For the money, this kit is a great deal. The wooden parts were pretty good, and I had to do minimal work on them (I did have to work on the neck pocket and drill guide holes) to get the neck to fit well. The hardware is on par for a kit of this cost, so I did upgrade the tuners and bridge. Wiring was easy given everything was pre-wired; however, the connectors were difficult to thread through the body cavity holes. I had to use a guitar string to pull the connectors through the body.

I actually like the sound of the pickups, and they are dead quiet to my surprise. Since the frets are small, I used heavy strings and set this guitar up for using a slide, so I'm pretty stoked to have such a killer looking guitar for such a great price.

EDIT: Customer support after writing this review has been very good. Make no mistake, this is a product in development, with the potential to be really good with clear instructions and good quality control. Seems to be a company willing to improve and appreciate feedback.

Bought the Les Paul in Ash. Opened up the box and found that the neck pocket on body has been hacked away, so much so that the neck is practically at a 45 degree angle rather than straight. Tried to contact, no reply. Paid over £200 including delivery. Never write reviews but incredibly disappointed, quality control is not good at this company, guitar cannot be used, really looking forward to this first build, put me off designing truthfully.

Bought lute-making tools for my guitar, I had to work on frets. On the website tools are shown as verified by an expert, strong, long lasting, accurate and adapt for high quality work... so I started my work... the tool for the staightness isn't staight, the tool for filing wears out very fast, the tool for shaping frets has damage them.
I have to admit that the only tool that works well is the polishing gums
After few searches I found all the same tools as Guitar Fabric on Aliexpress for half the price !
I haven't test guitar kits but I will not buy one with this seller.

So in the end I bought real lute-making tools from another serious and professional seller

I'm not saying that you buy on Aliexpress, but that your tools are the same, certainly your Chinese supplier also sells his items on Aliexpress. Maybe you are just the seller and you trust your "expert", but I can assure you that your luthier-making tools are not good. I wrote reviews on your website for each tool I bought... only the positive review for the polishing gums was published... strange isn't it?
The tools I received do not have your logo engraved on them, unlike those shown on your website, maybe you've stopped having them engraved to save some money. Perhaps I was unlucky in having a tool that was not straight, but the sanding block with so little and bad sanding paper... I sould better had to go to a DIY shop, buy a piece of aluminium section, sanding sheets for metal and double face tape... And the crowning file... it's a toy ! look at its relief, it imitates a diamond file but it's not one, impossible to file with it and the 4 faces do not correspond to any frets crowning profiles.
I would be curious to see a video with your "expert" carrying out a planimetry on his own guitar using the tools on your website. (Especially the part with the crowning file)
And finally, I haven't received any emails from you... well, only one... the invoice !
Maybe it's time to change "expert" team

Very good and fast shipping. The guitar kit (ES335) is very well made, easy to build (it was my first kit, but I've already done some works on other guitars). Nice wood. The neck is well fretted, just need a little planification on two frets.
The pickups sounds good; the hardware is decent, but the guitar can be upgraded (I've already change the tuners), and . But it's ok and worth the price, because the quality of the body and neck is very good. So, very good experience!

I recently assembled a Firebird kit with gold hardware, a nod to the classic Gibson Firebird which I admire. The fretboard, despite a few minor imperfections, did not affect playability and maintained a satisfactory straightness. The neck profile is on the thicker side, which suits my preference. However, the frets are notably short and have shown significant wear after just six months of use, indicating a need for refretting in the near future.

The tuning machines initially included with the kit were subpar, making tuning stability a challenge. I replaced them with moderately priced locking tuners from VParts, which improved the situation. The nut required considerable filing but proved to be of decent quality once adjusted.

The body of the guitar was the highlight of the kit for me. Crafted from solid mahogany, it provided a robust foundation for the instrument. I personally added arm and belly cuts, which was a rewarding hands-on experience. The finish, achieved with sealer and nitrocellulose lacquer, resulted in an attractive open-pore look. I opted not to polish the body due to limited resources, but the gold hardware compensates by adding the necessary luster.

Most of the original hardware was not up to standard, so I retained only the knobs, the bridge temporarily, and the tune-o-matic, which I plan to replace with a Gotoh model soon. The stock pickups were lackluster, prompting me to invest in a new pair of mini humbuckers from Q Pickups and a new 3-way switch. These upgrades have significantly enhanced the guitar's tonal warmth, complementing the mahogany body.

In conclusion, building a kit guitar is a journey worth undertaking for the enjoyment and learning experience it provides. While the base instrument may not meet high sonic standards, investing in quality components can transform it into a reliable and performance-ready guitar. The personal connection to the instrument grows with each modification and hour spent playing it.
