Amazing dining table

Allan at Frenchman Bay Woodworks delivered an outstandingly beautiful custom made American Walnut dining table which is now the centrepiece of our newly renovated home. It was a pleasure working with him to modify his original “Floating” dining table design to accommodate our dining chairs, which presented some design issues due to their unusual shape and dimensions. The result was simple elegance in luxurious walnut, with an almost ethereal lightness to its form, which we expect will eventually become a treasured family heirloom.

I engaged Allan to custom make us an extendable dining table with Teak wood to match our existing dining chairs. Due to the global supply chain delays, shipment of an essential mechanism was delayed by several months. However, Allan was engaging and constantly provided update. When the mechanism arrived in WA he quickly got onto our job to minimize any further delay. When the table delivered, I could tell the amount of effort, thoughts and patience he put into making it. It was definitely worth a long wait and an experience I will not forget. The personable service I received is not replicable elsewhere. A table we will keep for a very long time, hopefully generations.

We approached Alan Gledson to make us a world globe stand that would suit our furniture, and advised Alan roughly what we wanted, Alan was very helpful and advised us what would or would not be appropriate. The finished product is amazing, beautifully finished and exactly what we wanted. We could not recommend Alan enough, if you want beautiful furniture go to Alan but be aware you will have to wait in line, but any wait is worth it, Thank you, Alan, for producing exactly what we wanted.

We were thrilled to be welcomed to Allan’s workshop to discuss our coffee table design and choose our timber. He was so helpful throughout the process, and was so accommodating when we made small changes. When the table arrived, it was simply beautiful; the workmanship was superb with amazing attention to detail. Allan explained the care of the timber and even gave us a product to use. Not only is our coffee table an exquisitely crafted piece of furniture, but Allan is a pleasure to work with. We’ll definitely be going back for more pieces! Highly recommended.

We found Frenchman Bay Woodworks on Facebook. After a few back and forth messages we decided to go ahead with a bespoke Tallboy to fit our new bedroom. My instructions were a little vague other than I wanted a jewellery drawer, the measurements were crucial, and the type of wood - jarrah.
Frenchman Bay Woodworks was amazing from the get go. His questions helped me to clarify what I really wanted and he was able to resource some reclaimed jarrah.
The result is amazing. I absolutely love the tall boy. The craftsmanship is perfect, next level in fact. I’m really pleased with how the Blackbutt splines in the shadow spacers, frame and leg mitres as well as the draw boxes really pop against the rich red, and the little 45 degree chamfer just sets the drawers back from the frame for a little definition.
The magic combination of push to open / soft close undermount drawer slides make this piece a pleasure to use today, and for the next generation.
The personal delivery made the experience even more enjoyable, being able to meet and thank the clever craftsman.
It’s so exciting to have a bespoke piece of furniture in our home. It’s even better than I imagined it would be.

Allan created for us a beautiful counter height custom shaker dining table. From start to finish Allan was an absolute delight to deal with. The two times we went around to his workshop he made us feel really welcome, ready to chat with us for us as long as we wanted; although, no doubt he was very busy. We could not have chosen a better craftsman to make our table. We could hear the passion he has for his work, caring about each and every detail along the way. Allan even came around to our place to see exactly where the table was going to "live" and also to plan how to manoeuvre it over the balcony as the doorway is too small. We love our table, thank you Allan!

Allan restored a large Jarrah dining table that is of great sentimental value. Unfortunately it had sustained significant sun damage over the years and more recently some water damage.
In hindsight, I wish I’d found Allan a long time ago because the transformation is extraordinary and exceeded all expectations.
His skill and craftsmanship brought the table back to life, to the point where it actually looks better than it did originally.

I saw one of Alan's chessboards online, and was impressed with the design and quality. I ordered one for my son's 50th birthday, and from my first contact, until I took delivery of the board, Alan was very professional, kept me informed of the progress, and was prepared to be flexible in the personalisation process. My husband and I were thrilled with the design, quality and workmanship of the board when we collected it. It truly is a work of art, and my husband was also fascinated with Alan's individually designed pieces of furniture in his workshop. Allan made us a beautiful console table out of blackbutt. He truly is a master at his craft. Each aspect of the design was carefully considered and masterfully executed. The piece has pride of place in our entrance hall for all guests to see. It will be cherished for many years to come.

A 50th birthday surprise gift, it's hard to find the exact words to describe the instant heirloom Allan created.

Curved blackbutt and jarrah details, the table is a modern classic. An ancient trilobite fossil rests under the circular glass. The more we appreciate its beauty, the more exquisite detail is revealed.

I asked Allan to design and build a small round table to display a large trilobite fossil. He was very pleasant, helpful, knowledgeable, and easy to deal with during this process. His woodworking skills are exemplary and he is a craftsman of fine and beautiful furniture using a variety of wood. I am extremely happy with the final product and would be happy to recommend his work to anyone.
