A new experience for myself the survivor
My husband and I only paid this plan last year and unfortunately, my husband suddenly passed away in March. I was devastated but was helped through the process by the local funeral service, provided by Autumn Leaves.
After this experience I would NEVER advocate a formal funeral plan again. Everything was handled professionally and with dignity, I was even asked if I wanted him dressed in his own clothes, which he was.
The lack of a formal service and funeral, I feel has helped me. I was kept updated regarding all of the plans for his final departure.
I knew the date of the cremation, and not having to sit through a formal service of final goodbyes helped the slow healing wound to continue its healing process without opening it sharply again.
I would and will advocate for Autumn Leaves. Wonderful and caring goodbye for my husband of 50 years.

Funeral plan enquiry
We emailed golden leaves to enquire about funeral plans and almost immediately received a call back arranged a visit from Gavin Paskin who gave us a very detailed presentation of the options available. We picked our plan, paid for it. All completed within 1 day. Great service, highly recommend.

The salesMan did a very comprehensive presentation then without any pressure left the information for us to read. This we did and decided which plan best suited our requirements best. We then contacted the salesman and he returned and after a shor. discussion we signed up for the plan we'd decided on.

only seeing reviews regarding taking out a plan
I am writing this review because only seeing those inquiring about a plan, and not anyone needing to utilise the plan.
My husband recently passed away in Spain, and after calling the number as shown on the plan (which is also the general inquiries number on website), it is to an operator who forwards the call to someone in the UK (was a bit surprised handled by someone in the UK, as GL have an office close to where I am, and where the plan was taken out).
Once called back, and my location established, asked which crematorium I wished to use, and a further call would be direct with the Crematorium to finalise arrangements.
From this point on registration / death cert and all dealings were with the Crematorium.
There has been no follow-up or courtesy call from Golden Leaves.

Please allow us to first offer our condolences for the loss of your husband. We fully appreciate the time of your call was quite distressing for you and we only ever wish to behave empathetically at time of need.
To provide some clarity, until recently our International Office was indeed based in Jávea, however when notifying Golden Leaves of a person's passing, we have a team of individuals within the UK that will generally handle the call.
Our colleague, José who you spoke to in January travels between the UK & Spain handles the majority of our international maturities and would have been the best team member for you to conversate with at that time.
Once it was established that you would prefer a specific Funeral Director to conduct the service, José issued the Funeral Plan to them to begin the process. Unless there are any issues with the service you received from your chosen Funeral Director, there would generally be no further contact with Golden Leaves from this point.
Once was confirmed in your presence that a Death Certificate was not required, José contacted the required Funeral Director and the responsibility of providing the required services was handed to them as per standard practice.
We are sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. We strive to provide supportive and clear service for everyone, and we apologise that this was not your experience.

When I called to enquire about a cremation
When I called to enquire about cremation for my father the person I spoke with was so helpful and listened to what I wanted and did not try to up sell knowing we all want the very best for our parents....infact I also took out a second policy for myself so when that time comes my daughter will have nothing to do .
