My experience with this company was a complete disaster filled with amateurism, mediocrity and complete lack of any sort of common sense. I’m especially frustrated because I chose to used them based on the great reviews they had online.
I would really like to think that I was just super unlucky with them, but this is a real story with this company that has 25+ years of experience. Hopefully this message gets to whoever is responsible for their customer service and operations and it opens their eyes to what is happening in their company.
To start with, I admit my case wasn’t 100% straight forward, as sending them documents, they apostille them and send them back to me. There was a little curve ball, where I needed them to apostille my document, make a copy of it and certify it by an UK solicitor (which is also a service they provide). This copy then needed to go to my University in Spain and the original back to me.
I was aware this wasn’t as simple as 1-2-3, it was more of a 1-2-3-4 case, hence I made sure they understood what I needed. I paid for the apostille, I paid for the solicitor, I paid 50GBP for DHL delivery to Spain and 18GBP to have the original delivered back to me. Everything is going great - happy as a clamp.
You can only imagine my surprise when I get an email from the university that the document delivered can’t be validated because it’s missing the apostille.
I get in touch with the company asking what has happened and they have admitted that yes in deed they forgot to send the copy of the apostille. But the original diploma is on its way back to me so they can’t even do the copy again because they don’t have the diploma anymore and I just have to wait until it gets back to me. Here they agreed to at least refund me the 12GBP for the solicitor, but no offer of refunding the DHL fee, which I will have to pay again ones the document arrives, if I want the diploma to get to Spain fast enough from my country. In any serious company, this would be the minimum they could have done, considering that I paid them for a job that they essentially did not do.
Anyways, here I am, waiting for the original to arrive, my stress level is slowly growing as the deadline for this document is approaching very fast. After about two weeks of waiting for my diploma I get an email from them saying that the document couldn’t be delivered and has been returned to them.
At this point, I am really starting to get concerned as I had last 4 days left to get the correct diploma to Spain. I called them again and I could not believe what I was hearing. The diploma couldn’t be delivered to ME because they put as the recipient name “Secretaria Académica” and told me it was my fault for not letting them know that when I said I want the original delivered to ME they need to write MY name down and not the university department that is in another country. Then I was told that the document was intended to be delivered twice and couldn’t - no shit it couldn’t. They could have tried to deliver it 100 times and it wouldn’t arrive since there is no person called Secretaria Academica living in the department building!
Apart from them not sending the copy of the apostille, which is the whole point of their job, they needed me to tell them that when they are going to send the original back to ME they need to write MY name as a recipient. And they had the nerve to act like I am the idiot?! Sorry for thinking that people working for a company that is supposedly the best at what they do have some common sense. It makes me wonder if next time they’ll need to be told they need to lick the envelope before closing it. Before you ask, yes they had my name, they’ve been addressing me by my name in all the email correspondence.
You’d think that after all this mediocrity and amateurism, they’d take some responsibility for their incompetence and try to make my experience with them slightly better. I hoped that they’d do the copy again and send it back to Spain at their own expense. But no, they told me that even though it was their mistake they can’t send it again by DHL “for free” but they can give me a discount (instead of 50 I paid 32). Oh and I still have to pay for the shipping of the original back to me because it was 100% my fault for not telling that my name isn’t “Secretaria Academica”.
I have hired this company - which is a private company, not a government agency, to take away the stress part of organising this document and to have it done quickly - had I only known…

I needed a document to have an Apostille stamp - the customer service team via chat were very helpful before I paid for the service, setting the expectations of timescale but also mentioning delays are possible (I appreciated the honesty) and the telephone team was excellent throughout the transaction too. I had regular updates via text, which was super reassuring. I had a very tight timescale, including a bank holiday Monday unfortunately, but the team got my document back to me within the timescale promised. Absolutely excellent service - thank you!

My degree certificate didn't show my middle name and they advised I would need a solicitor to sign that the name on my certificate corresponds to the full name on my passport. Hague Apostille provided me a solicitor-signed document for this at no extra cost, and they were very fast and responsive to my questions. Postage took about one week from when I first posted the documents to when it was delivered back. Overall happy with the service.

Not 'fast' as described online
Needed some document to be sent overseas, was advised by a team member that I would recieve them in the time frame I had. To find out that I will not receive my documents in time. Therefore unable to attend my visa appointment. Several emails sent, alongside online chat to be cut off. Poor service, total of 2 weeks turnaround and as of yet no acknowledgement. I do need further documents translating and apostille but I will search for another company. Complaint logged, no response.

Had to get an urgent Apostille and had very tight time window to get this done, l found Hgue very efficient,excellent service, grat customer services and easy to do .Had to phone a couple of times and it was great to have a person on the line and not a machine, helpful staff every time .Think this was Lewis or Luke who helped me .Would use them again if needed very pleased.

I am giving a one star review as it took over three weeks to get my documents apostilled. I should have just done it my self and it would have taken one third of the time. I basically paid extra money for my visa process to be delayed, big regrets.

Data protection not followed
I am giving a 1 star review due to The Hague Apostille service not following data protection. I had asked for my documents to be scanned and sent via PDF. I received my scans but also another person's (ACRO and marriage certificate). When I rang the office to highlight this I was told that 'there is a glitch in the scanning system and it sometimes sends out the next scanned document as well as the requested scan.' I was shocked that data protection protocols were not being followed or any breach being taken seriously. I have sent a complaint about this to the company also and as yet they have not responded.
Sadly terrible customer service
I was abroad and I needed UK legalization services for an official document. On their website, Hague Apostille Service explicitly advertise that they provide the services that I needed (let’s call them A and B) for that exact type of document.
So I placed an order, paid £84 fees plus £50 for international return postage, specified on the order form that I wanted services A and B, and sent them the original document by courier (€20+ postage).
12 days later I received an envelope from Hague Apostille Service. To my astonishment, I saw that instead of A and B, the company had applied services C and D to my document, without any explanation.
I emailed them to ask why they didn’t provide the services that I ordered and paid for. Their customer service replied that “sadly” they are unable to do A, but their solicitor “would only be happy” to do C and D instead. And that if I go to a UK solicitor to do A and send it to them, they will do B “free of charge” “as a gesture”.
[So: they expect me to pay twice for A, once for B, plus four times postage, plus travel costs to the UK – but B would be “free of charge” and that is “a gesture”. Brilliant.]
I wrote back to ask why they decided to send me something I didn’t order without confirming me with me first, and to tell them that I want my money back. They replied that “sadly” they can’t do A, so they decided to send me C and D “to avoid further delays” (?!). And that they will refund A and B only when they receive C and D from me.
I posted C and D to them (another €20+) and emailed them the postage receipt, together with a complaint for mishandling my order, misleading advertising, and wasting my time and money. I clarified that I expect a full refund for A and B, as well as for the postage to return C and D, which was their mistake. They said that “sadly” they don’t refund return postage fees.
I replied that sadly according to the Consumers Act 2015 all return costs should be covered by them, as they are in breach of contract.
The next message I got was from a manager, who confirmed that I would get a full refund for the initial order, which I received the next day.
So all in all, I wasted three weeks and more than €40 in pointless postage — all because Hague Apostille Service advertise services that they “sadly” don’t provide. As for their customer service… sadly it’s bonkers.
Fast and reliable service.
Due to delays in my immigration procedure, this is the second time I am ordering an apostille for my ACRO certificate. Everything is processed timely and very carefully. I can only recommend this service. The staff is very helpful and very nice. Thank you, my order arrived today with DHL.
Fact Check with Hague Apostille, to make sure who certified your document.
I sent a Court Order for an Apostille. After more than 2 weeks (turn around time listed on website is 2-3 days), the order is returned certified by a lawyer, who writes, " The contents of this document were found to be accurate when compared to the records held at high court Queens bench", turns out Hague Apostille didn't get certification from the Queens Bench, but relied on the same lawyer who sent me the order, to certify it! And somehow got another lawyer to have their name on the certificate, rather than reveal who really attempted this authentification.
My advise. fact check after you receive Apostille documents from this company, ask the question, "Who certified this."

Excellent service, I got the apostille within two days.
Scam company
Scam. Simply cheating company. I order Apostille (£54) and Birth Certificate Translation (£60). Before I place order I was contacted with them few times to make sure that I understand everything fine and I place my order correctly. I was explaining that I need this for Romanian Embassy to make documents for my son. They send me email so I do everything step by step like person on chat tell me. I receive documents, everything was looking fine. So I go to Embassy where I find that this documents are not legal and this person which is making translation has no permission to do this kind of documents. So I paid for false documents. I try contact with them again on the phone and on chat. And they said me that I must paid again to make new translation. When I ask for refund they said that I don’t get nothing or they closing chat online and I don’t have any feedback. I’m sorry because I loose money and I’ve got fake documents. Romanian Embassy said clear, documents are not legal so they can’t approve this.
