Discontent with Current Policies and Call for Change

The current policies regarding Steam accounts and game sales. As a customer who has invested time, effort, and money into your platform, I feel that these policies are unjust and negatively impact our experience as users.

Key Points I Would Like to Address:

Prohibition on Account and Game Trading: In today’s world, there are times when our focus or circumstances change (such as work, travel, or personal commitments). Why should we be forced to lose everything we've invested financially without any means of recovering it? It is unreasonable to trap us in specific accounts with no option to exit.

High Pricing: Games can sometimes be priced unfairly high, and with no options for returns or resales, we feel as though the market is being monopolized. There should be options that enable us to purchase games at fair prices, or at least the ability to sell games we no longer need.

Piracy as an Alternative: Due to these policies, many players seek illegal methods to obtain games. If satisfaction with the purchasing experience is absent, the temptation to resort to piracy increases, which is detrimental to both players and companies alike.

Suggestions:

Create a Marketplace for Game Resales**: There should be a system in place that allows players to legally and safely sell their games or accounts.

Offer Flexible Return Policies**: Consider implementing a return period for unwanted games, encouraging purchases without the fear of financial loss.

Enhance Pricing Promotions and Discounts**: Review the possibility of offering more promotional deals to make games more reasonably priced for users.

SteamDeck package lost

I had ordered a SteamDeck from them. 5 days from shipping had passed and then the package got stuck when leaving Bulgaria. I waited for 5 more days and then contacted them. They were asking me to provide a secure address to send me a replacement while I had explained to them that the package had not even enter my country so that my local carrier service would get it. I ended up asking for a refund.
Worst customer support ever. They did not even bother to contact GLS to check what the status of my package was.

Illegal Account Restriction

Like most companies, Steam thinks its policies are above the law. Steam have on two occasions completely ignored my rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. As they refused to refund for their unsatisfactory software on two occasions, the matter was escalated to the payment provider, who considered the evidence and judged in my favour. Steam have now permanently restricted my account and require that I create a new account and repurchase all of my games. The company engages in coercive, bullying tactics and does not respect UK law or users' rights.

The account restriction is illegal as users are entitled to the features which are restricted, and purchases are made on the condition that those features are fully available. To unfairly restrict these features is non-fulfillment of contract.

I am currently attempting to reach out to all of the developers of the games I purchased to try to get a free copy for the new account and have my progress transferred. I doubt this will work, and if it doesn't, I will chargeback every single game on my account so I can purchase them on the new account with no unlawfully-imposed cost on myself.

Large companies will learn that their policies are inferior to law and they will comply.

Steam Family and Support

I am unable to join Steam Family with a family memeber in the same household, we connect over the same IP and we even tried over the same device, Steam Support kept repeating the same info "Steam Families is intended for a household of up to 6 close family members, and our data could not confirm that this is the case. Steam Support is not able to provide specific details to users on how the restriction works."
Awful support.

du sender åbentlyse beviser på scammers sider links. hvordan de har snydt steamguard. og kan vidersende dine ting til en anden account uden nogen form for notifiakton, idet du prøver at sende en gave eller lignende til en ven eller anden profil, kan de decline den og bruge samme godkendelse til at sende til deres account uden videre godkendelse eller notifikation. du kan hverken decline som de kunne eller lignende for at stoppe den bot som sidder på din account i at sende samme items til egen account.
supporten fatter ingenting og er til ingen hjælp selvom man åbenlyst kan se ens items eller lignenede på vedkommenes account.
Steam er blevet et sted for scammers og bliver beskyttet af deres regler.

horrible company.

horrible company.
randomly you get "This account may have been accessed by someone else."

this happened to me 3 times.
the 3rd time they wanted a cd key.
a spent useless cd key that nobody has any reason to keep laying around.
i gave them the paypal bill for my first purchase back in 2015.
i gave them a bill for my first phone number ever on the account.
i still got the same email attached to the account.
this company is literally a scam. nothing but a scam.
they randomly claim you been accessed somewhere else and then require you to give them information no reasonable person would ever have, if not your done and have to rebuy everything.

Account hacked / items stolen

Account was hacked and a lot of expensive items were traded away from my inventory (stolen). And all steam support could offer me was tips to secure my account, 0 help in helping to retrieve the lost items due to their ‘policy’ , which i was told was in place to retain the value of rare items. Its nice to know that its more important to them that an in game item retains its rarity and value than a customer of their services losing hundreds of pounds of hard earned money. Thanks steam, thanks a lot.

Steam Support are quite helpful

Steam Support are quite helpful. After my account was hacked and I saw someone messaging random people about weird stuff something I would never do. Steam support told me, my account has been compromised, so they gave me tips on how to get better security. I did have steam guard but some way my account still got hacked. I'm just happy my account never got a ban from this. I was told to try the Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator, so I did, and since then, nothing bad has happened, so I have to give them a 5 star and say thanks

I lost my mobile phone with the number…

I lost my mobile phone with the number I registered 2 factor authentication on. I send emails to steampowered.com only to ask if they can disable 2 factor authentication with no success, not even one response email from them I bought two products on my existing profile with them and cant access it due to this authentication issue. My username is nicklo25 on steampowered.com app.

Account locked - Getting only bot answers

My account has been locked out for months and it's impossible to get in touch with any "human" agent.
All I'm getting is generic, automated answer.
It's impossible to contact them and they don't care about whatever your write to them, the answer is always pre-formatted and often off-topic.

This might all be AIs answering the tickets, or maybe real human that have to handle 120 tickets per hours so they end up behaving like robots anyway, I don't know.

But the thing is that I spent thousands of dollars and hours into my account and have been a user for over 15 years.
A total shame from Steam on how they treat their long time dedicated customers.

You'd better pray to not have trouble with your account because once you do, that's where the real trouble start.

Dårlig karma

Steam gør det unødvendigt svært at somme i kontakt med dem og har man et problem er der ingen hjælp at hente. Jeg købte Battlefield V for nyligt. Det blev installeret, men da jeg bille spille, skulle der indkodes en cd nøgle eller sådan noget lignende. De havde ikke leveret em sådan nøgle. Jeg kontaktede EA om en sådan en nøgle, men her blev de meget tekniske og ville have nogle informationer jeg ikke havde. Jeg prøvede at kontakte Stean, men deres Gør-Det-Selv "hjælp" sagde at jeg skulle henvende mig til den oprindelige udbyder (EA). Ingen gider at hjælpe kunderne. De vil bare score en masse penge. De svarer heller ikke på kritik.

This Review is just for their support which is actually none.. Im waiting for days already since the last reply for a case that opened 5 Days ago.. and it gotten nowhere yet... no live chat option, no discord option.. this Company still exists in 1990 even real life mail would've been answered faster that that.. NOTHING actually this is the worst Support i have ever seen...

BESIDE the not available Support i do love steam, but may be looking for alternatives in the Future...
