Don't use GoSee to book car rental
I made a booking for car hire with East Coast Car Rentals using GoSee and paid an insurance premium for zero excess. On arriving at East Coast Car Rentals, the booking was recognised but the insurance agreement was not. After paying the outstanding amount for the car hire, I was told that I would have to pay an insurance premium well above that already paid with GoSee or a $1000 deposit. I don't use credit cards and only had $970 in my savings account, so I was unable to take the car. This has thrown my travel plans for the weekend into disarray. On talking with other car hire companies, it seems they also don't acknowledge deals made with third parties. My lesson today was that when it comes to car hire, deal with the hire companies directly and not via third parties. Otherwise, you may have your travel plans ruined too.

Upon investigating the issue of this booking, we discovered that the insurance you have selected was eligible for a full cover on any roadside repairs, damages to the vehicle or if the vehicle is lost or stolen. Your booking also included a Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) which is to reduce the excess fee to $0 in case of an accident.
Please note that on this booking’s rental voucher it states that “A bond (security deposit) of $1000.00 is required at the rental counter and this amount will be frozen (or reserved) on your credit card. This applies to all our customers for any rentals.
Once again, we are sorry to hear that you were not fortunate enough to use this rental and we apologize for any inconvenient this has caused you. We hope that you will think of us for your future rentals and we will try our best to make it up to you.

If I could give no stars I would. We booked months ago for a car over new years. We rocked up to the pick up location and it was closed, despite arriving at the time we booked for. Gosee said they would cancel the booking and book with another company for $600 more then what we were meant to pay. This was a terrible experience and I will never use them again.
Edition: in response to the comment made by Gosee, the customer care team are not working on this. We cancelled the booking as they wouldn't help us and we booked directly through the rental company instead. Gosee told us that they couldn't do anything besides cancelling and rebooking for $600 more, as they are only a third party company. If you need a rental car for your holiday avoid this company!!

Firstly, we would like to apologize for the miscommunication and for not letting you know about the holiday opening hours. Your feedback has been passed down to the team for further review and improvement of our services.
Please note that our rental partner Hertz, does not allow us or customers to modify pick-up hours, therefore the booking must be canceled and rebooked. Our customer care team tries to help and find a solution for you, but you decided to speak to our suppliers instead. However, we are in the middle of investigating this issue and have already forwarded your feedback to our supplier. We are currently waiting to hear from them so we can consider a resolution or check if any compensation can be given. Upon checking your booking, I can see that you have already been refunded.
We will email you the outcome as soon as we hear from Hertz. This is taking longer than usual because Hetrz customer service team has been away due to the New Year's holiday. Meanwhile, we appreciate your patience regarding this matter.

Ruined our holiday and Christmas!! No car hire but money taken!!!
We were on our family holiday in Thailand and attempted to hire a car twice, on both occasions money was taken by GoSee despite no car being available at the end of the process online. We didn’t get a booking number as the agreement didn’t go through but the payment did of course and 10 days on we are still waiting to be reimbursed!!!
Numerous emails and telephone calls have been fruitless. I’ve wasted so much time trying to get our money back which we need!!! I don’t want other families to be ripped off by this company. GoSee are in no rush to reimburse us nearly a thousand dollars which should never have been taken in the first place. Looking at reviews this is a common theme of dissatisfied customers waiting for deposits returned and monies owed by the company. GoSee need to treat customers better than this. They run a completely inadequate company which steals from families during holidays and near Christmas!! Disgraceful.

Still no reimbursement! Credit card states takes 30 days for our money to be returned to our card which is appalling but we would never have had to have waited if GoSee and/or the company who it used didn’t take the money twice in the first place!!!!

Thank you for informing us regarding your recent experience and please accept our sincerest apology for the inconvenience this has caused you, especially during the holiday season.
As a global rental agency, we represent many rental suppliers and unfortunately, they do not provide us with live availability. We apologize if your requested vehicle was unavailable while the money was pre-authorized from your credit card.
The reason why this issue was taking longer to resolve was that the name of the main driver was different from the name of the credit card holder and for security reasons our customer care team could not proceed until they receive approval from our customer.
However, upon checking your booking details, it shows that the money was released on 12th of December back into the account and the confirmation was emailed to the account you’ve used to create a booking. It usually takes 7-10 business days depending on your bank’s processing for the fund to be released then will be reflected as available funds in your bank account.
(Please note that this transaction is not an actual payments and are just funds being held by your bank, please contact your bank so they can release the Pre-authorizations)
I hope that this matter is settled to your satisfaction, and once again we apologize for the disappointing experience. We hope we can get another chance to earn your loyalty for your future rental needs.
