bolognese and vomited it straight up. An overly sweet half-can of chopped tomatoes with some bits floating around and some mush on top. I can't believe what they charge for this dross. Style over substance.

I bought the ready to eat Caribbean Jerk Chicken by chef Anne Marie from a local shop for my son to take to work for lunch. The rice was stuck together and hard and the jerk chicken consisted of three child size bits of meat, not fit for purpose. There is no way the portion size was sufficient for an adult although the box stated 'serves 1'. I ended up making my own rice and jerk chicken thighs from scratch for him to take to work instead.

I love Home Cooks. It's been a life saver in the last couple of months.Some dishes are better than others but overall it's really good value :) plus most dishes have quite natural ingredients. The customer service is greAt too :)

I just received my first order from Home cooks and tried Cauliflower rice the microwave instructions were for 950 watts mine is 800 watts so I tried 3 and half mins a bit longer for chilled. The almond flakes burnt there was no taste of cauliflower and it wasn’t a nice taste I threw some away it was a small portion and utter waste of £4.95 I hope the rest of the order is a lot better

Treat their repeat customers with contempt. Average food & Poor website.

FACT I paid HC over £800 & was a subscribed repeat customer

FACT HC refunded something not delivered to a CANCELLED CARD

FACT I told them this and was dismissed with ‘that was the card you paid with’

FACT It was not the card I paid with. It was cancelled due to FRAUD over a month previously

FACT If a card cancelled to fraud is still being used I could have my bank account emptied

FACT I contacted them a SECOND time & sent screen shot evidence that I was correct

FACT They said

“Hi, s*c here! I can say with 100% certainty that that is the card you paid with”
s*c is the HEAD of customer services

FACT That response came within minutes & the evidence I sent was not addressed at all

FACT That was the LAST COMMUNICATION I have received from HC (they tried to call after having the review removed a 2nd time 18/10. I told them to email as I am autistic & can’t do calls… nothing)

FACT s*c WAS & IS 100% WRONG

FACT I spent a long time talking to my bank to check that it was cancelled. No payments had been taken from it for over a month

FACT I sent this evidence from a national bank to s*c at HC

FACT I was ignored

FACT I had to talk even longer with my bank to check if I would actually receive a
refund sent to a cancelled card, turns out I would

FACT I emailed HC’s again to tell them that would receive the refund, as I didn’t want them to refund me twice

(clearly at this point I was still assuming they were at least reading my emails

FACT Still no response from HC or s*c

FACT Me having to contact my bank about this, was me doing s*c’s job for them. It was & is not my responsibility to correct HC’s mistakes. I do not get paid for that, they do

FACT Even had s*c been 100% correct & the card they refunded to was the card I had made a payment from, that still was a VERY SERIOUS ISSUE that needed to be addressed not ignored

FACT Cancelling cards is one of the few immediate actions we & banks can take to stop everyone loosing more money from fraud. Had they managed to take a payment from that card that would have called into question my banks actions & how fraud is dealt with by the whole banking sector

FACT s*c didn’t EVEN REPLY TO ME, let alone investigate what could have been a really serious situation

FACT I wrote a review after waiting 24 hrs 4 a response

FACT in minutes of that review going live they unsubscribed me & closed my account

FACT Ironically & both indicatively of their customer service I am still getting emails from them asking me to review them,another job half done

FACT After a week I got an email telling me HC had reported the review for ‘hate speech’ & it was being investigated

FACT I have never had the results of this ‘investigation’

If it takes you a week to report something as hate speech,you have probably never experienced hate speech & it’s probably not hate speech

FACT It is not hate speech to call out privilege, ever, but especially if you use that privilege to silence others less privileged

FACT I am an autistic woman with three disabilities they knew this.This situation caused me a lot of stress & caused a worsening of my physical symptoms

FACT You do not get to the head of department in any company unless you embody the values of that company

FACT I didn’t want money or compensation, I wanted to understand what had happened & why To PROTECT MYSELF FROM FRAUD. I wanted HC to hear what I was telling them & take it seriously. As it was serious & could have been even more so. Instead I was dismissed and ignored.

I believe this was Intentional discrimination because I was neither male nor average. Having read other reviews, ‘just ignore it’ seems a repeated behaviour from the customer service team. What is the criteria for who gets ignored & who doesn’t?Because my issue was serious, I was not having a moan.It was a situation that needed action

Then when I held them to account by writing a review, at which point they could have contacted me to be accountable & reassure me that they would make sure no one else is treated this way, they chose instead to attempt to silence me,twice!

Very delicious meals, and there is such a huge variety of meals on there, spoilt for choice! Excellent customer support as well. The website is mostly easy to navigate, there are just some minor improvements to be made to it (which they told me they are working on). Ever since Tastily shut for business I was looking for an alternative and I'm really glad I found HomeCooks. Would highly recommend them to anyone who doesnt have the time (or doesnt want to make the effort) to fully cook from scratch, these meals are ideal.

A friend sent us a week’s worth of food from HomeCooks when we had our baby. Every meal was delicious, well prepared and stored/cooked well.
As a vegetarian it’s often hard to find good quality ready meals, HomeCooks Tofu Thai Green Curry and Lentil Bolognaise were particular highlights - truly a welcome end to what can be long and difficult days.

Will definitely be ordering for ourselves going forward

Possibly one of most unmanageable companies I’ve had to deal with! I scheduled a large meal delivery for Thursday 5th September, that in itself what a nightmare to sort out as the pricing was all wrong and their website is hard to use! I finally got the correct pricing and then ordered; I was informed by DHL (their chosen carrier) that the delivery would be on the Tuesday (2 days before). I questioned the delivery because it was due to go to my work address on that day and I wasn’t at work? I emailed Home Cooks immediately and they said it wouldn’t be a problem to sort out and change the address and then I get a notification to say it’s coming the following day on the Wednesday?
I questioned how the food would be stored because I wasn’t expecting it to come the following day DHL informed that it would be delivered on Thursday! The original date… It was really frustrating and a caused me a lot of anxiety. I emailed Home Cooks to find out what was going on and basically they’ve said they’ve withdrawn my subscription (basically because I’ve had delivery and pricing issues)
The very fact they cannot sort the correct delivery days out; Makes me cringe what the Food would be like after 2-3 of being held by DHL! Never again

Impressive service! The home-cooked meals were delicious and authentic. Fresh ingredients, generous portions, and warm, friendly service. Highly recommend!

Simply, does what it promises to do.

We have been using Homecooks for our daily lunch catering at office for the whole team for a couple of months now and would 100% recommend ordering from them. Great meals, great options and amazing customer service - always prompt and helpful.

We sampled a few of the Home Cooks dishes at Fridge of Plenty. It gave us the opportunity to be selective about which meals appealed to our different tastes. It’s a fabulous initiative and is great for those many moments when you’re time limited and just want something delicious and available to heat up straight away
