Grant boiler working very well, we should have replaced old one years ago. Grant recommended installer was excellent. Home Heating did the install very efficiently.

Grant Combi Blue Flame oil boiler faulty

Grant Combi Blue Flame oil boiler faulty only 3 years old, has broken down again, we have not had any to water or central heating for about 2 weeks now, its had some new parts fitted but has an intermittent fault, you think your running a bath and when you get to it, the water is flat cold, its had a new oil pump on and coil and still not working, it won't fire up, you think you have a warm house to get up to, no your wrong, waiting for the plumber to come again, 4th time lucky we hope. I mentioned to the plumber that the heating takes ages to get warm when your trying to run a bath or shower, and he has just told me that with a combie boiler you can't have hot water and the heating on at the same time, it dosen't work like that, and when I am running the bath which takes 10 minutes if I want to use water anywhere else in the house, like clean my teeth or wash down the worktops there is NO WATER anywhere else in the house available, there is only two of us, but its a big house, I think we were miss- informed of the capabilities of a Combie boiler, it should be made clear on the brochures and information should be readily available of its limitations, I would not buy a combie boiler again. I am Very disappointed.

We’ve just had a new Grant oil fired…

We’ve just had a new Grant oil fired Combi boiler fitted .
All I can say is it’s awesome!! lots of lovely hot water,great efficient heating .
Saves room in the kitchen as it’s an external model.

New Grant boiler replacing another older one

New Grant oil boiler installed today by GD Davis. Gary and Jordan worked hard and it was done nearly and well in a day. Nice well made boiler replacing another Grant 16 years old that had smelt of kero from day one and resisted every attempt to eliminate the smell. So hoping this one finally lays the pong to rest. It is producing hot water and operating normally.

Four complete (and costly) failures in 50 months

I'm afraid that this is a repeat of my review of July 2023 as our Grant PCB has just failed for the fourth time since January 2020 - on each occasion leaving us without heating and hot water for up to one month (twice in mid Winter) and, eventually each time, with a very large bill for a replacement. These circuit boards seem to have a lifespan of around 15 months - even with regular servicing by Grants. As we live in North Northumberland, engineers experienced with ASHPs are few and far between. From my prolonged experience (shared by many of my neighbours and in new build houses designed and built for such a heating system) I would strongly counsel against replacing an existing system with a Grants ASHP.

reliability for the last 25 years

Having had a grant oil boiler with very good reliability for the last 25 years I had no hesitation in having another one, very pleased with the installation done by a G1 fitter, B A Wallbridge, and so far pleased with our choice, a combi vortex pro external.

Warranty and filters not worth the paper it’s written on! Avoid them if you can.

Brand new Boiler started to be very noisy after a couple of months.
1. Grants engineer- fitters haven’t fitted it correctly. You need a new expansion tank. Fitters fit new one at their cost.

Noise continues
Grants engineer- it’s the baffles they need replaced! Completed by grants.

Noise gets worse.

Grants engineers - boiler needs replaced!

Grants - your water is contaminated. It’s not covered under warranty. You need a new boiler.

Me- what about the expensive filter you charged £800 for?

Grants - warranty will be void. Contact the fitters!!

Fitters- nothing wrong with the fitting. The boiler is no use!

Me - looking to find £4000 for a new one. My pension is that good! I h
Guess I’ll spend the winter freezing. Thanks for nothing.

Thanks for the Excellent Customer Service!

I want to thank Grant UK customer service, and in particular their representative who has dealt with my enquiry, for the most speedy, pro-active and helpful assistance that I've received from any company's customer service team for a very long time. It deserves to be given 6 stars, not just 5.

I had a problem that led to my central heating system cutting out while I was away from home during the very cold weather at the end of January, after storm Eowyn. The problem sorted itself out, but it was unclear whether the issue had been with the Drayton Wiser smart CH controls or with my Grant Vortex PRO Outdoor Condensing Combi 36 kW boiler itself.

Grant's representative helped immensely by identifiying for me the one (very obscure) reason that could have caused my CH system to cut out for over 4 hours, but then restart itself without any human intervention. This was not a fault of the Grant boiler itself (which has been 100% reliable for 5 years) but seems most likely to have been the result of my having failed to bleed air from the radiators sufficiently frequently.

So my grateful thanks to all at Grant UK.

New boiler came with 2 manufacturers…

New boiler came with 2 manufacturers faults. Rude customer service and not one apology for the faults and inconvenience of no hot water/heating during the coldest months of the year. The person sent out to fix it provided a very vague report for a third issue which wasn't boiler specific but barely any explanation was given and was followed by a big bill - they'd removed a filter but did not inform us that we'd need to put a new one in, we only found this out after phoning to query what was actually done - At very least they could have written this in the recommendations section provided at the bottom of the report. A very frustrating experience so far, no real customer care - I would not recommend to anyone considering a new boiler.

ASHP - broken unit, broken promises

ASHP - something went wrong with the installation with a recommended supplier. The unit makes a loud 200hz drone that penetrates neighbouring properties.

The senior technical expert for Grant UK promised to resolve. After months of waiting he made one visit and fitted some sound insulation. This supposedly reduces the noise by 25%. It has made no difference. I wish the unit had never been installed.

It has made little difference and the underlying fault remains. Grant UK have done a drive by botch job and now say the matter is resolved.

Grant outside boiler installation

Went for an outside boiler in a weatherproof insulated cabinet to make things easier and free up the space where old boiler was located. Very neat unit and works extremely well. Engineer was quick to install and commission due to the way it arrived. Quiet in operation so couldn't ask for more. No feedback on oil consumption as it is early days but seems to be using a bit less, the house is warmer for it. Not the cheapest boiler but advised by our heating engineer to pay a bit more for a better product in his experience and opinion.

Technical assistance is important with something of such an advanced nature.

I would not recommend Grant heat pumps.

My house had a Grant Aerona 3 heat pump installed when newly built less than 7 years ago.

After 3 years, the PCB stopped working and had to be replaced.

Now in the coldest month, January 2025, the heat pump has stopped working again.
So no heating or hot water!

Plus, my engineer says that he has a problem getting a replacement part, as Grant will not sell it to him direct, but only through specified merchants.

It now transpires that there is a shortage of these parts, so no heating or or hot water throughout January.

3 PCB boards, and possibly a new compressor as well, within 7 years is not a great advert for a reliable heat pump from Grant.

Plus, absolutely no help or solution from their customer support line - basically "It’s out of warranty, so tough’”.

Also, when I said to their technical services help line that heat pumps are promoted as being a reliable product with a life expectancy of at least 10 years or more, with the Government pushing us that way for environmental reasons, Grant stated that we have never said that length of time about our products.

Heat pumps are costly and obviously from Grant not reliable over a longer time than any conventional gas boiler.

Boiler broke down completely after 7 years.

I was assured that my Grant Vortex oil fired combi boiler was top quality and would last many years. Unfortunately it has just sprung a water leak after only 7 years service and flooded the unit. Compared to the previous boiler I had which lasted more than 25 years I feel that modern boilers are not built to last. I wonder what other people think of the longevity of these boilers. So I have now been without heating for a week and the new boiler (not a Grant) will not be installed until the end of the month. The Grant was serviced by Certas every year ... Very disappointing and expensive.
